As we inch forward towards the ending chapters, we know that we're attached to the characters and want very best for them. Fatuba and Kou should gt together immediately.

The artwork is still magnificent and now that Futaba and Toma (Kikuchi) are an item, Kou is really starting to come to terms with the fact that he has brought this on himself (which he definitely has). I do think though that Kou is starting to mature as a character and he doesn't seem as petulant like he was in earlier volumes...perhaps this is the start of a new and improved Kou?

I do think that Toma though is way more infatuated with Futaba and has been since the beginning...although Futaba really needs to be honest with herself and decide whether she is happy in her current relationship...which, let's be honest, she clearly isn't.

There are three more volumes to go and I do think that relationships will change and hearts potentially broken...and I will be there when it happens!

I can't believe that I am close to finishing this series! It's crazy because school started and there is so much going on, I try to squeeze in my reading for this series at night. Since I would like to write a review for all of the books in this series, I stay up a little. I love the characters, and things are slowly moving in the right direction! I am excited to read more and find out what happens next!

In middle school, Futaba had a hard time making friends because of the boys in her grade. They all found her attractive, which made most of the girls in her grade jealous, making it hard for her to make friends. This led to her hating all of the guys in her grade except for one. Kou was the guy who was less manly, shorter than the other guys in his grade and had a gentle voice. Before the two could hang out, Kou moved away and disappeared from Futaba's life. Later, when Futaba moves into high school, she realizes that she wants to make friends. She starts to eat more and act more aggressive, which helped her make friends. She never expects to run into her childhood crush, who has changed just as much as she has.

I love all of the characters in this series, even if they get me frustrated. I am happy for Yuuri, she's a great friend and she deserves happiness. I love how Marou and Yuuri look out for Futaba, it's so sweet. Kou is a cool guy, but he needs to be more open about everything and talk to others. This will help avoid problems and everyone is happy. Futaba is a strong girl, and I am happy that she stands up for what she believes in. I love how honest she is and she is never afraid to speak up. She doesn't like hurting others, but gets confused easily.

I am enjoying this series so far and I can't wait to see what happens next! I'll be off to squeeze as much reading as I can this weekend!

I witnessed the exact moment a person overcomes sadness and recovers. We all witnessed it together.
It was nice to come back to this series after about a year's break. There's just something about reading a manga that while it doesn't break down the walls in any way whatsoever, it is skillfully done, especially when it comes to the emotional aspect of the story. Readers who aren't fans of love triangles won't get much out of this series, by the way. One of the ways that Sakisaka shows her skill is showing us how Kikuchi and Futaba are a good couple who like each other and communicate well, but the real fire and chemistry is between Futaba and Kou.

A school trip to Nagasaki does a pretty good job of alleviating the claustrophobia I feel when love tangles play out entirely in school or home settings.

The quote above affected me, even if psychologically it wasn't very convincing. There are some things that scar over, but never fully heal.

Freeing oneself and avoidance or escape. How tricky. But, what a nice way to end things. I loved that Kou is finally maturing, and freeing himself and so is Futaba... or is she? I was rather conflicted when she ran away from Kou that night of the shooting stars. I can't decide how to interpret it. Is she finally freeing herself from all her hunches and assumptions about Kou or is she escaping because she's afraid she'd be trapped inside with no way out again? But you know what, I kinda like Futaba and Toma's relationship now. I only wish her happiness, it doesn't matter whether with Kou or Toma, they'll survive.

I love me a class trip 🤭🤭 part of me is sad bc this had SUCH AMAZING CUTE FUTABA AND KUKICHI MOMENTS. I’m happy bc I like them together but cmonnn I know they aren’t endgame 🫡 anyways, I rlly do feel like he is such a good guy it hurts me! I also love this season of growth for futaba. she’s rlly trying to move forward from kou (as she should) and focus on Kikuchi! It makes me so happy for her ugh THEYRE so cute. Loved the content we got here. I also love the friend group content as well💓 the core five have my heart and I’m happy they can add this to their list of memories hehe I’m also happy we see a little bit of growth on kou’s part. I hope he opens up and grows a lot faster bc I’m TIREDDDD of the games haha

The ending of this volume made me tear up.

What a beautiful and heartfelt thing this group experienced! So meaningful and impactful!

I also liked majority of this volume! I really enjoyed the flashback Kou had this time around (in light of Futaba having one too) and thought it was fitting, even if Futaba didn't. LOL!

Shun (I think that's the name of Kikuchi's other friend?) was spot on what he tells Kikuchi at the bridge. He can try to deny it but I think it was a good foreshadowing (which I'm 100% okay with, but Kikuchi better not try to be pushy again).

My heart really hurt for Shuko and why her actions were what they were. It made me happy what Kimnato said to her because how true!

Lastly, I really related to Futaba in trying to do the "right" thing in telling Kikuchi what happened. I wasn't exactly in that kind of situation, but her running from her heart isn't the answer. <3

While this wasn't my favorite volume, I really really loved the ending of this one. This story is definitely a romance, but seeing both Futaba and Kou really has touched me and loved seeing unfold just as much as the romance. <3

Overall Manga Review:

Wonderful in some aspects but questionable in others, this was certainly an interesting manga.

One thing that was fantastically done in this manga series was the exploration and representation of grief and the long-lasting impact a parent’s death can have on a child.

The exploration of true friendships was also nicely done, especially with the protagonist letting go of her fake friends and making new friends with whom she went through hardships with but still came out well on the other side due to genuine communication and understanding between them all.

The romance was mostly cute and it certainly started off nicely but it got really murky and messy as it went on. The introduction of the second love interest threw a spanner in the works and to be honest, this was the one instance in which I rooted for the second love interest over the main love interest.

There were some problematic things in this manga that I really wish hadn’t been there.
1. The indecisiveness of the protagonist coupled with the irritatingly dumb decisions of the main love interest became a bit annoying, especially as the right-person, wrong-time scenarios kept cropping up so that the protagonist and main love interest went round in circles constantly.
2. The way the female rival love interest used her unfortunately sad situation to manipulate the main love interest into being with her even though she knew that he wanted to be with the protagonist was awful, exploitative and downright shady.
3. The protagonist made a good decision to move on from the main love interest when he chose to look after the rival love interest instead of being romantically with her. Yet those were all words and no action because the entire time she was with the second love interest she was pining for the main love interest. And it was made even more pitiful by the fact that she knew she didn’t love the second love interest but still insisted on being with him and hurt him by being overly enthusiastic in her actions but not really feeling anything towards him. She led him on and then dropped him like a stone the moment she could go running back to the main love interest after deluding herself that all the terrible decisions she had made and lies she’d told the second love interest were in his interest and only done with him in mind. In actuality, the protagonist acted in a way that was cruel and selfish.
4. The main love interest was sometimes mean too. He managed to make the protagonist cry on more than one occasion with his unnecessarily harsh words and worse, his borderline sexually abusive actions. The scene where he tried to scare her into protecting herself around guys by getting on top of her and pinning her to the ground was insane and the fact that all she did was cry was even more insane. She wasn’t mad at him at all afterwards even though he had severely abused his position as her friend. The lack of consequences for his actions just showed the kind of toxic love between the protagonist and the love interest that hurt themselves and everyone around them.

And so, despite how cute this manga appeared at times, it grew harder and harder to ignore all that was wrong with it and all the blatant issues cast long shadows over the strengths of this manga.

okay, finally! what i love to see! kou isn’t giving up so easily, and futaba and toma are still *so* cute together, so it’s hard to make a set decision of who i’d like futaba to end up with, but they both have so many great qualities. i understand toma’s jealousy and kinda like how it makes him normal, he seemed too good to be true before, always cheery and easy going. i also may have shed a tear at that end scene!!!

Okey. Kominato precioso, paso a paso ganándose a Murao!

When will Futaba realize that she isn't inlove with Kikuchi? She'll just hurt him more in the end if she continues this. And when will Kou tell her that he loves her? This is so frustrating!

description

description

description

Me encanta.

This one was so bittersweet.

The relationship that started in the last volume really works well, as shown in this one. I can't tell what's going to break them apart. Maybe jealousy or insecurity.

I DID look up a spoiler after finishing this because there were a few loose ends that I wondered about and wondered when they are going to occur. What I found out surprised me because of what happened in this volume.

The characters are beginning to settle into their new selves. I don't think that they are finished in their evolution yet, since the series still has 3 more volumes and because of loose ends.

I feel bad for Kou but I also don't because he did this to himself. He chose not to act, so he didn't get what he wanted. Now he realized his problem so he's taking more action than before but... It's a problem because of the situations.

Art style is pretty good, like normal. Not much is changing any more, though, which is very disappointing.

There's a bunch of scenes that are pretty darn cute!! Totally worth reading it.

I'll probably finish out the series just to see how it ends. It'll be pretty dramatic, according the the spoilers. I don't think I'm ready for it.

So far, I'm absolutely raising my hand to this manga. It has been years since I last read one and absolutely this one is great. I like how the story flows. The problem was that type that suits in the said age of the characters. And I love Kou so much. Though I had this chance to talk to someone and we did a little sharing of insights, she hated Kou. She hated how Kou hurt Futaba.

But for me, the story gives the justification to his actions. Kou maybe intentionally did hurt Futaba in a way but he can't help it. We all know that sympathy is a strong feeling and it can't be help especially with the fact that Kou was also been in that kind of situation.

I liked the little bit of realization with Narumi that it's not Kou being stuck in the past, but she was. Since Kou clarified stuff with her, I guess we'd see less of her now but I still wanted to see what will happen in her situation.

The linen room scene was cute! It is obvious that Kou is trying to stall Futaba in meeting Toma and wanted to spend more time with her, teasing her into thinking Sensei's in the hall even though there's no one around. It's been a while since he's laughed with her around and teased her.

Despite the seriousness in the pillow fight scene, I found it funny. Kominato is also starting to dislike Kou because he thinks Shuuko likes him. But he comes to realize that he shouldn't hate him and it's not his fault. (Also, it's just a misunderstanding since Shuuko feels indebted to Kou.) I love the scene between them when Kominato asks what's his charm and what did Kou like about Futaba. Kou thinks he'll laugh at his answer but it turns out that he agrees with him. It's not what you'd peg for a guy conversation but it's adorable how they talk about it and don't embarrass each other for it.

The friendship between the five of them was even cuter in this because of the school trip to Nagasaka. The pictures, the sunset and how they relived the time in leadership camp when they watched the sunrise. I also loved the writing and parallelism of the sunset when Kou's mother died, how he hates it because it's the last view he'd seen, but in order to replace the memories, he should see it with other people. It's nice that he talks about his grief more openly and he accepts it, indicating that he's moving forward even if it is little by little. There's no cliffhanger for this volume and it ended perfectly. I'm excited to read the next volume 11.
