message 2: by Erin (new)

Erin I love YA dystopia books. They are my favorite kind. I think people should right more of them. Unwind and The Hunger Games trilogy are definitely my favorites.

message 3: by Julie (new)

Julie S. I quite enjoy this list. :)

message 4: by Janaleefish (new)

Janaleefish "The Alliance" by Gerald N. Lund is an aswome dystopian novel without a whole lot of graphic violence and language. Perfect for teens and pre-teens, harder to find, but worth it!

message 5: by Rosa (new)

Rosa Wonderful list. :)

It wasnt as good as the other 2, but she always said it was going to be a book about the effects of war and loss, and I do understand why she did what she did with the book. It wasnt just about Katniss/peter/gale....

message 12: by Madeline (new)

Madeline Love this list as well. Glad I finnaly know what my favorite genre is! Absolutely love all of the Hunger Games trilogy, the Uglies series, The Last Book in the Universe, and The Giver trilogy (The Giver, Gathering Blue, and The Messenger).

message 16: by Beth (new)

Beth Question: So I have been hearing a lot of buzz about Blood Red Road and about how its such a great book. But people have been mentioning the weird writing style. So what is the writing of that book that is so peculiar to everyone? Blood Red Road (Dustlands, #1) by Moira Young

message 17: by Val (last edited Dec 24, 2011 12:22AM) (new)

Val GONE,HUNGER,LIES and PLAGUE and The Declaration, The Resistence and Hunger Games, Cathching Fire, and Mocking Bird are the spark to the fire of YA dystopan novels . With controversy , action and much more ...

Maija Beth wrote: "Question: So I have been hearing a lot of buzz about Blood Red Road and about how its such a great book. But people have been mentioning the weird writing style. So what is the writing of that book..."
It`s written as the lead character doesn`t really know english or she`s lived in forest all her life.
I didn`t read it, but I tried to. The writing style was too disturbing for me to read it.

message 19: by Taylor (new)

Taylor All the books I'm interested in!

message 20: by Allie (new)

Allie I really love all these books. The only books I haven't voted for are the ones I want to read.

It absolutely is! That cliffhanger ending in the first isn't really so blurred after all. The other two are not quite as amazing as the first, but still great!

message 22: by Kathy (new)

Kathy Dystopian novels are probably my favourite genre of books! Most of the books on this list I've read and LOVED. Forest of Hands and Teeth, Hunger Games and Divergent etc... All favourites!

message 24: by ♥ Marlene♥ (last edited Mar 11, 2012 10:07AM) (new)

♥ Marlene♥ I have just started with the YA dystopian books. Okay I did read The Hunger Games series years ago but lately I've read a lot more:
Uglies series. Okay
The Giver Very good
Declaration very good
Birthmarked very good
Jenna Fox okay
Chaos Walking book 1 and 2 are great.
Delirium. Very good
Matched. did not like book 2

Now I am going to give Unwind a try. This list does help.
I tried Branded and Incarceron but not really getting in to them. Maybe I should give them another try? I guess I prefer the books that have a world a bit singular as us with different rules. (Like love is not allowed or lets say children are not wanted) ;)

message 25: by Enza (new)

Enza I loved divergent! I can not wait until insurgent comes out.

message 26: by ♥ Marlene♥ (last edited Mar 19, 2012 04:45AM) (new)

♥ Marlene♥ Just an update. Thanks for recommending me Unwind. Loved it. it is my number 1 book now.

message 27: by Hernani (new)

Hernani satisfaction guaranteed..

message 28: by Enza (new)

Enza Does anyone have any other good YA Dystopia books they recommend?

message 29: by Rayana (new)

Rayana I seriously wanna marry this list right now! Dystopia Society books are the best!

♥ Marlene♥ True and some are not for teens. (The Host for one, which I loved) Oh well I still like that I can get recommendations.

message 31: by Riim (new)

Riim BLOOD RED ROAD IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

message 32: by Kezia (new)

Kezia Maybe we're not new anymore to dystopian world but Divergent is incredible.
I'm gonna read Hunger Games trilogy next.
Hope it's good

message 33: by Bri (new)

Bri kezia wrote: Maybe we're not new anymore to dystopian world but Divergent is incredible.

i totally agree, divergent was the bets book I've ever read. and the hunger games is amazing too

message 34: by Kit (new)

Kit Honestly I think the only reason the Hunger Games books are fist is because it's advertised a lot and people read them because of it. I've seen plenty of other books in the list that deserve a higher and better rating. Not that I'm not a Hunger Games fan because I am except for MockingJay I really disliked that book.

message 35: by Kezia (new)

Kezia CrushingonGuysFromBooks wrote: "Honestly I think the only reason the Hunger Games books are fist is because it's advertised a lot and people read them because of it. I've seen plenty of other books in the list that deserve a high..."

Yeah... Mockingjay was kinda disappointing

message 36: by Toni (last edited Aug 04, 2012 02:56AM) (new)

Toni Whittaker you all want to read the uglies series it is amazing cant put it down! read all the hunger games love them !!!!

message 37: by Toni (new)

Toni Whittaker just read matched and crossed loved them too reading comments on a lot of the boos ive read i think i might be easily pleased hahahaha

message 38: by Tammie (new)

Tammie It would be nice if some people knew what dystopian meant. There are several books on this list that are not dystopian, but rather sci-fi, fantasy, urban fantasy, paranormal.

message 39: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Richards Wow! I think I just added every single one of those to my TBR list... :)Great list!

message 40: by Clare (new)

Clare shrestha my goal is to finish all the books on this list so far the ones I have finished have been amazing love the twist on a future realitys with fantasy and romance thrown in for good measure again AWESOME!!

message 41: by Maryrosepadilla (new)

Maryrosepadilla good list!!!!...i hope to read most of it before this year ends!

message 42: by jam (new)

jam Yay! i love dystopina books so much :)

message 43: by Hannah (new)

Hannah Great List! But I'm pretty sure that Kristen Cashore books are not dystopian

message 44: by Jillie (new)

Jillie Gretzinger There's some pretty good books on there.

message 45: by Marnie (new)

Marnie Pineapples WHY ISNT THE ASK AND THE ANSWER #1!!!!!!

message 46: by Sarah (new)

Sarah I have read a large majority of these books. I guess that says something about me....; )

message 47: by Dijay (new)

Dijay I came here looking for a specific book (I only remembered a word from the title and the cover, so most searches aren't helpful) and didn't find it, but I agree or disagree heartily with a lot of these. Brave New World is only partially a dystopia, and is definitely not YA.

message 48: by Fernada (new)

Fernada great list hope to see more

message 49: by Clare (new)

Clare shrestha So far I have read 46 books from this list and counting. Dystopia books are the best kind of books :)

message 50: by Alexa (new)

Alexa The Unwind Trilogy is definitely my favorite dystopian series.
