I haven’t even read the last book in this trilogy but I’m already convinced that this is my favorite. Her Naughty Holiday is just as fun and sexy as Her Halloween Treat, but there’s some seriousness to it as well. I adore Clover, Erick and Ruthie. I could happily read a whole series about them as their lives go on. I can’t recommend this installment enough! This is the second book in a holiday trilogy: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas – and can be read alone. Previous characters are mentioned but I promise you won’t miss out on anything. Still, I’d definitely read them all just to get in on the fun.
I loved this for a few reasons. 1) Clover reminds me of the old ME, a little. I used to be quiet and very passive – not wanting to make a fuss out of anything but keeping to myself how much my feelings are hurt. Now, I’m just quiet. That passive shit is for the birds. Luckily, I don’t go to my family gatherings anymore and when I do see them it’s hi & bye. Clover’s family are just plain old snobs. The way they talked to her, but tried to sugarcoat it all up, just pissed me off. I’m glad that Erick came along when he did. Which brings me to my next point. 2) Erick has got to be the greatest father ever. It doesn’t hurt that he’s hot, but his bond with his 17 yr-old daughter, Ruthie, is adorable. They bicker like siblings, but he is first and foremost her parent. I love that whole hot-single-dad-contractor thing he has going on. 3) Ruthie is my type of girl. She is all ecofeminism and hooking her boss (Clover) up with her dad. Clover needs someone to play boyfriend for Thanksgiving. I’m so glad that she decided against Sven, the male escort.
Clover and Erick hit it off immediately. It felt right since they’ve been checking each other out for a whole year, but doing nothing about it. Clover has been through so much and she turned out to be a happy person. Well, when her judgmental family aren’t around. This girl runs her own business and could possibly be a millionaire if she sells it. What happens at Thanksgiving? Does Clover sell her business? You have to read to find out. This installment is even better than the first one, so I am eager to read One Hot December.
If you want some fun reads this fall, I highly recommend this trilogy. They are quick, fun sexy and filled with holiday debauchery. You will enjoy every second!...more

Her Halloween Treat is a fun, hot read from start to finish. The characters and the setting was a perfect fit for this tale, and it makes me wish for Fall to fall in. I think if you love cute romances with a brother’s-best-friend trope , then this book will make a great addition to your shelf.
Joey has just found out that her boyfriend of 2 yrs. is married. She’s heading home to Oregon for her brother’s wedding with a broken heart. Her best friend, Kira, suggests that getting over a guy is to get under another one. Well, Chris is ready to be the rebound guy. Problem is, Chris is supposed to be wining and dining Joey into joining Lost Lake Village Rentals. Getting Joey between the sheets was not part of the plan, but what is a man to do when he has been in love with this girl for years? They hit it off immediately, and soon the fireworks are popping.
I love this little romance. It’s funny, sexy, and I love the friendships between the characters. I also love the sibling bond that Joey and Dillon share. Just the way Joey and Chris reminisced about their high school days, and what Dillon went through when he came out, tore at my heart strings. I love even more that Chris is confident in his manhood and has a gay best friend. They bickered and it made the story so much more than just a romance between him and Joey. Joey gave as good as she got when it came to the three of them together again. It was just what she needed after having been lied to for two yrs, by a guy she was in love with. All the signs were there, but she was too blinded by love to see it.
Overall, I definitely recommend Her Halloween Treat. There are lots of steamy moments between Joey and Chris, but there is lots of fun and friendships as well....more
If you don’t want to read The Replacement Crush for booknerd Vivian, read it for Dallas. I really love him! I mean, here’s a cute, nerdy guy that stops at nothing to get the girl. He’s not arrogant, he’s just THAT GUY. The good guys always come in last. *sighs* This was a really cute book, but I had some issues with our girl. Viv is brokenhearted over playboy, Jake. I get it, she’s young so she is destined to make dumb decisions. Her great plan is to go for the guys who really don’t do it for her. I get changing up the game, but this was a stupid idea to begin with. Dallas made me keep reading, and the fact that Viv is a book blogger kept me reading as well. I also think the story is too long, but that could just be me. That whole attempted rape scene just came out of nowhere.
I think that Dallas deserved more than what he got. The chemistry between him and Viv was there from the start, and I don’t like that douche bag Jake stole the show. Viv was a little over the top in her attempts to find a guy NOT TO HER LIKING, and she missed out on what could have been some explosive scenes with Dallas. In the beginning I really liked her character. Everything was all about books and romance and it was just so cute that by the time the drama started, I was in too deep to stop. I like how it ended on the romance between Viv and Dallas, but more of that around the middle would have been great.
Overall, a cute-but-dramatic read. I recommend this to readers who like cute nerdy guys and girls who discuss books. Viv isn’t all bad, but some of her antics made me want to scream....more

This wasn't as great for me as the previous books, but it's still good. I hate Jimmy, Lieutenant Montgomery's brother. Their sister is a mess, which is totally understandable given how she's been mentally abused by Jimmy her whole life. Lots of little altercations throughout, but the last 20% is really intense. I almost started crying because I was so worried about what would/could happen. The Elders got a reality check; not only from observing a pesky human, but when the shit hit the fan, Henry Beargard stated his mind. #SimonAndMegForever Full RTC closer to release date!...more

Imagine being able to know a serial killer’s every move. That is what Nina Barrows is dealing with in this YA thriller. There is no shortage of twists and turns in this very creepy story. And while I liked this one, I have a hard time saying that I love it. And that may be just me, since I am really not a big reader of thrillers, unless the characters suck me in. The little things that didn’t work for me, shouldn’t be a problem for thrill seekers everywhere, because this book will truly make your flesh crawl. However, I wanted more depth with the characters, and less gore....more

My Mini Thoughts
You all know that I love all things mental health. And a few of you know that I suffer from depression myself, so I will always seek out books that are centered around that more than others. Detached is really well developed, in terms of the protagonist's illness and the subsequent effects of her state of mind. The author did an amazing job detailing Anna’s thoughts and actions, and you are really inside her head the whole time. Reading the description helps you a little with her character development, but not enough to really know EVERYTHING about her. I wanted to know more about her relationships than the little sketches that Anna gave us. For such an important topic, this lacked a lot of precedent circumstances that needed to make you really get the beginning of Anna’s plummet. Still, I really like the extent the author went to show just how badly depression is and that it needs to be seen more clearly. It’s real and scary for all involved, not just the person it is happening to. I enjoyed reading this book, I just wish that it had more to show. Still, definitely recommend for readers of YA fiction, focused on mental health....more
