Desperate and young, Jillian Moore did something she knew would one day come back to bite her in the ass. She'd posed nude. For money. Years later, and on the fast track to a successful career, she's still haunted by her mistake. She can't help but wonder when her past will catch up with her.Samuel Steele is not short on female attention, but the women who warm his bed pale in comparison to the fantasy he's created of the seductive temptress in the painting hanging prominently in his bedroom. A fantasy that has ruined his once satisfying sex life. When he discovers that her exact likeness works in his building-for him-things get...interesting.
Kaily Hart, a seemingly straight-laced mother of four left corporate America and a high-powered, lucrative career to be a stay at home mom. Ha! That lasted about four weeks, during which time she realized she had a deeply repressed dream - to write. Romance! By day, Kaily plays conservative wife and soccer mom, but at night crafts hot and steamy tales of romance and love with gorgeous heroes who wouldn’t dream of leaving the toilet set up. Ever. She’s smart and sassy, at least in her own mind, and is trying her best to bring the alpha male solidly back to contemporary romance. Two years ago she never would have thought she’d be doing this, but now that she is? It just feels so right.
This one reads like an erotic twilight zone. Jillian the employee and Sam her entranced boss.
Sam bought a painting of a woman named Jillian weeks ago and has become obsessed with it as a sexual fantasy woman. Jillian posed for the painting back in college when she needed the money and has been embarrassed to know it's out there ever since. Gotta say that kind of ticked me off... being an artist and daughter of an artist myself. The artist who painted her has become a success so we're not talking street porn. But anyways, Jillian's prudishness aside, Sam sees her in passing in his building. He never fraternizes with his employees but that doesn't stop him from propositioning her. It's like her painting is an aphrodesiac between them. She can't help but say yes, against her better judgment. SO they get it on and she ends up seeing the painting in his flat and sh*t hits the fan. Sam in general was an asshat. Both Jillian and I got tired of his mentioning how many bimbos who resemble Jillian he's been with, while trying to get the painting out of his system.
But, he does do an awkward yet good grovel. Can't say I was completely convinced of the HEA. Seemed like more of an HFN.
It's a very quick read and most of it is sex. So there's really no character development. But the sex was well written and I enjoyed it anyways ; )
Not a romance, just sex w/some story .... Not a bad story, but rather short , I'd describe this is the right thing to read when you're horny and just wanting something to help you, aaaaaaaaaa, grinz, aaaaaaaaaa help you relax w/a good motorized friend ;) Laughs, I think I've read this before I just don't remember when,I think I enjoyed it more the 1st time when I'm sure there had been some surprise or mystery to it still... On KU I'd definitely recommend it was times when you want to just sex.........
This has been on my tbr pile for a while. I am a little leery of reading new authors but since I was wanting something short and cheap to read I picked it up. Wow! This was sooooo hot! Sam is so dominant and Jillian is not a push over either the tension between them really sizzle. This is a short story so the development of the relationship is quick but it was handled pretty good despite that. I did think that if this happened in real life it would be a little uggy but this is fantasy.
I inhaled this book in 30 minutes. It was that quick of a read.
The story was hot. Sam was sizzling and Jillian had spunk.
But...
the leap from Sam being obsessed with a painting of Jillian to the fact that he wanted her for more than just sex was too vast for it to be believeable.
I actually loved this novella. The idea of someone falling in love with a painting reminds me of the movie, " Laura", except this book had much better sex scenes! I actually would have loved to have this book lengthened and gotten more sex scenes and have Sam and Jillian fall in love more slowly. Kaily Hart is the best when it comes to this genre!
This was a real sweet short story, with a HEA. Jillian is trying to track down a portrait she sat for many years earlier. Sam is trying to find women to recreate the image of the beautiful woman in the portrait he recently acquired and is obsessed with. When Sam sees Jillian at his company he sees a close comparison to the portrait that he needs to have her at least once, even though he has maintained a strict rule against fraternizing with women at work. I love the ending, though would loved to have seen this one go longer. I look forward to reading more from Miss Hart.
I really liked it, but I would prefer it to be a full length novel.
It was just too quick, first he wants just sex and then Bang! he loves her. I didn't really believe that, I mean, he knows her two seconds, nothing says she's more to him than sex and then he drops the L-bomb.
But I'll give it four stars because apart from the length, which I should have expected since it is a short story, I loved it.
Sam is in obsessed with a woman in a painting, a woman he's not sure is even real, until he see her in real life. The playboy in him wants to pursue her to see if the reality is any where near fantasy. What he gets is more than he bargained for. This is a short and sexy story of instalove and happily-ever-after.
It was good up until Sam started to explain himself. I know it's fiction and a quickie, but I just couldn't buy the emotion. Saying he made love to her and had feelings for her...he didn't even know her. That's why only two stars. While hot, it just lacked something for me.
Short but such a well written story. I adore the writing style of Ms Hart. Her books are hot with well developed characters. I just wish this one was much longer that is the only reason for four and not five stars.
A short story that deals with the long term ramifications of ill advised decisions of desperate youth. It is a cute story and a very nice accompaniment to one's lunch time sandwich and Coke.
