When Navy pilot Ryder Westbrook is shot down, his only thought is making it home—to the place he left behind a long time ago. But dreaming about the small town of Eagle's Ridge and going back are two very different things, and upon arrival Ryder finds himself in the middle of another battlefield—an old family feud between the Westbrooks and the Tuckers. To complicate matters, he needs disputed land to start his second career at the local airfield. He decides to enlist the help of beautiful Bailey Tucker, but the chef soon has his senses spinning in another direction…

The last person Bailey is interested in helping is golden boy Ryder Westbrook. After a painful personal betrayal, irresistible attraction to another man, who is probably too good to be true, seems like a terrible idea. But she also needs something from the Westbrooks, a chance to start over and build the restaurant of her dreams.

Ryder and Bailey make a simple plan—work together to get what they both want, but what happens when they find out what they really want is each other?

3 What's a Little Feud Between Founders Stars
* * * Spoiler Free
Oh, how things can become complicated...How friends who have only the best of intentions can let bad decisions and hurt feelings get the best of them...

This is a new series based on a town that has a feud that could make the Hatfield's and the McCoy's look like Kindergarten play. It seems this Westbrook vs Tucker feud has been happening for generations spanning 65 years and now grandchildren of the original men who started it...want to end it.

Each grandchild had a life changing event happen... and they both came home to Eagle's Ridge to either get back to their roots or lick their emotional wounds.

Navy pilot Ryder Westbrook had a moment, an awakening when he was shot down...all that he cared about and wanted to mend flashed before him...his difficult and distant relationship with his family, his hometown and the land he loved. He thought in those moments, if he survived, he would make a difference and confront what needed to be done at home.

He made it through, recovered his injuries and headed home for good. Now he has resettled, taken stock of the town's airport, accessed what is needed and plans to do something about it. It will be good for the town and all surrounding it.

There is just one little problem with his expansion ideas for the airport...The only runway that can be expanded to allow larger aircraft to land is on a piece of land which will be difficult to acquire...

Maybe difficult isn't the correct word... more like IMPOSSIBLE...
Yup... the land is Tucker land...and remember that feud from 65 years ago... well it is still running just as strong.

Bailey Tucker has come home to hide out from all the unfair and bad publicity she received. She left Eagle's Ridge long ago too... and it was to become a chef, a world class chef. After all the schooling, apprenticeships in Europe and grunt work in numerous kitchens, she finally was to be part of a new restaurant in NYC. A world famous chef was her lover and partner. They worked together and cooked together...everything was wonderful until it wasn't. Something happened on the opening night and instead of taking his responsibility for the situation, the chef threw Bailey under the bus.

Bailey swore to herself she was never going to let a man twist her up and take over her life. She was home to figure out the next step.

These two see each other again under circumstances that at first have Bailey at a disadvantage and her "Westbrook Hate" comes out right away. Ryder is at first a bit stunned but then takes it all in stride. He has decided he needs that land and seeing Bailey could help the cause. After all she could help him with her grandfather... the other side of the feud.

As you figured out, this is the tale of these two falling hard for each other and how that impacts this long standing feud. Author Barbara Freethy is the first to be part of a 7 part series based on this location, brothers from the Armed Service and all of their stories.

This has a sweet feel to it... love is in the air and kisses, hugs and a little more happen and then the rest is implied. There is an impressive list of authors who will be participating.

Ryder (7 Brides for 7 Brothers) by Barbara Freethy
If love is a battlefield, what is a family feud?  Ryder lays the groundwork for what looks to be a smokin' series.  Barbara Freethy puts her best foot forward with a little star crossed love, deep introspection and the feud of the century as a backdrop.  Ryder has seen his share of combat overseas but when the battle lines are right outside his front door, it's time for an intervention.  Bailey is his only hope and his greatest temptation, will he survive a sneak attack on his heart?  Family and fireworks are a Freethy specialty and she delivers both with a bang.

This is the first installment of the 7 Brides for 7 Soldiers series. I'm a huge fan of this authors and this story had her fingerprints all over it. Barbara Freethy is my "comfort food" author because I know it will be something I like and it feels familiar. (in a good way)

Ryder has recently come home to Eagles Ridge after an unexpected retirement from the Navy. He's trying to figure out what to do next. He was a pilot and wants to continue in that field and decides he wants to expand the small airport in their town to help grow business and attract more tourism. He will need additional land to expand the runways which will attract larger planes to the area, however, the land is owned by the Tucker family, and he is a Westbrook. Their families have been feuding for 65 years and the idea to have a Tucker sell him the land he needs feels impossible.

Bailey has come home after a public embarrassment from a restaurant opening in New York. She is an up and coming chef and had hoped to make a name for herself, but the opening night did not go well and the owner deemed her responsible. She is home to figure out what to do next. She crosses paths with Ryder when she and her brother's dog needs to be rescued. There is an attraction but given their family rivalry, there too cautious to explore this. But their paths keep crossing and the attraction becomes undeniable. Ryder and Bailey have dinner together and he decides a walk would be nice afterwards. They walk around the perimeters to a building that used to belong to Ryder's grandmother, an old restaurant that his grandfather never sold. She is excited about the possibilities of re-opening the restaurant, but could she get consent from Ryder's grandfather.

The two older gentlemen are stubborn with their feud and want to be right rather than wanting to end it. They recognize that Ryder and Bailey have stronger feelings than they thought which prompts them to reflect on their own feelings.

This story while predictable, had an easy flow, likable characters and alot of good feels. You are introduced to future characters in the stories to come which will be entertaining.

I haven't read a book by this author in a very long time and the concept of this series seemed like a good way to try out her books again, plus the covers don't hurt to look at.

For most people, making major life changes comes at a pivotal moment and for Ryder Westbrook, it was at a time when he stared death in the face. He realized that he wanted to deal with a lot of the unresolved issues in his life and especially his non-relationship with his family, so he said goodbye to the Navy and moved back home. His new career requires some investment and only one person stands the way: his grandfather's biggest enemy but Ryder is determined to bring an end to a sixty-five year old feud and he needs help from the 'enemy' camp.

Bailey Tucker left for New York with big dreams of conquering the culinary scene and leaving her mark, but eight years later she's back home with nothing to show for it. Getting involved in some hare-brained scheme with Ryder is definitely not in her plans but if it gets her a fresh start, then it is worthwhile. The attraction between them, on the heels of her being betrayed by another man is unexpected and not really what she was looking for, but if her fresh start includes finding love with Ryder she would be a fool to pass it up.

So, I liked the concept of the series and was looking forward to reading more about the feuding families. The story was predictable and sweet, low on drama between Ryder and Bailey but was missing something for me. The characters needed more depth and the entire story feels rosy, like a fairy-tale where everything was destined to work out, not like real life where people had to work at relationships and resolving conflicts years in the making. There are few dangling threads in Ryder's relationships with his father that I would have loved to see dealt with here.

Overall, the story was okay, but a little too long for me. If you enjoy sweet romances, this is one book you'd want to check out. There are a few of my favorite authors in on this project, so I will certainly be checking out the rest of the series.

This is the first book of this new series by a multiple of authors.
Bailey Tucker has come home after a she is hurt and embarrassed by someone she thought loved and carried about. She was made the fall guy for a restaurant opening that did not go well. She was hung out to dry by the media and her chef boyfriend for something she was not responsible for. So she comes home to find herself.
Ryder Westbrook has come back home after a helicopter he was piloting crashed and making him revaluate his career as a Navy pilot. Eagle's Ridge was home and both of these people needed to find their peace not only with their families but within themselves. But both of them did not expect to have such an instant attraction to each other, but this attraction was a mine field of family squabbles of the two warring families, The Tuckers and The Westbrooks had been feuding for 65 yrs.
Baily and Tucker think they have the solution to end the feud and bring them both what their hearts desire, for Bailey a chance to open up her own restaurant that belongs to the Westbrooks and Ryder to have added land for his expansion for the local airport, which belongs to the Tuckers. So they both work together to make their dreams for their careers happen as well as find the future they want together.

I enjoyed the flow of the story and characters the will continue the saga of these 7 Brides and the 7 Soldier's who return home to Eagle's Ridge to find the peace and love.

Geez, talk about holding a grudge! Poor Ryder Westbrook and Bailey Tucker have not only their own battles to fight, but they're dealing with a 65 yr old grudge between two of their hometown's Founding Fathers who just so happen to be their grandfathers too!

Ryder's returned home after a stint in the Navy. Being shot down has made Ryder realize that there's more to life than a military career-he has a family and a home in Eagle's Ridge, and now it's time to think about the future. A future that hopefully involves Bailey as well as taking ownership of some disputed Tucker land.

Bailey's return to Eagle's Ridge to lick her wounds and figure out what she wants to do with her life-figure out what are her hopes and dreams for once. But she just can't help herself when it comes to dealing with Ryder. He's an amazing, sexy, nice, smart man who wants her and only her. Now to just figure out how to end the infamous Westbrook/Tucker feud so that they can get on with their lives.

I had so much fun getting to know Bailey and Ryder in this first of the 7 Brides for 7 Soldiers series. Both characters were smart, fun and a bit snarky-a terrific combination in my view. I couldn't help but root for them to find their happily ever after as well as find a way for their families to end their decades long feud. I can't wait for more in Adam. ~ Missy, 4 stars

Ryder by Barbara Freethy is an excellent book. Ryder & Bailey's story is touching & emotional. It reminds you, to never give up, on what you want.
Both of their family's have had an ongoing feud for over 65 years.
Ryder is back home, after 10 in the service. A near fatal accident, showed him, home is where he wants to be.
Bailey was working as a chef in New York, till she was thrown under the bus, by someone she trusted.
She's come back home, to Eagle's Ridge.
Ryder & Bailey, knew of each other.
They both feel this feud is ridiculous.
But can Ryder & Bailey, work together,
& end this feud, finding love along the way?
I loved the book, & really loved reading it!
A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE!!!

Although predictable I loved every minute of Ryder. Barbara has a way of making you feel like you are part of the story, like you are living every minute with the characters. She also makes you believe that you too can live your dreams if you just go for them

Ryder was a wonderful way to start off the 7 Brides for 7 Soldiers multi-author series. Here we had some internal family drama as well as two neighboring families who had been fighting for decades. But with the addition of some sweet romance, it definitely became a page-turner.

I think the premise behind this new series, seven soldiers who are all friends from Eagle’s Ridge, Washington and who each find their own HEA, is a pretty cool one. And the fact that each book is written by a different author, each of whom is well known and talented in their own right, just makes it even more intriguing. The installments all look to be hovering somewhere around the two hundred page mark, so not novellas but not super long books either. It did mean that the story happens quickly and I breezed through this one in no time, especially with Barbara Freethy’s flowing prose. Read More

There were elements of this that I really liked. The small town romance is a favorite of mine, as there is almost always a history with the characters and a past.

In this case, Ryder and Bailey are both members of families on the opposite side of a feud. And, this feud seems to color everything that they do, and everything the town is ok with or approves of. Part of me liked the idea of the quirky small town, but there was just something about this one that didn't totally work for me.

I think, for me, the romance was lost in the telling of the feud and the focus on elements of the same feud. It was funny, and it was quirky, but it felt more like a fiction story with some romance than a romance novel.

While I didn't dislike it, I definitely felt that some of the potential of the story wasn't met.

This book reaffirmed why I love a Barbara Freethy book! A great love story...a wonderful couple with believable, honest chemistry...and a 65 year old family feud!! What more can you ask for? Ryder has left a career flying Navy helicopters to come home, Bailey is a chef trying to find herself after trouble in NYC. They want to build a future together in Eagles Ridge...but need to get through to their grandfathers to do so.
This is the first of a 7 book series by 7 different authors...7 Brides for 7 Soldiers. I'm looking forward to reading them all!

When navy pilot Ryder Westbrook plane crashes the only thing he thinks about is returning home. He wants to expand the runway in hopes of bringing more business to town. In order for that to happen he needs the land that belongs to his family's sworn enemy.

Bailey Tucker is a chef who returns home after an embarrassing incident. She wants to forget everything that happened and try to start over.

Both Ryder and Bailey have something to prove and decide to join forces and find a way to end their families long held feud.

Great start with a terrific story

This is a wonderful first book in what looks to be a spectacular new series. Barbara Freethy has created the base for the series in the town of Eagle's Ridge, Washington. It was founded by four WWII veterans when they returned from the war. The town is firmly established but is fractured by old wounds. Our two main characters, Ryder Westbrook & Bailey Tucker, have returned home needing to restart their lives. Ryder is a veteran Navy helo pilot, Bailey is a gourmet chef and they represent each family faction in a 65 year old feud. Getting past hard feelings, ancient perceived wrongs and building a new future for family, friends & community becomes Ryder & Bailey's mission. Good thing they're both honest, strong and resourceful people, throw in some stubbornness just for good measure. Love ensues with much better results than Romeo & Juliet incurred. If this story is any indication, this new series is going to be awesome, because this book is outstanding!

I was really looking forward to this new series - 7 Brides for 7 Soldiers - all written by different authors, but taking place in the small town of Eagle’s Ridge. I’m a fan of small town romances, a fan of several of the authors, and who isn’t a fan of soldiers?! So I preordered this story by Barbara Freethy, and patiently waited for its release.

I won’t be making that mistake again though, because even though I’ve read Ms. Freethy before and enjoyed her books, this story ended up being a snooze-fest of epic proportions.

The story started out well. Our hero, Ryder, is in the middle of a rescue mission in the middle east, and as pilot of the helicopter his team is flying in, it’s his job to get them back to their base safely. But after being shot down and barely making it out alive, he’s decided it's time to go home to Eagle’s Ridge.

Once home, he’s taken over managing the town’s small airport and has big plans for expansion. The big problem? The land he needs to purchase to extend a runway is owned by the man his grandfather (and by extension his family) has had a feud with for 70 years.

Bailey has just returned home from New York City with her tail between her legs. Something awful happened with her job as a chef, and it was the demise of both her career and the relationship with a man she thought loved her. Of course, Bailey belongs to the family Ryder’s family is feuding with…

However, the two meet one night, and let their physical attraction start something they know their families won’t approve of. When they team up to help each other get what they are wanting, pitting them against their own families, sparks fly and the relationship moves pretty fast.

Like I said, I’ve read Barbara Freethy before, and liked what I read. But this book just didn’t work for me at all. The story seemed contrived and ridiculous, and mostly silly. I liked the characters, and the dialogue between them was good, but the faux Romeo and Juliet plot fell flat. Besides being hot for each other, and needing the other to help get what they want from the other side of the feuding families, I couldn’t understand why they fell in love.

So, despite my initial excitement about this series, I’ll now be a little more discerning about downloading and reading these other books. I’ll definitely be reading samples beforehand, because I’m just not willing to spend $3.99 and several hours reading something that wasn’t that entertaining to me.

I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this book by Ms. Freethy. Very different from the hardcore, open bedroom scenes that are the norm for me, I can’t believe not only how much I liked the quiet sweetness of Ryder, but how much I’m looking forward to the next books in this series. Ryder is our hero and he has returned home to start his new business, never anticipating that his business would require he talk to the youngest Tucker, Bailey. I really like Ryder. He had a good heart and was a gentleman…both sweet and sexy. I liked that he didn’t anticipate his attraction towards Bailey and the thrill of watching him discover that everything he never knew he wanted has always been right under his nose. Bailey is our heroine and she is licking her wounds in her hometown…the one place she thought she would never return to. Bailey is sassy and smart but a little beaten down after a rather nasty experience in her personal and professional life. The last thing she ever expected was to find safety in the arms of her families longstanding enemy….a Westbrook. But these two find there may be many reasons for them to take the lead to show their families that burying the hatchet may be a good thing…the chief being that they didn’t expect to find the other half of heart lying with one another. Their banter and easy camaraderie was cute and funny and was an aphrodisiac of it’s own kind. Them falling in love was like watching a romantic comedy…you knew they were going to and you couldn’t wait to see the happy ending but you enjoyed every minute of the journey getting there. This book was sexy but tasteful…with chaste kisses and closed door sex scenes. I won’t lie, it is predictable (really, I saw this ending coming a mile away) but still delivers a wonderfully sweet story of love and forgiveness and making things right for the future. Most of all, this book made me feel extremely good and slightly love-buzzed when I finished it. It also had me anticipating the next story in this series. Ms. Freethy did not disappoint and I can’t wait to see what the next book brings. 4 stars.

"Have you had enough to eat?"
"Yes. What I haven't had enough of is you."

I absolutely adored this story. I'm a sucker for the "love can overcome any obstacle" story line!

Ryder Westbrook was a Navy pilot. He's returned to Eagle's Ridge after being shot down on a mission. He's got big plans for the local airport that could mean increased tourism and revenue for his hometown. But, he's in for a fight. A long-standing feud between his family and the Tuckers over land, stands in the way of Ryder being able to purchase the land he needs for the expansion. He needs help. Tucker help. Turning to the youngest Tucker sibling, Bailey, he hopes she can help him bridge the battlefield between their families. Enlisting her help may be more difficult than he thought, as the feud is still very much alive in her heart. Can he convince her to help him? Can he keep his sights on his ultimate goal, or will his heart have a different goal in mind when it comes to Bailey? Once, he only saw her as the little sister of his friends Adam and Zane, but she is far from that little girl he knew.

Bailey had it all. She had a dream job as a chef in a New York City high end restaurant. She had the love of the man of her dreams. Until his lie tore them apart. Returning to Eagle's Ridge to lick her wounds and figure out what to do next, she finds herself face to face with Ryder Westbrook. The last person she wants to be around. His family stole land from hers and even though it happened decades ago, she can't let herself like a Westbrook. Or can she? When he comes to her for help with his plan for the town, can she let herself help him or let him flounder alone? Can she keep the walls up around her heart and protect it from being destroyed again, or is Ryder the one that will knock them down and protect it? What about their families? Her secret about the real reason she is back? Are the odds stacked against them?

I love this series. Each book by a different author, and each book amazing! Can't wait to read them all!

Ryder is the first book in the 7 Brides for 7 Soldiers series (all written by different authors). Ryder Westbrook has returned to his hometown after retiring from the Navy. His goal is to expand the airport and try to find a way to connect with his family, who generally show no emotion. In order to expand the airport, he needs land owned by the Tuckers. The problem is that the Westbrook and Tucker families have had an ongoing feud for over sixty years. Still he recruits Bailey Tucker to help his cause.

Bailey is a chef who has returned to her home to lick her wounds over a mishap in New York. The Westbrooks have something she wants as well, so she agrees to work with Ryan. The pair hope that by working together, they may be able to end the feud once and for all.

I liked Ryder and Bailey. Both are dealing with things that have happened to them that they need to work through together. Despite the hatred their grandparents have for one another, they have no problems working together. I liked how well they communicated with one another, which prevented unnecessary drama. That's not saying that everything was easy for them--they did have their moments of issues--but they were able to talk things out.

I would have liked to have seen if Ryder made any headway with his own father. One of the main reasons he returned home was because he wanted to try to have some semblance of a relationship with his parents. While he does finally confront his mother and have a heart-to-heart with her, he never does so with his father. Considering it was one of the reasons he returned, I would have liked to have seen some movement on that front.

Ryder is a great start to the series. Fans of Barbara Freethy's are not going to want to miss this one.

I’m usually a sucker for a good military hero, veteran or enlisted; this one fell short for me. Beyond the prologue and a few mentions of Ryder’s previous service, his military career was not a significant player in this book. I was a little bummed as I had assumed, based on the series title, his time in the military would play a more prominent role in the story.

Firstly, I loved Bailey and Ryder. They were fun to learn about, their relationship seemed very respectful and solid, even if it was insta-love. The fact they had been acquaintances for much of their lives helped with the acceptance of their quickly evolving relationship. I also appreciated how they used their love for one another to bring their long-feuding families beyond the sins of the past.

I appreciated the world building Barbara Freethy began in Ryder. This series is coming from multiple authors, so having a firm idea of what the world of the series is, is very important. I have a good understanding of the dynamics of the town, the relationships of the people within it, and forces at work within the town. I’m glad to have that info going forward into the rest of the series.

Ryder was a sweet, quick read. I was hoping for something a little heavier, that expectation wasn’t fulfilled which is not a reflection on the book, but on my own desires. I did find a few minutes of the book bordering on cheesy, I loved how deeply Ryder and Bailey cared for one another, but a few instances were just a little too much, for me.

While Ryder wasn’t the best book, I’ve ever read it laid out fantastic groundwork for the rest of the series, both with the world it’s set in and the characters we’ve met. I commend Ms. Freethy for building up my intrigue for the series and can’t wait to see what is in store for us with the other six couples.

Eagle's Ridge has welcomed home two of its own in very different circumstances. Bailey Tucker has come home to hide & lick her wounds. She was a chef in New York City until someone she trusted betrayed her. Her dream is to run her own restaurant. Eagle's Ridge has a perfect spot but it's owned by the Westbrook's. Will she stay in Eagle's Ridge or will she head back to a big city?

Ryder Westbrook has come home after serving in the Navy as a helicopter pilot for 10 years. After an accident, he has reassessed his priorities & wants a better relationship with his family. He's taken over the town airport but wants to lengthen a runway to get more traffic. The land he needs is owned by the Tucker's. Can he convince them to sell it? Both Bailey & Ryder want something from each other's family. Can they make their grandfathers see common sense & end this 65 year feud?

Barbara Freethy has started this series off with a bang. The characters are well developed & likable. The interactions between Ryder, Bailey & their grandfathers add dimension to the family dynamics & added emotion to the feud. Her descriptions of the scenes & people allow the reader to create pictures in their mind as they are reading. The emotion evident in her writing has always allowed me to sink into the story & absorb all that is going on. I can't wait to see what the other writers come up with!

Ryder Westbrook was a pilot in the Navy. He is back home and wants to start his second career at the local airfield. Unfortunately the Westbrooks and the Tuckers are feuding ( and have been feeding for about 65 years) and the land he needs is on the disputed land of the Tucker's. He decides to try and get Bailey Tuckers to help him. Bailey is a chef that just went through something terrible in New York. She is back in town to try and decide what direction she wants to go. Ryder and Bailey are very attracted to each other. This makes for an interesting situation.

Ryder and Bailey's grandfathers used to be best friends until something happened about 65 years ago. The Westbrooks were wealthy and supposedly had the better land than the Tuskers. I loved that Bailey and Ryder wanted to work together to stop the feud so their families could get along. I loved Bailey's father and how laid back he was. I kept thinking there was something going on with his long term employee, but there wasn't a story there yet. I very much enjoyed the story and can't wait u till the next books comes. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book.

This is the first book in a series called 7 Brides for 7 Soldiers. This is ex Navy pilot Ryder Westbrook and Chef Bailey Tucker’s story. The Tucker and Westbrook families have a feud that dates back 65 years. Their Grandfathers don’t speak but the younger generation thinks the feud needs to end. Ryder wants to expand the local airport to bring in more tourists to help the local businesses and also make it better for search and rescue operations. To do it he needs Tucker land. Chances of his getting that land are slim to zero. He enlists Bailey to help him. Bailey has come back to town to heal from a betrayal in her personal and professional life. Bailey and Tucker have great chemistry together but being from opposite sides of the feud could create problems with their families.

This is a great love story. It is about 2 people who aren’t willing to give up on their personal or professional dreams no matter what the odds against success. There are some great characters in this book and I look forward to seeing more of them in future books in the series. Thank you to the author for an advanced copy of this book for a fair review. I would give this book 4 1/2 stars.

Feuds. Let’s be done with it, but no, I’m still mad! I was wronged and now more generations will continue this to honor their ancestors…who are still living…and still mad!

Ryder Westbrook and Bailey Tucker, both coming back to Eagle’s Ridge and both needing something from each other’s feuding families.

Ryder is back from a near death experience when his helicopter is shot down in enemy territory. He decides to come home, recuperate, and settle down. His dream is to expand the airport, but he runs into a problem because the property he needs is Tucker land.

Bailey has her reputation as an up and coming chef ruined by her former employer/boyfriend, and comes home to lick her wounds, then realizes that her future lies in a Westbrook owned property.

Getting families back together, who have been enemies for decades, isn’t easy. A near tragedy allows Ryder and Bailey ease their grandfathers back from the feud, so friendships can be mended and lives can move forward.

This is the beginning of a 7 book series with 7 different authors! Ms. Freethy has set the scene for this series with Ryder, and I can’t wait for the rest of the books!

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Another great read by Barbara Freethy that I couldn’t put down. This about falling in love, second chances and forgiveness. Ryder is just coming back from the military to his small home town. He has dreams to expand the airport to bring more business to the town.
Bailey studied around the world to be one of the best chefs she could be until she fell in love with the wrong man. He threw her under the bus for his own mistake and ruined her career. Now she came home to figure out what she is going to do next.
Ryder needs some of the Tucker land so he decides to ask Bailey for help. Bailey knows her grandfather is not going to give it up. There is too much hatred. As Ryder and Bailey become friends and realize there is something more. Ryder shows Bailey the restaurant that used to be run by his grandmother and Bailey can see her dream forming. But will Ryder’s grandfather ever allow anyone but a Westbrook in there?
Can two young people make the older generation get over their decades long feud for not only the success of the town but the success and happiness of their grandchildren?

This is the first book in the series of 7 Brides for 7 Soldiers. There are 7 books which are each written by a different author. There has been a 65 yr family feud between the Tucker and Westbrook families. John Westbrook believes that Max Tucker stole the best land from him. Ryder is taking over at the Eagle's Ridge Airfield and would like to lengthen the runway. He needs to buy some of the Tucker land he in order to do this. Can he convince Bailey to help him end this feud between their grandparents? Will Ryder and Bailey be able to do this without falling for each other? I didn't enjoy this one very much. Its not a bad story but just couldn't get into the plot. It just didn't interest me. I did however enjoy reading about Ryder and Bailey and what became of them. I still think if you love Barbara's books that you should give this one a try. You may just find that you love it since we all like different things in our books. I will still check out the other books in this series with hopes I'll enjoy them.
