Riding high off of the brilliant book, Criminal, I just finished the short story "Snatched" which was included with my copy of Criminal on my Kindle. It is a stand alone story of Will Trent's time in the Atlanta airport doing bathroom duty. He is assigned there to try and catch guys having sex in the restrooms which he hates. It is a punishment from his boss for having his hair too long. Will doesn't care about consensual sex between men, he doesn't want kids to witness it though. He does post on web sites that he has seen a cop (himself) hanging around there to discourage any activity, so he doesn't have to arrest anyone.
While there, he sees something off, a man with a little girl. They don't seem to belong together and she seems upset. The man is very rough with her too. Will follows them out of the men's restroom and into the airport, the chase begins.

Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International airport was huge; the statistics didn't lie, and Agent Will Trent was stuck in one of the many restrooms, waiting for one of the many horrible things that happened in airports, to happen. About ready to leave for his next food break, Will stopped when he heard someone entering, then a quiet but desperate little voice saying she wanted to go home. The sweet little slippers Will could see under the door sent shivers down his spine. Something was wrong here...
Will followed the angry man as he dragged the little girl along with him, but in the chaos of the underground car parking, he lost sight of them. With the alert code already sent out, it wasn't long before the huge airport ground to a halt - but was it quickly enough? Would Will find the little girl before it was too late for her?
Snatched is #5.5 in the Will Trent series by Karin Slaughter and it was brilliant! Fast paced, the gritty tension kept me turning the pages until the end. A short story which follows on from Fallen, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Centred mainly around Will Trent, his dedication and caring was good to see. Recommended.

Okay, so I'll admit that my heart was in my throat while reading this story!
Written in third-person with a singular POV, it centered around Special Agent Will Trent's thrilling adventure and investigative search into finding a missing girl who was last spotted at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
▲ This short story is part of an eight-book series that I haven't read, but it was easy to latch on to the characters and enjoy the ride. Looking forward to reading more from this author!

GBI Special Agent Will Trent did something to annoy his boss so he's relegated to monitoring the toilets at the Atlanta airport to trap potential sexual predators. What he inadvertently stumbles upon is a possible child abduction.
It may be short but it is riveting. Will races against time to find the little girl whose face he can never forget as he beats himself up for ignoring his first instincts. I enjoyed following him and the team of agents working the situation. There's no fluff or filler and this story moves.
Narrated by Kathleen Early, this was another fine performance and well crafted story in the series. Haven't read a "miss" yet.

It's scary how some people have no regard or compassion for children. This novella is frightening, because I'm sure it happens more than we know.
Will is on airport duty looking for sex offenders in the bathrooms. I guess this is a thing? Men go to airport bathrooms in search of a random hookup? I've never noticed this happening in women's bathrooms, and I fly pretty frequently, but maybe it this is common for men. Who knows. This wouldn't be a problem if said hookup didn't happen when anyone, including kids, can walk in on this going down. As Will is waiting in a men's bathroom stall a man comes in with a little girl and has her use the restroom. This could be a father taking his daughter to the bathroom, but Will's instincts scream this girl is in trouble, and he acts quickly. But is it quick enough to save little girl?
I think it's a good thing to listen to a gut feeling. Usually, IMO, it's our subconscious picking up on subtle clues, something like body language, alerting us that something isn't right and I truly believe in heeding those warnings.
Amanda and Faith play a part in the investigation. Love that Amanda can get things done in situations like this. No one says no to Amanda. If they do, they live to regret it for sure!
This was a short, but satisfying on-the-edge-of-your-seat kind of mystery/thriller that wrapped up quite nicely. Glad I didn't just skip to the next full-length Will Trent book.
Onto the next one, and I'm sorry to say there aren't very many left to go in this series. Ack!

Will has pissed Amanda off ... again ... He is on "toilet duty" at Atlanta airport. He hears the voice of a young girl. Something is not right but Will gets there too late.
Honestly, I didn't get this book. I mean it is not really a progression from the previous books. It is like a filler that Slaughter threw out there to make a bit of money before the release of Criminal.
Of course Will is in it so I am not complaining but I hadn't read it, I wouldn't have missed much. Anyway, onwards and upwards to start the next book ...

Another action packed read!
Slaughter knows how to capture your attention and hold it so tight you forget to breath at times.
I can't find if this short story is connected to the next book in the series or not, so I just went with it.
It is after all Karin Slaughter, one of my top authors.
Snatched is exactly what the title suggest. And Slaughter used it to show us how Will's mind works and of cause to teach us a bit about the Levi’s Call.
As always I couldn't get enough.

A short story in the Will Trent series.
Will has been assigned police toilet duty at the Atlanta's International airport. All this because his hair is too long and the GBI manual has a recommended length. Will doesn't want to cut his hair because Sara, his girlfriend, likes his hair a little longer, so he would rather continue with toilet duty than getting rid of his locks.
When a man enters the restroom with a small girl, Will's instinct tells him something is terribly wrong. He proceeds to follow the man and the little girl. Everything goes crazy and the girl disappears. It's up to Will, Amanda, and Faith to find the little girl before is too late.
Snatched is a fast-paced short story. Will is determined to get the little girl back and he feels responsible for not intervening sooner. Of course, he couldn't have known what was really going on.
Snatched is an easy read. For Will Trent lovers this is a little gem.

I'll never walk through an airport the same way again.
SNATCHED started out hilarious and adorable and quickly turned into a heart-pounding slice of fright and horror and uncertainty. Well done, Slaughter, well done. Extra star for the sweet sweet ending though.

This short story has many good things about it. My favorite being that Angie wasn't in it and Will Trent, the smart man that he is, saves a little girl. If I were ever a little girl lost, I'd want Trent to save me.

Karin Slaughter. Will Trent. Need I say more? Probably not, but here goes. Snatched is labeled as number 5.5 in the Will Trent Series. Previously available only as an e-short story, I read it as a print supplement to a paperback version of number six, Criminal.
GBI Special Agent Will Trent is whiling away the hours playing Minesweeper on his cell phone in one of many men’s restrooms at the Atlanta airport as he sits as bait during his not-so-special assignment for a hair-length regulations infraction. (Honestly? You have to read Criminal to see what that is really all about.) Suddenly, it is not his “gaydar” alerting him but his cop’s instinct when he hears a little girl’s voice in the next stall. “Please, I wanna go home.” Suddenly, his boredom is replaced by alarm and tension.
Erring on the side of caution – it could be a weary father or stepfather losing patience or some other plausible explanation – Will decides to follow rather than intervene. He does have the wherewithal to borrow a phone (having run down his battery), snap a photo, and send it off to his partner. He decides to follow his gut. As he gives chase, he loses sight of the man and the girl. The airport is shut down, but where is the girl?
The rapid pacing of this story is terrific. I got a sense of urgency that Will and the other agents feel as they pummel the suspect with questions and pool all their resources to track down his accomplices to locate the child. I felt the fear that the girl Abigail feels as she is yanked around by the stranger. There are no graphic images in this story, but the scenes in Snatched ring true in their grim portrayal of child abduction and exploitation. The ending is unlike most of Ms. Slaughter’s works. I highly recommend this short story for a quick burst of satisfaction.

Book (Novella) 5.5 in the Will Trent series by Karin Slaughter. I enjoy this series and decided to read this novella which is only available as an eBook. I have to be honest I am not a big fan of short stories as they often lack depth and are just a little too convenient but this book was a decent read perhaps helped by the fact I was already familiar with some of the characters. Plenty of action and full of suspense that keeps the pages turning rapidly. A decent novel by an excellent author that made me want to read some of her other books.

Today’s review will be a short one. Snatched by Karin Slaughter is a novella and technically book number 5.5 in the Will Trent series. Karin Slaughter’s books are already fast and suspenseful reads but I finished reading this book in just over an hour. This book begins with Will Trent hanging out in an airport bathroom trying to catch sex solicitors. Soon a man roughly drags a girl to the bathroom. Something doesn’t sit right with Will but the man could be her father. The man proceeds to drag the girl out of the bathroom. Will follows, soon the man makes it evident that the girl is not his daughter. Will, Faith, Amanda, and the airport team shut the airport down in hopes of finding the girl before it is too late.
This book is only 73 pages. I was nervous at first because Karin Slaughter’s books are always planned out, suspenseful but the plots are always deeply developed. With this book, I was worried that the plot would be rushed. NOPE. It is suspenseful from beginning to end and is still developed. I was sad when it ended because I finished reading it in just over an hour.
As always the characters are fantastic. Will feels so much guilt with this case. He made a mistake in judgment and now the girl’s life could be in danger. Even though he is not to blame, this guilt makes him so relatable. We often feel guilty for our actions or inactions. However, that ending though. Don’t worry–no spoilers.

As punishment for not keeping his hair regulation length, Georgia Bureau of Investigations Special Agent Will Trent is stuck in an Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport restroom looking for illicit sexual activity. Bored and ready for a break, a small voice coming from the next stall catches his attention. It is a little girl saying she wants to go home. The man with her is in no mood to listen. Is he her father? Her Grandfather? Will's intuition tells him something is wrong as he follows them through the busy airport. But in the crowd of commuters, Will loses sight of them. Will his hesitation cost the girl her life?
This is a novella in Karin Slaughter's Will Trent series. I usually don't care for short stories, but this one was fast paced and well written. I highly recommend this story. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

A really good short story!
Sometimes I'm really hesitant on short stories, but Snatched had everything that I wanted. I got to briefly connect with my favourite characters (with the exception of Sara, who was only mentioned once) and I was on a roller coaster of action.
From the opening chapter I was hooked and it felt like my heart was racing when Will was running through the Atlanta airport. From there, the novel didn't let go until the very final chapter.
If you are reading the Will Trent series then make sure you don't miss out on this one!

Every time I read a Will Trent story, I ask myself, "how come I am not caught up on these?" His character is so fun for me. I like him with all his flaws. This was a short story, but still had the heart beating. The story of a possible abducted child in a packed airport! Good Stuff!

But the angry, impatient man’s demeanour kept Will following him – until suddenly they vanished from sight. Frantically Will looked around – where could they be? Rushing to contact his superiors and setting the closing down of the airport in motion, Will was racked with guilt. He was desperate to locate the little girl – would they be able to find her before it was too late?

This is an excellent short story to supplement your Karin Slaughter reading if you are an addicted fan. It is starring Will Trent who notices a suspicious man with a little girl who gives off signs of not being the parent and not being a good Guardian either. So of course our hero will Trent doesn't ignore his intuition when it comes to crime involving children. It is a super quick read with only 7 chapters and should be noted as a short story not a full book or novel. Definitely worth the hour or two of your time. Check it out in sequence or as a one-off because it's part of the greater amazing will Trent series, but it has a sort of anonymity that makes it so you don't need any of the backstory of the characters you grow to love in the series to enjoy.
It's a refreshing stand alone story with my beloved Will Trent, Amanda Wagner, Faith Mitchell, and even a brief moment referring to Sara Tolliver. Fans will eat this story for breakfast!

A gripping page turner from the start. It is only a pity that it isn't a full length novel as one can never get enough of the incredible Will Trent and his huge heart.
The investigation into a child abduction and possible human trafficking scenario at Atlanta Airport is eye-opening. The details on the airport itself and its procedures for dealing with this type of even are very interesting and I will never look at the airport in the same way again.
In sum, a short yet wonderful snippet of Will's life as a GBI Agent, and I look forward to reading the next book ASAP.
