My boss saw it...
The diary where I wrote all the hot shit about him.
By shit, I really mean SHIT.
Like the highest degree of criticism you will ever find.

I couldn't help it, okay.
It's pretty stressful working for the jerk,
And I needed a place to vent.
I just never thought I'd be stupid enough to accidentally hand over the notebook from hell to him.

Guess I might as well start writing my resignation letter.
Because there will definitely be no mercy from the Devil.
Or so, I thought.
Instead, Mr. Grumps came back with more orders.
And no, they were not orders about reformatting his documents for the nth time.

If I wanted to keep my job, I had to pretend.
Pretend not to hate him.
Pretend to be head over heels in love with him.
Pretend to be his girlfriend.

Hell, the devil really knows how to strike his bargain.
Now, I had to choose.
Which one would be worst?
Losing my hard-earned job or inviting the Devil into my life as my "boyfriend"?

Hmm....it was okay. I was excited to read this one. I liked the premise but it quickly pivoted to something else entirely. It wasn't funny, probably because it seemed a little forced.

Sutton had this really strange lurching way of speaking. I say that because it reminded me of when someone is constantly gunning the gas, then slamming on the brakes, and you keep lurching forward and back....well that's how she talked. She would start to speak....then cut herself off....then rush a few words....then cut herself off....Just. Like. This. (This was also an example of how it was written, including the one word sentences for emphasis, which also gets annoying when overused).

Phillipe was a hot mess, that I didn't even think was that hot. There were multiple instances where Sutton was comforting him and he was drenched in cold sweat. She was hugging and rubbing him in his damp clothes and running her hands through his sweat matted hair. It was not hot and detracted from the good that was happening between them.
Jim Carrey Sweat GIF - Find & Share on GIPHY

Also his reasons for being an asshole to everyone doesn't hold water and made him seem like an unapologetic asshole. "I know I'm being a dick but I can't stop myself" is not an apology or excuse.

These things just made their chemistry completely unbelievable. It wasn't even that hot during the good bits because everything was called weird names like va-jay and dingle. Again if it was supposed to be funny or cute, it wasn't. This just had a weird disconnected feel to it and I have read other books of the author's I thought were good so hopefully this was just a one off or just me.

A sweaty hot mess

I really wanted to like this book because the beginning was really great with the electronic diary thing. But as I got further into the book, I started disconnecting from the characters.

Philippe, the grumpy boss, would get panic attacks and he would get sweaty from them, but the description was that it made him seem to flow rivers of sweat. I'm not really sure why Sutton would kiss him or even think he's attractive during this time. She should have made him shower first before she put her hands or lips on him. He sounds gross.

I'm not sure why Sutton, who has worked for Philippe for three years, with zero attraction him would suddenly want him after he has one of his panic attacks that leaves him a blubbering mess.

I also don't understand why Sutton gets mad during some parts of the book. I know it is a way for the author to say that Philippe finds it cute that she has her piques, but the reasons are pretty lame and just makes her come off as a bit of a batch when she is supposed to be "nice".

I'm going to pass on the next book and other books by this author, which is a shame because i was hoping to find a new author to like.

Sutton Sethford has worked as the personal assistant to Philippe Wilson for four years, ever since his father died tragically in a car accident and Philippe took over the billion dollar company that his father started. Philippe is ... not easy to work for. In addition to his surly attitude, Sutton has been asked to write reports last minute, take care of his dry cleaning, reconcile his bills, search out his gluten free food and even buy his underwear. And, she does it all with a smile ... while writing and venting to a diary she keeps on the company computer. In an accident of all accidents, Sutton sends Philippe the diary instead of a report. But, instead of being angry, Philippe is amused and decides to use the diary as leverage to get Sutton to pretend to be his date for his sisters wedding.

Yikes. This was ... not good.

It was heavy on monetary value ... the cost of the dress Sutton wears to the wedding, the value of Philippe's car, the cost of the menu items at the restaurant they go on their first fake date. And, I think I get what the author was going for. Philippe is described as rude and mean and grumpy, relatively young and very wealthy. He appears to not care about his employees or something so insignificant as the cost of the steak at dinner (it's like $100). Sutton is supposed to be kind and caring, living with her grandmother and helping to take care of her financially. Sutton values kindness and relationships, Philippe wealth and appearance, and somehow Sutton is able to see through the veneer and who Philippe really is or would rather be.

But, it just wasn't done well. There are places in the book where there are almost no details/information ... where are Sutton's parents? why didn't Philippe pay for his sisters wedding if he has all that money? why does his sister/mom seem more concerned with money? why in the world would Philippe wear jeans to his sisters wedding? why did Sutton move to working with Philippe? why is his mom disappointed in him? And, then there are random places in the book where there's a weird amount of information ... like the cost of dinner at the restaurant. and what the chairs in the hotel looked like for the wedding. and what happens when Philippe eats gluten.

And, maybe this is just me, but there was an awful lot of poop, pee and fart mentions. Everybody poops, but I don't know that I've ever really read that much about it in a romance novel before. In one scene, Sutton is throwing up in some bushes and part of Philippe's internal dialogue is about his gag reflex. Just, I don't know. I could have done without that.

The whole thing just felt juvenile ... the character interactions, the plot development, the random descriptions.

The idea was a good one. I like that the hero was so flawed, suffering from panic attacks and dealing with the loss of his father. I like that Sutton was supposed to be able to see through the "grumpiness." But, it could have used better development. And less fart jokes.

Normally I like this authors books but this one didn't work for me. I know that I was supposed to not like Philippe but I personally liked him better than Sutton. Maybe because in the beginning she just rubbed me the wrong way. I didn't even feel sorry that she got caught. The only good thing is that in the end everybody was happy.

Miss grumpy

I really wanted to like this but Sutton was just so salty and judgemental all the way through and I couldn’t get any warmth from her character at all, only on very rare occasions. Turns out she was grumpier than her boss most of the time. Shame.

Yo, Sutton's parents treated her terribly by not being in her life at all it seems or very rarely, but she still justifies it as "I know they love me". My parents love each other, but they still take my sister and me on family vacations, we still live with them, my grandparents didn't raise me...Surprised the grandma put up with that behavior from one of her kids. The grandma didn't seem to take nonsense.

Okay, nevermind, she said a few pages later that she felt that they never really wanted her, which was true.

Okay end rant

This book was really good. I don't know what all those other reviews were saying. I almost didn't read this book because of some of the reviews. This book had me laughing out loud a few times. I loved the jacuzzi scene & basically the encounter in Philippe's bathroom (basically all the steamy bits lol).

Philippe didn't even seem like that bad of a boss. When your someone's personal assistant (I guess she was his secretary though) sometimes it is part of the job to order them underwear or food. I mean, it's not the best to ask for it all the time, but once or twice isn't terrible. Looking ordering somebody something is probably easier to do than actual work, LOL. Yeah, and he also never really seemed like that much of a dick.

Philippe seemed to maybe have some slight mental health issues--the panic attacks & nightmares at night, which were from stress. But obviously an extreme reaction to some stress. I don't know if he continued to see a therapist and that made the difference, or that it got better with being with Sutton? Because I know it was at least partially because of the latter.

I honestly would not have minded the book being longer. It was a short read. At the end, before the epilogue, they don't even say "I love yous". They just decide to start dating. So the epilogue fast-tracked the end of their romance to them moving in together & getting married.

I thought I had read some of this author's books before, but that was actually author Emma Hart. Anyways, I'll probably read another of Lindsey Hart's books!!

I enjoyed Sutton and Phillipe's story. She was one woman who told it like it is and in this case she kept a journal on her arrogant boss. Things started to heat up when she sent him the journal by mistake. In his own subtle way he took charge and didn't fire her like she thought he might. Instead he ordered her to be his pretend girlfriend. This book had me in laughs half the time. Their back and forth banter was hilarious. The author had a good writing style and I loved how the alpha, hunky man also had panic attacks. The characters were likable and the slow-burn that developed between them was definitely an emotional roller coaster. A good book that I enjoyed. I love it when I find a book many think is average (or terrible) and when I decide to read it anyway, it turns out to be sooooo good.

I thoroughly enjoyed this romantic comedy! Who would disagree with writing like “My vagina, however, is doing a happy dance. Detaching from me, burning her bra, and parading around the room screaming something along the lines of holy fuck yeah, this is living at last!”

My only critique is that I wanted to PRESENT for a particular scene, but instead that moment was narrated in the epilogue. I almost took off a whole star for that! But I settled at a 4.5.

Definitely recommend for a light, funny, romantic, read with a lot of sexual tension.

This book grabbed my attention from chapter one. I had to seriously muffle my laughs when I was reading it at work. Once you start it you can't put it down. Sutton has an i don't give a f personality. Phillipe's demeanor is more subtle. Their back and forth will leave you wanting more.

The story was enjoyable and easy to read, however some of the language and phrases used felt somewhat immature in contrast to the mature content. Although the story was good it felt reminiscent of an early fan-fiction/Wattpad kind of piece.

Show don’t tell

This was heavily loaded with telling me things in the story instead of showing me and letting it form in my mind. The whole do you know how babies are made was silly. A good idea, just needed and editor to help show them how to word things better.

JFC this is some stupid arse shite right here. Should have expected it with that cover 🤣. Overkill much? That kind of ripped definition is so fake. It looks artificial and is unattractive to me. A fit guy with natural musculature is sexier and doesn't look like he's trying to prove something.
And who the HELL even stands like that, anyway?
A bad cover is one thing. But the heroine is a jerk and a badly executed one because she flip-flopped from hateful to kind like a switch was flipped. And the hero's voice is sooo feminine it's a bloody joke. I loathe dual POV for a few reasons but this is the main one. I don't hear a man here. I hear a woman who is clueless about how men think trying to sound like a man.
Lame plot, lousy characterisation. Lots of boner and 'lady part' talk and, nope. Just no.
Don't waste my time.

Writing is not this person's strong suit - at least in the opinion of this reader.

I liked the guy having panic attacks and being stressed trying to fill his dad's shoes. However, I didn't like that she was given a raise to be with him. They should have traded favors instead of making it sexual harassment, he goes to the doctor if she goes to the wedding with him.

A Light, Sweet, Comical and Colorful Romance!

After just finishing a really twisted mystery/thriller where it's hard to tell the good guys from the bad; where a lot of people die; and the ending, while not bad, was not exactly an HEA, I was in dire need of something light, maybe a little comical and with a real HEA. This book definitely fit the bill ... Beautifully!
Loved the characters ... The H and h and even Grandma! They are sweet, funny, sassy, troubled and real!
The Hero is demanding, skips the please and thank you's, makes it known when he's displeased, and yes, grumpy. His staff are nervous around him and try to stay out of his way when they think he's angry or displeased; all except the h, his assistant, who has her own way of dealing with him). There are reasons for his grumpiness but I'll let you discover those yourself. Suffice to say he really is a nice guy, just a very troubled one. He has a mother and sister who worry about him and his lack of a life outside the business. He may have told his Mom he was bringing a date (a very new girlfriend of only two months) to his sister's wedding so she'd stop bugging and worrying about him. He could just say she had an emergency come up at the last minute and couldn't make it.
The heroine is intelligent, dependable, compassionate, beautiful (in a simple way) and down to earth. She rents a basement apt from her Grandma, whom she loves dearly, to help her Grandma out financially. Grandma is a sassy thing who offers sage advice like keeping a journal to vent about said grumpy boss. The h has a very creative and colorful way of expressing herself in her journal and otherwise.
When she mistakenly attaches her journal to an email to her boss (instead of the financial report she corrected) she is certain she will be fired. But rather than being angry, he is amused at her colorful and creative language and analogies. Hating to disappoint his Mom, he uses the situation to convince her to be his date/fake girlfriend at his sister's wedding in exchange for deleting and forgetting about the journal...and a raise. Though hesitant, she can't pass up the offer, the extra money will help with Grandma's meds). What ensues, as they get to know each other better and reveal their true selves, is a funny and colorful exchange as they both try to convince themselves (and each other) that what they feel isn't real. Turns out the H can be just as colorful and creative as the h.
There's very little angst in this story. I loved that the H doesn't except her resignation notice at face value and decides to confront her and put it all on the line, even if it turns out she feels nothing for him and rejects him. (Of course she doesn't, he really did turn out to be a scrumptious sweetheart).
If you need something to cleanse your mental palette after reading a dark, twisted and/or intense story, or if you just like your romances light, sweet, a little comical and colorful, I highly recommend this book. (Warning, the sex is graphic and hot!)

I received a free ARC copy in exchange for my honest review. This is my own opinion and was not influenced by anyone. Sutton Sethford works for an arrogant, ranting, mean boss. She vents her troubles with him to an electronic diary, which she accidentally sends to him instead of a report. Sutton lives with her 84 year old Granny. This woman is a hoot and says what she thinks. I love her.

Phillipe Wison is Sutton's boss. He is also a very trouble man. His father died suddenly a few years ago and he became the one to keep his father's company successful. He is not sleeping, has nightmares when he does sleep and full blown panic attacks while awake.

Phillipe agrees to forget about her diary if she agrees to go to his sister's wedding with him and he gives her a hefty raise so she can afford to pay her Granny's health insurance.

During a practice date , they venture beyond the boss, employee relationship and way beyond a fake relationship. How can they go back? They are supposed to be fooling his family but are they fooling themselves?

Phillipe is struggling. He is terrified that he will screw up the successful business his father built up from nothing. He feels like he is a constant disappointment to his mother and sister. Sutton has a heart of gold and she cares, even though she thinks her boss is a privileged, spoiled man. Plus she is starting to notice the man has the body of the gods and maybe his heart is a little bigger than he wants to let on. Outside of the office he begins see Sutton is beautiful and oh so sexy. Their attraction to each other is undeniable.

Sutton and Phillipe have amazingly hot sex. The more they try to stand strong the hotter their chemistry becomes. Lindsey Hart has crafted two flawed people who find strength in each other. Phillipe, even though he is an @ss around others, can be so tender and sweet to Sutton. Sutton leads with her heart. Her compassion for Phillipe reveals just how big of a heart she has.

The story at no point lags. The writing is so witty. For example Sutton is staring at the floor to avoid looking at her boss, Phillipe. The line written is: "I’ve developed a fixation with the industrial carpet at the moment." Ha! I turned the pages because I wanted more of this couple, who I couldn't help but love. This is my first book of Lindsey Hart but I will definitely be reading more.

Just be you...

Philippe Wilson - Young, handsome and rich beyond measure is a young man who is having an identity crisis. As a young man Philippe experienced a loss so deep that it has altered his life and shifted him from being a carefree and fun loving young man to a life chosen to please other and not please himself. Philippe is now the man of the family and must step into the very large shoes that his father has left. Will he be able to trust in what he has learned from his father as a child or will he live a life to please others never acknowledging that he is good enough and worthy to live his life on his own terms... maybe even find love???

Sutton Sethford is an industrious young woman with a past of her own. Sutton's entire life has been one big surprise... to her parents and to her granny. Although the circumstances were not the best Sutton had the love and acceptance that allowed her to become a successful woman who is working for one of the hottest billionaire bachelors in the city... but man is he a pain in her neck! The Grumpster runs the business with a firm hand and everyone is on pins and needles. One great escape for Sutton is to release herself of the stresses of her work life to be able to continue working with the Grumpster. Who would have thought that he would infiltrate her personal thoughts... and then use them to manipulate her!?!?! I mean how dare he!!! Caught between a rock and a hard place will Sutton hold up her end of the deal or will she tire of the game and forge a new path on her own???

This was a semi funny novel with two good characters who were a little mischaracterized. I liked Philippe but he was wounded and had areas in his life where he felt confident but other areas in his life where it appeared he was still trying to find himself. It just felt like he was a child visiting the office but never fully occupying it because he had not come to terms his loss. Sutton had such empathy for him and understood as much as she could from the outside. It was nice to see her allowing him to just be who he is and come to terms with areas and issues in his life that he was never able to open up to anyone else about. It was still a good read!

The Boss from Hell Meets His Saving Angel

Sutton Sethford is the 27-year-old administrative assistant for Philippe Wilson, better known around the office as Hades or the Devil or Lucifer—all personas for the the evil creature who stormed through her office emitting his fiery demands. The problem is she can’t exactly have “PA for Hades” added to the name plaque on her desk. But, all who actually work for the sinfully handsome CEO Philippe Wilson would not challenge her description of him as the boss from hell. And, for three years she has dealt with his evil moods that certainly go past “grumpy” on the “bossometer”, routinely landing in the level of “hellacious,” making the work place environment tense. And, having provided the same services for his deceased dad, a kind, easy-going boss, the son’s disposition following the dad’s death has created an unpleasant work environment, especially for his PA.

So finally, tired of her tirades at home, her Granny has encouraged the auburn-haired beauty to record her frustrations in a diary of sorts—a boss dump. And, not one for long-handing her complaints, Sutton has created a file on her computer, a “Diary Therapy Thingy”, that at least keeps the venting and ranting at work, instead of dumping the fiery venom of her ire on her loving and patient grandmother.

Satisfied with her computer “therapy sessions”, Sutton carries on with her daily dumps until she is commanded to rework a file error that caused a storm at the last stockholders’ meeting. After correcting the storm-causing file, Sutton attaches the corrected file to the email and returns it to Philippe, aka Hades. Mentally marking that experience as “task done,” she moves on to the next task until she receives a request from Hades himself for her to explain her attachment entitled “Diary Therapy Thingy”! Could this understandable oversight from a hardworking and supportive assistant who helps the boss hide his own panic attacks send Sutton to the streets, seeking a new job?

Lindsay Hart once more examines and crushes some of society’s misconceptions of how a woman should act, look and love and respond to the male dominated work setting. Hart lets the readers fully appreciate the challenges faced by both men women seeking honesty and truthfulness in relationships, and desiring to be true to themselves. She offers the perfect comeback to the false patterns which society, and one’s on expectations, impose on the individual.

OH How I laughed with these two.
This is such a great read. I laughed so much.
Sutton admin assistant to Philippe Wilson. And there are days where she believes him to be the devil himself.
Sutton lives in a flat underneath her Grannie who is quick witted and so so funny. Her Grannie said she should write in a diary as she has so many run ins with her boss, it would be a great way to relief stress. She thought it was silly to begin with them she found herself writing more and more. And I agree she would make one hell of a writer I could of read more and more from her diary entrees. She doesn't have much of a life outside from her job as Phillippe has an uncanny way of asking for things late on Friday ready for Monday morning.
Philippe is one grumpy boss who thinks that he can demand anything as he has the money for it. But ever since the death of his father he has been suffering with panic attacks and he cant even remember the last time he had a full nights sleep. Which isn't helping with his attitude at work.
Once again Sutton gets called into go and see what is wrong with the boss, when Sutton gets there he is full panic attack and the blame for the attack was Sutton. She had messed up on a report that he had just used in a meeting and it made him look like he didnt have a clue what he was talking about. Once Sutton helps him calm down he gets her to fix the problem and resend the report. She gets back to her office and quickly sees her error and attaches the files and sends it back to him. to only realise that she has just send her grumpy boss her diary where she isn't very kind to him. OH NO.......
Philippe cant believe what he is reading and he quickly calls her back.. And gets her to agree to go as his fake girlfriend to his sisters wedding what could go wrong??????
THIS IS SO FUNNY I WAS LAUGHING SO HARD AT TIMES BUT THERE WAS ALSO A CONNECTION BETWEEN THIS TWO. WHEN THEY ARE ALONE THE CONVO'S ARE QUICK AND WITTY AND THE PASSION IS OFF THE CHARTS. I JUST COULDNT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN IT REALLY CHEERED ME UP YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPPOINTED IN GETTING THIS BOOK ITS BRILLIANT

I absolutely loved this story! There are your Alphas who are all strong and dominant but in this story, the boss who seems all so Alpha on the outside is all upside down feelings inside. I enjoyed reading a story where the Alpha is totally realistic and isn't perfect and needs help but doesn't know how to ask for help. I like reading stories where the characters are realistic instead of being perfect and all put together.

Sutton is the 27-year-old admin assistant to the top boss. Her parents didn't have much time for her so she spent time with her beloved grandmother. She now lives with her grandmother, okay, in the apartment in the basement of her grandmother's house. She has always been a good girl, but when her boss pushes her buttons and she is ready to blow a gasket, her grandmother told her to keep a diary of her feelings. Her grandmother had more in mind of her writing it in a book, not on her company computer. When she accidentally sends her diary to the boss instead of the report he is waiting for, she is horrified and ready to be fired. When she walks into his office, she sees him smiling, for the first time ever.

Philippe has taken over his late father's business. His parents were still madly in love with each other. His father built up the business from nothing but always put family first. With his unexpected death, Philippe had to take over and is terrified that he will ruin his father's business. He has yet to get over the grief of losing him and is so unsure of his business abilities that his panic attacks are coming on more often. Thankfully Sutton is always there to help him get through it without anyone else knowing about it. When he reads her diary, which was supposed to be the report she was to send, he gets a good laugh at what she has to write about him. Being that he has been trying to hold back his attraction to her because it just wouldn't be right to have a relationship with his assistant, he now has found a way that he can keep her around and solve the problem about who he is going to take as his date to his sister's wedding.

I am so looking forward to more books by Lindsey Hart. She always knows how to write a story you want to read!

I'm not sure what to say.
In the beginning it was a lot of fun, had a few good laughs and I thought it was a nice twist to have the boss be the messed up one for a change.
But then I dunno it got old. A lot of the jokes and funny lines lost their humor once you'd heard them one too many times. And where was the romance? I mean their actual "romancing" was summed up in about 2 sentences.

Also, I remember around the 30% mark was the first time I was actually weirded out, put off by things and this trend continued throughout the rest of the book.
Like there were a number of situations where when you stopped to thing about it they were really incredibly gross.

And I have to agree with the people who mentioned liking him better than her. With her it was like she acted all nice and kind and everything, but being stuck inside her head, listening to her constant narration of everything you realized pretty quickly, she wasn't really and that in fact she was the mean one. This inner monologue/narration was also very annoying. Every thought or statement she made had several addons, qualifiers, etc. Like "The sky is blue. Not really, I mean, it's more like..." and then goes on expanding on that for at least two paragraphs.
Constantly mixing up past and present tense didn't help either.

I guess what it boils down to in the end was that it took the OTT just that little bit too far.
When I first started reading this book I liked it so much I went and added a bunch of her other books to my tbr list. Now?... I'm not so sure anymore.

I picked this up for 99p a month or so ago after enjoying a run of office based romances.

This starts with Sutton writing her feelings into a document on her computer where she's been ranting about her boss, Phillipe, and his demanding ways for a while, only for a colleague to come tell her that he was acting strange in his office. Sutton runs to his aid, knowing it's a panic attack, and calms him down before he demands she change an error in a document she sent him and then send it back. In error she sends the journal with her rants about him. In response Phillipe asks her to be his date for his sisters upcoming wedding in an effort to stop his mums meddling.

I think this was pretty predictable but still an enjoyable read. It was quite short at just over 200 pages long but I must confess my interest kept waning to other things. It was very heavy on the telling how the characters felt but we didn't really see much showing - unless they were in bed together. I don't know. It just seemed to be lacking something.

I wasn't a big fan of the ending, either. I liked Phillipe finally growing a pair and pouring his heart out but the way it cut off and we were suddenly in the Epilogue? Hmm. I felt like I missed out on quite a lot even though the author gave us a condensed version. At the same time the kids were cute and to see the interaction between parent and child had me smiling.

I'm not sure if I'll continue the series.

Sutton is a 27 year old executive assistant to an evil rich boss Philippe. Thanks to the advise of her granny (who is hilarious and speaks her mind freely) she starts keeping a diary to deal with the ridiculous requests of her evil boss. Some of us forget to attach documents to emails, Sutton accidentally attached the wrong document to an email, unfortunately it was the diary and she sent it to the boss. This leads to Sutton being blackmailed into playing the part of the loving girlfriend and attending Phillipe's sisters wedding to appease his mother. She is uses the opportunity to barter for better wages and medical for granny. She is a phenomenal EA who knows her boss thru and thru, isn't afraid to stand up to him, and on occasion sees a gentler vulnerable side to him, in particular when she is talking him through his panic attacks. Now comes the big question, can he think beyond himself to become a better man and realize what a gem Sutton is? That there is more to life then working and living up to what you believe people expect of you? This was a fun read - but buyer beware - honestly there was just enough story to hold the sex scenes together. Some of my favorite parts of the book were thanks to her feisty granny!

Grumpy have me a smile

I really enjoyed this story about an administrative assistant who has to pretend to be a fake girlfriend for her grumpy boss, who she secretly writes nasty things about.

Although she can't stand him, she is quick to rush to him when he has a panic attacks and is surprisingly caring towards him.

I really enjoyed this book, it had sex scenes, but, more importantly it had a good strong story behind those scenes, so the sex did not take over, but blended well with the story. It also has humour which is always welcome in a book.

Lindsey Hart has written her characters well with plenty of layers to both the main characters and a fiery granny too. I loved the fact that we got to see the intricacies of the main characters relationship and their differing parts of their personality coming out at different times.

This was a well thought out and well written story, and while I might not be a huge fan of them ending, I understand why she wrote it this way, and it was probably the right thing to do, just not something I'm used to I guess, so the fault lies with me.

Overall, if you like a humorous book, with deep and interesting characters and don't any away from a bit of sex being thrown in, then this is probably the book for you.
Thank you Lindsey

Philippe Wilson is a man, and boss, who has a fiery temper on display as he storms through the office yelling out orders at his long-suffering PA. Sutton Sethford had been his father's personal assistant, as well, and he was such a kind, easy going boss. What happened to his son? When Sutton vents angrily about her boss one too many times, her grandma suggests that she keep a journal of her anger where she can add to it whenever she needs. That would be all well and good, if she didn't put it out on the computer and mix it up with a file she sends to her boss! Philippe is amused and finds a way to make Sutton think he needs her to rectify "her mistake." He offers her a hefty raise and to forget about what she wrote if she will accompany him to his sister's wedding. His quick wit is matched only by the kindness he begins to show. Sutton is aware of the pull between the two and, instead of her boss, she now sees the man with a body of a god. They go from boss and employee, to friends, to two people involved in a passionately heated relationship. The banter is clever and sweet as Sutton discovers his good heart and Philippe comes to realize that she is much more than his employee. She holds her own when standing up to him and it is quite refreshing. The topic of panic attacks was handled in a unique and helpful way and doesn't overstate it, Well done!

Sutton,27, an assistant to Philippe, keeps an online diary where she often complains about her boss but one day she accidentally sent him the online file with her diary. Philippe uses the file to blackmail her to be his pretend girlfriend to get his mom off his case. Sutton negotiates a raise and bonus to help with her grandmother’s insurance and agrees to help Philippe. Sutton is often snarky and sarcastic and lives with her Granny to help her out. Philippe sometimes has panic attacks about running the company his dad left him after he died in an accident 3 years ago and Sutton is able to soothe Philippe through these attacks. Will their pretend relationship become more than just pretend? Will Sutton and Philippe find a HEA?

I loved the characters in this fun story. The author let us know a lot about all of the characters and why they acted as they did. I loved Sutton’s personality, she wasn’t afraid to say what she thought and Philippe’s anxiety about letting down his father made him vulnerable. My favorite character had to be the hilarious Granny who had me laughing throughout the book. The epilogue was a fun ending to their story.
