➳Honestly, nothing can ever go wrong with a good, down to fuck, smutt romance. Alexa Riley will never disappoint when it comes down to that reality. Especially when a sexy, man cruncher beast is involved, wanting to mate with his true soul mate. Hello?! GIVE ME SOME RIGHT NOW!
➳Also, we have a virgin heroine who is ready to be melted in the arms of her lover. Not a lot can say, "hey she isn't amazing," but I can because everything about her made me feel so much compassion towards her and her loss of a family. That's when "Bear" comes in and takes of her, and her heart making my pant for more of this sexy, rough, but also tamed beast of a fighter.
➳If you are a fan of Alexa Riley, then you already know that you can finish one of their novels in like an hour. They are slowly starting to make longer novels which to be honest I. AM. LOVING! With her previous release of PRETTY GIRL, the length of the novel was a tad bit longer than their previous releases, as well as SHELTERED. So I'm glad we are getting more of them and more "girth-y" as well...

Another hit!
I absolutely adored this little juicy nugget! It is exactly what I've come to love about a classic Alexa Riley story. It was packed full of the OTT alpha antics, an extremely likable heroine and it was completely safe! I could read books like this every day!
-no cheating
-no pushing away
-no violence of a sexual nature
-OTT caveman alpha
-instalove
-great epilogues that were 1 month. 8 months and 10 YEARS out.

So this particular Alexa Riley book was a disappointment. I can't believe I got through all of it and managed to survive.
Virgin in the City first appealed to me because both the hero and heroine were virgins and it's a trope I like reading about. But they really went over the top this time. Pepper annoyed me so much and I got so frustrated that I contemplated tossing my phone at the wall more than once... I get that AR heroines have to be innocent, but a heroine with the mind of a 5-year-old? Because that's literally the vibe I got when I was in Pepper's head. She was so fucking naïve and stupid it was ridiculous.
... No. Just no.
Objectively this is one of my pet peeves, so if it's something that appeals to you, take this review with a pinch of salt. But I was so annoyed throughout reading this book. One star, but Alexa Riley writes decent hot scenes, so I'm adding another star for that.

This has everything you’d expect in a book from these authors but there’s more of it. While I like Alexa’s books they are always far too short.
Bear is the huge muscled fighter who falls fast and hard for Pepper. Pepper or Pep as she’s known is a cute, sweet, naive (and I do mean naive) good girl. She needs a protective boyfriend more than most women.
This was such a cute beautiful read.
The last Alexa book I read was Mobster and while I loved it I was annoyed that the H constantly referred to the h as doll face. So I couldn’t believe it when...
“Think I’ll stick with ‘doll face.’ It fits you.”
No, no don’t (and not 28 times) her name is Pep and it’s cute so use it.

3.5 Across the Hall Love Stars

This is a cover to love... It tweaks all of our instinctual memories of Sex in the City! It has implied big city adventures. With this set up we are ready for a story of this damsel in the city.
Pepper comes from a small town. She has naive written all over her pretty face. She lost her parents and has taken the pain and turned it into going forward and fulfilling her dream to live in the big city. With the financial support her parents left her, Pepper was able to do her YouTube videos of her crafting and refurbishing of items. She loves to take things, redo them and then sell them on Ebay and Esty. All of her sweetness is poured into these items and sometimes it is hard for her to sell them.
There is all sorts of excitement in the building Pepper lives in. There is a new owner of the building and rumor has it that it is a local fella who made good as a fighter. He is moving in today and it seems like he is going to be her across the hall neighbor. Pepper knows she shouldn't but pulls over her stool to look through her peephole in the door.
Through that little view she saw the most powerful man... so big and strong. She tried to get a better look and fell off the stool squeaking as she fell on her butt. Not long after there was a knock at her door...There was Theodore, a UFC fighter, standing before her asking for her parents...
Pepper explained she was on her own and not a kid...He introduced himself and said friends called him Teddy... Pepper said like in Teddy Bear... and he smiled calling her Doll Face.
These two feel the tingle and a sweet little seed is planted. Bear is surprised how much this woman has got him thinking about her. Bear has been in the fight game for years. He recently moved to his old neighborhood to resettle. He is ramping up for his last big fight and he has no time to be distracted in anyway...But he is... This Pepper is so cute, sweet and very different from any woman he has ever come across.
Pepper is quite taken with Bear, too. She hasn't had any experience with guys and she is sort of clueless about how all of these things work. She is concerned about Bear being a Fighter. Her dad was one and her mother met him when she was a ring girl. Pepper's aunt has drilled into her fighters have no control so she should stay away... but Pepper doesn't get that feeling about Bear.
As you can figure out ...These two become like magnets... they cannot stay apart. Both of them are not experienced so all of this new excitement works to ramp up where it cannot be contained.
This book did more backstory and plot points then most AR books. There were the sexy times for sure, but there was also more story involving fighters and secondary characters. I happened to like the sweet and more layered tale. Was it like Sex in the City... not exactly. But the cover was so cute, the story had very sweet characters and I enjoyed my time with them.

Carbs sneaking...
Mild drama and HEA+ 3 extended epilogues!
Im not the biggest fan of virgin heroes, but this story really reminded me of Brey and Becs from "The Virgin Duet"- and that is one of AR's best.

Pepper is nothing to sneeze at. No, literally, don't. She's so tiny it might just blow her away. Especially if it comes from her new neighbor and landlord, Teddy, or Bear as she immediately nicknamed him.
Three months ago, Pepper left her small hometown and the aunt that raised her, wanting to use her crafting skills and natural designing talent to make something of herself in the big city. She's made friends easily, people just drawn to her pure soul, and when her apartment building is purchased by a new tenant, she's speechless upon seeing him.
Teddy, or Cannon as the MMA world knows him, is preparing for his last fight, and what better place than his hometown and the people that know and love him, not who he became. Purchasing the building he grew up in just made sense, and seeing his new neighbor across the hall from him brings even more into focus, namely that she's the one he's been waiting for...in every way.

AR at their best. This was longer than what they’ve been putting out and it made all of the difference. I felt like I got to know the characters. Bear was sweet, possessive and all about Pepper. Pepper was super sweet and naive but just what bear needed.

Pepper and Bear are absolutely adorable together. When she first opens her door, he knows that he is the one that is going to protect her. She thinks of him as a teddy bear even though he could rip someone in half. The next fight is what Teddy has always been focused on but now he has a new purpose in life and will do everything in his power to make sure it’s protected.

Nobody writes insta-romances with over-the-top protective and possessive alpha males like Alexa Riley does. I love getting lost in their stories which are quick and sexy reads and you can never go wrong reading them. In Virgin In The City we get a story of a woman moving to the big city with big dreams and bigger determination. Then she meets her new neighbor!
Bear needs to train for his last fight and has come home to do it. What he never expected was Pepper and her affect on him. She literally brought him to his knees. I absolutely loved everything Bear did for Pepper. He is your typical Alexa Riley hero and he ones we have come to love. Pepper was young and innocent, but she also knew what she wanted. Another great read from this writing duo.

Alexa Riley is truly the master of insta love romances. This book was perfect! Teddy (Bear) and Pepper (Doll Face) were great characters who had amazing chemistry together! This book was the perfect blend of sweet and sexy with a tad bit of drama.

Longer then the average AR story, this one had a higher story line to smut ratio. It was so sweet, soft, squishy, cute and saccharine. I really enjoyed reading it. I loved Pepper and Bear, so cute. There were a few editing errors, but nothing major. Oh... the first passion experience between Bear and Pepper read a bit high schoolish, insta "pop" (more humorous in my opinion then sweet). Overall great read.

Virgin In The City is double what we from from AR because not only do we get one virgin but we get two! And if you've read an AR book, you know that no one can do pure smut, over the top cheesiness, and virgin romances like they can.
There was something about Bear that I just couldn't get enough of. Here he is, this big fighter with full force protectiveness over Pepper but a huge softy. He wants nothing more than to keep her happy and and safe. Plus, he's a beast in the bed and I envied Pepper every moment.
I also liked Pepper. I loved how sweet she was but at the same time she knew just how to handle Bear. She knew how and when to rev him up and she was just cute overall.
If you like the alpha fighters who fall hard for the sweet, innocent virgin then Virgin in the City is for you. It hits on all the sweet spots but in your heart and on your body ;)

VIRGIN IN THE CITY is a hot insta-love novella about a quirky and innocent DIY-lover and aspiring designer who moved to the city. She fell in love with Bear, the fierce UFC champion who owned the building where she lives. While he was preparing for his last fight, she became more than an inspiration, she became his world. Loved Bear! He was revered in his city and in the MMA world but with Pepper, he was such a gentle giant with a naughty streak. This was a feel-good sexy read. I super enjoyed this book!

This book was everything you'd expect, and then turn up the sweetness another notch or two! Pepper and Bear have pretty good lives overall. Both are doing what they want and making their own way, but once they meet, that is it, they are for each other. They set everything to simmer for a bit, and some hanky-panky, and then they are off to the races, um, fights. A little bit of discord, but pretty smoothly handled. Of course, we get the epilogues with the glimpses into the future that complete the HEA!

Pepper and Bear are amazing! I loved this book so much. This was a bulkier story and less about the sexy times (not that they weren't there) and it was fantastic. Highly recommend!

I feel so spoiled when we get a double V. This novella seemed a bit longer than Alexa Riley's normal. And I love that. Took a bit longer for them to get together and had some drama! Perfect.
