You know that feeling you get when you're on a winner? This is how I feel now. This is the third book in this series and I think it is going from strength to strength. Miss LaManna is keeping me enthralled and captivated to the end.

In this episode, its is more about the Candidates and the Trials. It is a major honor to become a Ranger so the test is not for the faint hearted. But with an escaped prisoner, things get side tracked for a while. One thing that is constant is Lily and Ranger X. These two have a bond with their soles like no other on the Isle. Lily is finding being the Mixologist is becoming more natural and is working on potions with ease. Her and Ranger X also need to find their place together that doesn't compromise their respected positions.

This is a great series about witches and a magical island that has to combat against some evil to withstand. Highly recommend it to one and all.

Ahhhh! This book.... where do I even begin? I think I say it every single time, but this is by far Gina's best work to date. The pieces to the puzzle are starting to fall into place little by little only to for you to realize that the puzzle is bigger than you realized and there are more pieces you need to complete it.

The world Gina has brought to life is just fascinating, we get to explore a new piece of the Isle and the descriptions of are tangible. I lived and breathed this book. Days later and I still can't get enough. I hope Gina is writing the next book in the series. The next book in this series will definitely be one of my most anticipated books of 2017.

Ranger X is still just as captivating and swoony as the first two books, if not more. Lily is really sinking into her role as Mixologist and we learn more about other side characters and we get more returning roles. I kept thinking I knew what was happened, but when then the rug was pulled out from under me and I just fell flat and totally thrilled that I had no idea it was coming.

If you haven't started this series. JUMP. ON. IT.

Welcome back to the Isle and what a welcome it is.

I really love a series that blossoms more and more with each story and not just the characters themselves but the Isle as a whole and the stories themselves.

Lily is back and seriously better than ever she has come a long way from the young woman in Hex on the Beach who didn't even know she was magic and now she is the Isle's Mixologist and what a Mixologist she is.

I love Lily and Ranger X their relationship is something special and it just keeps growing stronger and stronger which makes them an unstoppable force when they work together.

Zin is ready for the trials but does she really have what it takes to be the first ever female Ranger.
Poppy is well Poppy the happiest most positive vampire ever I so love her.
Hettie is just a badass grandmother and always will be.

Things go wrong, forces of the faction are determined to take over the Isle but everyone on the Isle will fight for it.

Oh and I seriously loved the descriptions of the forest, the lagoon and the trials it was like all of my favourite childhood stories come to life.

i think it's clever the way the title of the book fits into the theme of the story. Each title in this series signifies a new drink/potion Lily conconcts. (ie. she's the mixologist)

while i don't think this series is as good as the first one i did (Lola Pink series), it's still entertaining. It has the key elements that i like about this writer. Really great characters w/marvelous chemistry, satisfactory stories w/hints of romance & mystery.

I do wonder about Liam. I have my own theories but I think something more will happen w/him in a future book. There's also the issue of Lily's parents. I'm thinking that'll show up in a future book.
I found "The Pupeteer" storyline interesting.

Each book is better than the previous. The writer is more deeply developing the characters & stories.

My negative is that there were too many loose ends left at the end.

I'll continue & move onto the next book.

Gina LaManna is new Author for me in 2019. A friend recommended the series to me since we both like paranormal. Must read series in order to know who and what is happening.

The books just pull you right in and don't want to let you go. Fast reads.
Paranormal, romance, suspense, action packed. A human that doesn't know she is a witch until her crazy aunts go to the city to get her. Then the craziness & the journeys to unknown magical madness begins. Romance builds & keeps you interested. Crime, death, suspense, who dun it?
Highly recommend this series if you are looking for something new from the paranormal genre.

**Another paranormal authors I would recommend:
Jennifer Ashley - Shifters Unbound
Ilona Andrews -- Kate Daniels novels

I didn't like this book as much as the first two. That said, this was a nice bit of entertaining fluff. I think what I like best about these books is that Lily is an ordinary woman. Although this is a paranormal, Lily is just muddling through life the best she can, and her magic doesn't help her with her those issues. My favorite part of this book is when Lily is discussing her Mixology process with Poppy. I relate to its intuitiveness, I think this is how many creative processes and innate talents work. I also enjoy the ensemble cast and learning about them and their world. I really love the theme of family, and that Lily doesn't take hers for granted.

This is the third in the Magic & Mixology Mystery Series, and things are getting intense. The Candidates are doing public Trials to qualify for becoming Rangers when it becomes apparent that someone is using a horrible magic that is stronger than just about any other magic. It starts on the same day as a long imprisoned woman, called the Puppeteer, is broken out of jail and starts to use her Blood Magic on the Candidates. Lily and X, as well as the Core, try to get to the bottom of this without much success. It isn't until a businessman and friend, Liam, reveals his previous association with the Puppeteer, that he and Lily finally get to the bottom of what is going on.

This book is full of excitement as Lily and X become closer, Ainsley (Lily's assistant from the old life on the mainland) comes to the Isle, the public Trials are started, Lily and Ainsley go on a journey to learn about Blood Magic, Liam and Lily go on a journey to find the Puppeteer, and several of the Candidates are caught under the Blood Magic spell of the Puppeteer. It is definitely a series that needs to be read in order, otherwise much of this book will not make a bit of sense. However, read in order, Jinx & Tonic becomes an exciting step of the history of the Isle. The author's creative descriptive style makes the reader feel immersed in the story; you can hear the waterfall, smell the flowers, watch the Trials, and feel the emotions as you read.

If you like magic, mystery, and a little romance, this is the series for you. You too will find yourself wishing to escape to the Isle, or at least for a closet of your own like Lily has!

I am in love with this series!!! I was hooked when I first met Lily and her quirky little family! I always had high hopes for how Lily's story would play out with her new family and new responsibilities but when I starting reading this book I had no idea how much she would actual go through. I felt my heart jump a few times at the most heartwarming times, but also at the most horrifying times! Yes, I do know that this is a PG-13 book but when I read some of these scenes I was just upset by the way things were turning out I went full on dramatic. The scenes with Ranger X and Lily made me laugh, smile and also a little angry about all the secrets! I understand they are protecting each other and the Island but UGH it was frustrating.

Ms. LaManna shocked me several times throughout the book with her ability to paint the exact picture of each scene that she wanted you to see in your mind. Every part of Lily's obstacles were mapped out beautifully and I could not put this book down! This book was sent to me for my honest review and I apologize for the delay in posting. Congratulations on such a captivating series and I can not wait to see what happens next for Lily Locke.

Jinx and Tonic is the 3rd book in this series and each book just keeps getting better and better! It makes me even more excited for the books that are to follow.

In this book we learn a lot more about both X and Lily. We learn about some of Lily’s family history and while there are questions that are answered there are more that come up. I love that about this book, although the books don’t end in huge cliff hangers, each book leaves you with questions that you can’t wait to find the answers to in the next book.

The Island is crazy right now with the trials and ceremonies and the ball. Lily and X are finally together but are finding that having a relationship when you are two of the most important people on the island can make it hard. Each of them has their own careers and secrets that could take their toll on their relationship but they don’t let it.

“Somehow, the two of us had managed to find a lighthouse in all these dark and stormy seas, the light keeping us on a path of good, a path of love and hope and all things bright.”
~ Lily

I love the blossoming love between X and Lily. I love that we get to see a different side of X. He is protective, loving, and don’t forget panty melting hot (not that that is new). When he says things like this, you just swoon!

“Some days…you’re the only thing in this world of which I’m sure.”
~ X

If you have not started this series or haven’t one-clicked this latest one, DO IT NOW!!!

★★SPOILER ALERT★★
👉🏾 Listened to on audiobook👈🏾

I give the third book a 2.75 over the previous books solid 2. The main character Lilly Lock was only slightly less annoying in this book and I mean slightly. One minute she insists on this the next she's moved on. One minute she is willing to be part of a group and do her part, the very next minute she is off on her own secret mission. For a woman who claims often she is nothing special, she strives to be special and different when ever she can. She hold secrets from her family and friends, but can't stand not to know anything she chooses for one moment longer. Especially when it comes to her boyfriend, but if he tries to tell her the thing she must know right now she says"oh you don't have to tell me of you don't want to".
Ranger X : Lilly promise me you was sneak out and traipse around the island alone at night...
Lilly: I promise
As soon as he is gone she is out the kitchen window.
Lilly: why doesn't Ranger trust me? Duh....
👉🏾 OK she helped a few people and sympathized with one of my favorite characters. The library of knowledge was my favorite part...

The Magic and Mixology Mystery Series has been a delight since the first book but Jinx & Tonic is my clear favorite so far. I love that the Lily has matured as a person as well as a mixologist through the books. And I love to see that her relationship with Ranger "X" is so solid, so solid in fact (spoiler here) her reveals his name!!! The complication on the island take a toll on their new relationship but Lily determines to stand firm in her roll and in her love.

Just as it it is time for Zin and the other Candidates to face 5 weeks of public trials, the most danger prisoner who has ever been held on the island escapes. Between hunting the villian and running the trials, X hardly has time to breathe. Lily was assured that the public trials were mostly ceremonial and that with magic healers on hand, nothing too bad could happen, but of course, it does. To help defend against the black magic of the escaped witch, Lily tries travels the dangers of the forrest for help and tries to develop a protective spell.

This series just keeps getting better and better! We are back on the isle with this amazing gem and our heroine Lily is having a hard time staying true to her promise to the core. She hates hiding things from Ranger X. There relationship goes through mores downs than ups in this one, but its not to bad. He knows she is hiding something and he hates it because he just wants to keep her safe. He reveals some pretty personal things in this book, which I loved:) She is head strong though and stays true to her promise to Hettie her grandmother. This book takes us on an amazing ride which I didn't see the villain until well Lily did. I did guess on one part, but this author does keep us on our toes with this one. Now that end, THAT end. It left me reeling like whats going to happen, how can this be, where is her mother, and lastly when is the next book coming out?!?! I'm hooked on this author, so on to another one of her series.

I really like this series and hope there are more to come - I didn't want this last one to be over! A light paranormal read, a little romance, whimsical and imaginative - just fun to read. Lily's cousin, Zin, could become the first female Ranger so anticipation is high during the selection Trials. The competition is fierce and a candidate dies before an arena full of onlookers. It turns out a dangerous criminal, the "Puppeteer" has escaped and the Isle is filled with fear. Lily has been asked to become a member of the Core, a group destined to save the Isle, but she is asked to keep this secret from Ranger X and it is threatening their relationship. Her gradmother, Hettie, is the leader of the Core and someone is trying to kill her. This book was quite a bit more suspenseful than the prior in the series and I really liked it! And, yay, we finally learn Ranger X's real name!

This has by far been my favorite book in the magic & mixology series! You really get to see so much more in to so many of the main characters stories! Right from the beginning this book has you captivated! Starting with the ranger trials & how that all plays in to what is going on with the faction! I don't want to spoil any of this amazing book but you learn more about the mysterious Liam, X & even some more in to Lily! I can not wait til the next book in this series comes out! Gina is an amazing writer & I'm so glad I discovered this wonderful series!!!

I'm really enjoying watching this series unfold, watching the characters grow, and especially Lily (the protagonist.) Not only see how each mystery plays out, but also how her relationship with Ranger X evolves. Although a cozy, this book has a little more suspense in it. More surprises thrown in a well. Fun lovable characters. Fast moving story-line. Good clean fun, suitable for all ages. You are probably going to want to read the previous books before this one. As it is with the authors other series, each book gets better and better! :)

I have enjoyed reading this series so far. In this 3rd book the suspense is improved over the previous 2 books. I enjoyed Liam very much. A few of the conversations between X and Lily are predicable and annoying, however I really did enjoy the storyline. The descriptions of the surroundings were fabulous. I am 3 books in and feel like I have too much time invested not to read the 4th book in the series. It is a simple and quick read. It kept my attention and was overall pretty good as a cozy mystery.

As is often the case in urban fantasy, paranormal romance, and cozy mysteries, this series has hit its strike in volume three. The characters have finally fleshed out, and I love that Lily's family/family dynamics play a large role. I could take or leave the romance, but at least now Lily's relationship with X feels real (cemented as MAGIC love ::eyeroll::). The overarching storyline and mystery have also finally emerged.

P.S. I couldn't help but be reminded of Avatar: The Last Airbender and blood bending, or Naruto and puppetry jutsu.

Even Better Than The First Two!

I enjoyed the first two bit wasn't necessarily running to read another installment of the book. I tend to not go for "cozy mystery" style books and I had kind of slid this book in that category. But everything got turned a little more up I this book, the plot ( some amazing twist!! )the stakes, and X's and Lily's relationship (finally) . Def a great book!

I am thouroughly enjoying this series, Gina LaManna concocts a great story, fab characters who are fleshed out with your own imagination, I love the romance between X and Lily it is sweet and progressing nicely thank you very much!

I am confused about the lack of men though, apart from X no-one has a significant other? Trinket has 7 kids but no husband or man has ever been mentioned? It is strange, but then this is the isle I suppose I should not be surprised by anything,

HIghly recommended!

Great

I loved this book. I couldn't put it down. It is full of mystery adventure and romance. Its paranormal cozy mystery and part of a series but can stand alone. The only thing I wish was at the end of the book is the recipes for both the regular drink of gin and tonic along with the mix plot jets jinx and tonic.. I recommend this book to everyone who loves the paranormal, cozy mysteries, and romance and adventure.

Talented author

Lilly has many choices to make and a tonic to make to save the islanders from blood magic. There are many twists and turns for Lily and she will be faced with some strong challenges in the future. I cannot wait for the next book. While you are waiting for the next book make sure to read the Lacey Luzzi Mafia series. You will not be able to put them down

I enjoy these books. I love the characters in them. Dark, handsome Ranger X , Lily, the main character who is the Isle’s Mixologist. A skill one is born with. There are adventures, magical woods, shape shifters and of course a bad guy or group. In this series it’s the Faction. Interesting, light storylines.

I want more of the series, very relatable heroine. Pro: A different break from the typical "coming of age and finding out your spectacularly more powerful than any one else" story-line. Con: A little "oh, every one wants to date me-ish", but I like the fact that there isn't just "the one" true love right way.
