I went into this not knowing what to expect because it only landed in my inbox one day. Once I saw the audiobook cover I knew I should have expected some sort of twisted dark romance. And, yo, bonkers it indeed was.
Rain has just turned 21 but she finds herself being kidnapped at the dead of night by a cult (that worships the devil). A cult that intends to make her the next heir because its run by her long lost father. Though shes been promised to who finds out is her step-brother, things take a turn when her father decided to make her his wife instead. Let me tell you, I gagged so hard.
The plot of the book was pretty good. It kept me entertained all though out. I did wish Rain had more personality apart from suddenly throwing herself into being Elijah's girl and matching his freak lol. After all this, they sure need therapy. I need therapy.

You guys, you don't want to miss this release!! Alwaah has outdone herself again. Helia and Ambrose had me on a chokehold. Their banter had me cracking up. The slowburn is good, too! Helia is such an a-hole, and Ambrose is a brat. But, God, you'll fall in love with them.
Ambrose has been undermined by Helia. He's taken over Glamorous, her father's company. Her right as the eldest daughter. Helia does fire her and tells her she'd be back begging for a job. And she kinda does. He hires her as his secretary, and she makes it her mission to figure out how to get her company back. Despite their hate foreach other and him threatening to fire her every 5 minutes, Ambrose pushes back because she's still the (minority) owner of Glamorous.
Ambrose has a scarred past and is trying to make up for her past mistakes. We also see her trying to build up her relationship with her sister, Aurora.

This series is starting to get good!! We saw Henri being the good guy in book one. He wanted to be accepted by his brother, Q. He wanted to do good for Ilyana because he was the reason why she was taken as a slave. Now, in book 2, we see him get corrupted by the actions he was to perform with Ily to be accepted into this macabre society. I love a good corruption arc and Pepper is delivering it!
On the opposite side, we see Ilyana struggling to keep up with all the secrets that get unfolded in this book. She must take in the man she thought she knew versus the man he is becoming on this island of wickedness. Despite all the bad things Henri does, she still manages to, somehow, look for the good in him. But we also see her struggle with the fact that she likes receiving what Henri gives her.
Henri and Ilyana have discovered that they fit. Henri has realized that he is a sadist and would like nothing more than for Ilyana to remain by his side forever. And well, Ilyana is still not 100% on accepting that she is a masochist. She does know that if things had gone differently, she would have explored a relationship with Henri. Maybe then they would have had a happily ever after. But here, not on this island that only causes pain to the ones stuck there.

My sister had read Lethal and recommended it to me but I never got around to it because of all the ARCs I read. I, um, may have started Lethal too and procrastinated an ARC (which I did finish before its release day!). I brought my A-game to catch up on that ARC and now I have to read another one but I'll make sure to finish Lethal soon. I loved Corvin King's narration of Reign. He brought his A-game too!
Courtney and Marshall "Ammo" are forced to work together when Courtney's life as a rockstar becomes complete chaos. She found her supposed best friend and boyfriend in bed in her own house! The audacity of these people is real. I wanted to throttle Roxy and Johnny myself. As it turns out, they've been at it for months and expecting a baby. Courtney isn't going to let this situation stop her from continuing to build her career so she decides to break away from the band as lead singer. After all, she's young (23) and has her whole life ahead of her. Of course, this infuriates Roxy and Johnny because Courtney is "breaking up" the band to go solo. That's where Ammo comes in.
At 37 years old, Ammo has built up his career as a rockstar and producer. He lives and breaths the life of a rockstar. When he gets asked to help Courtney, he's not too happy about it but knows he can ultimately help her. That doesn't stop him from being arrogant, cocky, a jerk, and meeting Courtney the same way she found her "bestie" and "boyfriend" that fateful night. This is part of the reason why Courtney hates his guts. Courtney finds ways to push his buttons. And him... well, things can be business only for so long.

Thalia is sold to Drystan, Weylen, and Asher as a means to pay her brother's debt. Before any of this, Thalia wasn't aware that the supernatural existed; now, she's toy the three powerful vampires whose intentions are to sacrifice her. Being an outcast all her life being sold and treated like cattle wasn't on Thalia's bucket list, nor was it being attracted to her three jailors. Not only does she learn about the supernatural and how they came to be vampires, Thalia learns that she comes from a line of witches. Drystan, Weylen, and Asher need her to finally hone her powers for the ultimate sacrifice. Although they call her "little lamb" she's a strong woman with emotions so big she's begun to love them, despite everything.

Are you sitting? Because I am.
My Heartless Soul is the last book of The Demons of New York series. It can be read as a standalone (I did lol). I'll come back to read the previous books when I can. Thank you Daisy for letting me review your book!
Kira Clark is a famous chef in New York. She owns multiple restaurants. Her employees have dubbed her as Ursula or a witch because of her "I-Hate-Everyone" attitude. But she has childhood trauma that has left her needing to protect herself. As you learn more about her past, you cannot help but feel deeply for her. She truly deserved better. Kira faults herself for everything that happened.
At the polar opposite side of her is Vassar Levidis: her sous chef in New York, sculpted by the Greek Gods (lol), and single father. Although he is the "sunshine" to Kira's "grump," he has his own issues. He had to learn to raise his daughter on his own after his wife walked out on them and he supports his sister's college studies. Despite all that darkness, he will make you blush.
As I read, I saw a lot of growth between these characters, especially when they revealed their traumas to each other. Kira and Vassar helped each other heal, and in turn, helped his daughter Victoria heal from her traumas with her biological mother. It helped a lot that Kira and Victoria clicked pretty fast and having that connection to speak freely when alone.

About fifty percent of this [image] I... had difficulty getting into this book initially because I'm not big with love triangles or MFM/FMF scenarios. About fifty percent of this novella was MFM, taking place during one night. Ella has gone to a sexually deviant circus where Hunter is the owner. He is drawn to her by her allure - to which he nicknames her "little witch."
When Hunter propositions her for a night filled with their wildest kinky dreams, she hesitantly agrees. But, things turn when Nicholas - her roommate and crush - calls out for her (because he's there too). Hunter convinces them both to enjoy the night together. All three of them. While Hunter is dominant and perfectly fine with sharing Ella with Nick as long as he gets her first, Nick is a possessive dominant. His jealousy seeps through his pores.
Eventually, I did open up to them three being together. The endgame is MF between Nick and Ella. I am hoping to see more of Hunter, though, in his own love story (if it ever happens). Nick was able to open up his dominant side and Ella embraced her submissive side. I honestly, loved it in the end and would totally go back to read it.

He's also quite the stalker (but just for Darlene). He has taken to watch over her after the passing of her parents from afar. And you like your masked men... Vaughn is your guy.
Obsession has masked men, age gap, dad's best friend, hitman, stalker, serial unaliver, possessive and obsessive, slasher vibes, daddy kink. It's got all the goods that you want in a horror romance. It is spicy and has got multiple spicy schminx. Did I mention spicy time next to unalived bodies?? No? Well, there's that too. This book is truly for the dark girlies.
