Yet another p After having finished The Ex and fallen head over heels in love with Alafair Burke, THE WIFE was an obvious choice for my next read.
Yet another page turner from an author who I became an insta-fan of in under 5 mins! I am not sure what I love more about her books - the fact that they make me eat up pages at record speed because the story is so good and writing is very smooth and super engaging or the fact that they make me learn something because of author's own legal background.
THE WIFE was simply UNPUTDOWNABLE! I found myself reading through the night because I HAD to find out whodunit. This book is yet another example why I LOVE to read. These are the kinds of stories that make me not regret a single penny or minute spent on them.
If I had to choose right now which I book I loved more, I don't think I could do it. Both (THE EX and THE WIFE) were absolutely fantastic in their own right.
As I read this title, I kept thinking how much I would love to see it on a big screen and, upon further sleuthing on author's site, was THRILLED to discover that this book is, in fact, being made into a movie by Amazon studios!!! *flails uncontrollably*
THE WIFE is psychological suspense at it's finest! An absolutely MUST READ if this is a genre you enjoy.

I remember buying it because I thought the cover was gorgeous. I didn't even read the blurb. I just assumed it will be a decent second chance romance or something along those lines and, if nothing else, I'll own a pretty looking book.
Boy, was I wrong! And am I ever pissed at myself for not reading this sooner!!
I devoured THE EX in pretty much one sitting. This almost NEVER happens. I am talking "couldn't wait to ditch the New Years Eve party I was at so I could get back home and read some more"!
This riveting, exquisitely written legal thriller grabs you on page one and doesn't let go till the very end. I couldn't get enough of the strong characters and the story line that was full of twists and had me guessing till the very last few pages. Not to mention all the legal jargon that was on point courtesy of author herself being a law professor and ex-Deputy District Attorney, among other things.
I usually have the hardest time finding heroines that leave a lasting impression. This wasn't the case with Olivia Randall. I'd love to read about her more and was over the moon to discover that she has appeared in a couple of more titles of Ms. Burke's that I am off to read ASAP!
There was so much more I wanted to say in my review but, as usual, I can't find all the right words to express everything I feel. And besides, even if I could find the words, I could never put them in coherent enough sentences to do this book justice anyways so I won't even try.
In a nutshell: if you ever picked up a book based on one of my recs in the past and enjoyed it, trust me on this one, OK?
P.S. The ending of this book had me grinning like a loon. You'll get why if/when you read the book.

Not It’s official: I am OBSESSED with Lisa Gardner’s work. She writes movies, for crying out loud!! I mean, her stories literally jump off the pages. Not to mention THE WAY SHE WRITES ... good God! Her characters are perfection. Flawed. Real. Just the kind of characters I love to read about. And the way she keeps you guessing!! You don’t know whodunnit till the last few pages ... these kinds of books, to me, are worth every penny.
P.S. As one of THE pickiest people when it comes to leading ladies, I am THRILLED to discover an author who gave me two kickass females leads to add to my very short list of ultimate favourite heroines: D.D. Warren and Tessa Leoni. I can’t get enough of these ladies and want to read every available book featuring them. IMMEDIATELY!!...more

From the writing to the story, from the characters to all the feels ... I don't think I'll ever get over the book hangover that followed once I finished this book and is still very much present, weeks later. I can't recommend TRANSCENDENCE enough. Even if fantasy isn't your thing, all you have to do is sample this on Amazon to realize how special this author and her writing is.

I can't thank my friend Joanne enough for recommending it. If you enjoy exquisitely written, original material then give this a go. Even if fantasy isn't your thing, read it! This is truly one of those reading experiences that is not to be missed!

I think Annabel Joseph is an author who gets better and better with each and every one of her new releases. DEEP CONTROL is now my favorite book of hers to date. I devoured this story that delivered on every single point in my checklist: superb writing, character(s) depth, amazing supporting cast, raw sexuality which was only magnified tenfold by all the feels the author delivers. Always! I am a sucker for great dialogue and this book simply blew me away. The exchange between characters (any of them!) was fantastic. I can't think of one single thing about DEEP CONTROL that I didn't love.
I am now not-so-patiently waiting for Milo's story ...

I can honestly say this book is one of THE best books I've ever read. Without a doubt. From exquisitely written original story, heroine your heart aches for and everything in between, this book OWNED me. I read it literally everywhere I went in the last 48 hours. I simply couldn't stop. I even rescheduled a couple of appointments and cancelled a lunch date so I can finish and I regret nothing.
Emotional. Original. Superbly written. Unforgettable. This kind of story/writing is why I LOVE to read. If you ever picked up a book based on one of my recommendations and enjoyed it, trust me on this. Absolutely, positively, 100% worth the hefty price tag because this is the kind of book you'll most likely reread more than once.

Because it tells a story so compelling, so thought provoking, so emotional and so exquisitely written that you are left reeling. For DAYS after you've finished. 'The Idea of You' by Robinne Lee is one of those books.
To say I was blown away by EVERYTHING about this story would be an understatement. It checked off every single box I need for a book to be an exceptional read. Angst. Humor. Amazing dialogue. Unique subject matter. Pop culture. Love story. Depth. Amazing leads and phenomenal supporting cast. But most of all, it brought on the feels. So many feels. I don't think I've even been this anxious reading a book ... ever. And I say this in the most flattering way possible. The story kept me on the edge of my seat till the very last page. A roller-coaster of emotions only added to an already amazing reading experience.
This is one of those stories that offers so much food for thought that one can't simply review it and move on. Or maybe it's just me. I finished this days ago and I am still thinking about. Thinking about how, in this day and age, the doubles standards are alive and well. Thinking about how people will always have an opinion and how everyone is always so quick to judge you without having walked a mile in your shoes. Thinking about how much we, mothers, sacrifice for our kids.
I think it's safe to say I won't be getting over this read any time soon. It's just one of those stories that makes it's way into your heart and stays there. Permanently. Whether you like it or not. I urge everyone, especially everyone in their late 30s and on, to read this book with an open mind. If nothing else, you'll enjoy the scenery.
And in conclusion I want to say that, even though it's only July, 'The Idea of You' is my pick for BOOK OF THE YEAR 2017. That's all.

Set in New York, the easiest way to describe this book is 'CSI meets Criminal Minds circa 1896'. Absolutely INCREDIBLE in every way possible. The writing, the story, the narration ... PERFECTION, from start to finish! An absolute must read for lovers of psychological thrillers and historical fiction.

I am not sure how this book came to be ... I am just glad that it did! What an original concept (to me, anyhow)! As a HUGE fan of Cara McKenna's work, I am thrilled to be introduced to Charlotte Stein via this collaborative effort.
I knew going into this book that it will end up being something special. Raw, real, unique, character driver and exquisitely written. This story had it all. In fact, I loved it so much that it is going onto my 'best of 2017' self and we aren't even half way through the year.
I will try and add to this review closer to the release date but there's literally NOTHING I can ever say that will do this book justice it deserves. If you appreciate original, well written stories, I urge you to give this one a go once it becomes available.

If originality is what you crave in your books, give this a shot. And if/when you do, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

I am very easy to please when it comes to books. All I ask for is a well written, original story. YOU [and it's sequel, Hidden Bodies] delivered both and then some ...
I started buddy-reading this awesomeness with two of my book friends. Then, several of my other book friends said the audio for this was 'one of the best they've ever listened to' so, off the three of us went to also buy an audible version of this series so we ended up reading along TO an audio version and IT. WAS. AWESOME!
First of all, Joe Goldberg is THE ultimate anti-hero. I mean, you find yourself questioning your sanity because you can't help but root for as you fall in love with him!
Second, Caroline Kepnes did such an amazing job telling this original story in such unique way that you feel creeped out yet fascinated by it all.
And last (but not least!), Santino Fontana does such an EXQUISITE job bringing Joe to life that this whole experience was absolutely one of THE best I ever had while reading/listening to a book. I've yet to listen to a better audiobook and I doubt I ever will! Absolutely brilliant writing, narration, EVERYTHING ... NOT to be missed for lovers of thrillers and those who value originality in their books.
I am not sure if it's normal to laugh as you read a [psychological] thriller but you do! At all the pop-culture references, all the mocking Santino does as Joe ... I mean, the whole thing is absolutely BRILLIANT! I can not believe it took me this long to get on the Joe-wagon but I am NEVER getting off! Not to mention, Caroline is now on my list of 'auto-buy-whatever-it-is' authors.
READ. THIS. SERIES! READ IT NOW!!! It is pricey but, IMO, worth every penny. So borrow it from your local library or check out your local Goodwill ... whatever ... just get your hands on this brilliance somehow! You won't be disappointed.

I don't even know how to review this book but if I had to describe it in one word, that word would be: PERFECTION! Because PERFECT is what this book is, from stat to finish. From the way it's written, to it's fresh and original content, the way the author blends funny with emotional parts that are bound to make you tear up, from picturesque setting to an absolutely HYSTERICAL dialogue/banter between a cast so colorful that I actually squealed with delight when I found out author's plans for many more books in the series because I can read about this entertaining bunch forever!
I can't recommend this book enough. And to pretty much EVERYONE. I can't name ONE person that I know who WOULDN'T enjoy this story.
Callie and Walker stole my heart from the minute I met them. They aren't exactly 'opposites attract' kind of deal but they definitely compliment each other in the best of ways. As I said above, the supporting cast is just as great as the main couple and the story itself. They enhance said story just as much as everything our main duo encounters on the scenic route to their destination.
READ. THIS. BOOK! I promise you won't be disappointed. And, if for any reason you end up disliking it, your next read is on me! So you really have nothing to lose but a fantastic new reading experience to gain!
Nicole Archer is a 'new-to-me' author who now has a new fan for life! I am kicking myself for waiting so long to read this book but I am glad I finally did because 'better late than never', right?

P.S. This book would make a PERFECT TV show. Seriously.

This story (or storie I honestly don't know how to review this glorious tale. I am simply lost for words. I have NEVER read anything like this before. This story (or stories, I should say) is something out of this world. Literally. You don't just read this book, you experience it.
To get a better idea of what this book is or isn't, I'd like to take a paragraph from one of Goodread's reviewers who sums it up perfectly:
Much like any Neil Gaiman story, the devil is in the details, and you just have to resolve yourself to coming along for the ride or you'll miss it. It's not one story, or two, it's many, and it's all complete...and you have to just read it, and enjoy it, and accept it. Or just don't bother.
I would suggest having a sidekick as you read this because you will want to bounce theories off someone. I know I did. Thank you, Lynn, for being mine.
P.S. I can NOT wait for 'American Gods' the TV show because, just like this story, the cast is absolutely PERFECT! Watch the trailer here: AMERICAN GODS trailer...more

Cried, because after having waited for this final installment for an entire year [almost to the day!], it met and exceeded every single expectation I had for it!
Cried, because I was blown away, once again, by J.R. Ward's ability to tell a story in a way so few authors can: poetic and full of soul.
Cried, because I was overwhelmed by the amount of emotion the story sprung on me. As a reader, I can't help but always look for HEA type ending. In this case, we got multiples.
Cried, because this series coming to an end truly feels like the end of an era. They don't write sagas like this any more. So smart without being pretentious. So sexy without being vulgar. So decadent. So full of pride of the place you hail from.
Cried, because I know that I'll never be able to express properly everything I feel for this series.
This book was my most anticipated read of 2017 and it delivered in spades, as I knew it would. When it comes to J.R. Ward, quality is never in question. Even though the ending was bittersweet (because it was the ending, you see), it was glorious! I am looking forward to many, many rereads of the series that captured my heart.

I have NEVER ONCE felt intimidated to review a book. Till now. I simply don't know if my broken English will do this mind-blowing series justice it deserves. But I am going to give it a try ...
As I said half way though my reading progress, I haven't read something this EPIC since 'The Bourbon Kings', the first installment of this brilliant series, back in July. The two weeks I waited for 'The Angels' Share' to go live were the longest two weeks ... possibly EVER. I didn't have much luck with sequels this year but J.R. Ward proved to be the 'Master Storyteller' that she is and knocked this one out of the ballpark! As a matter of fact, I am taking a week hiatus and not starting anything yet because I simply need time to digest the EPIC-ness of what I just read and want to bask in the glorious writing! Plus, it simply won't be fair for any book to follow this one and NOT pale in comparison.
This book ... THIS SERIES!
I always found fascinating how some authors can weave such great story. But then there is a handful of authors that can not only weave but do it so masterfully that by the end of said story, you feel in awe, like you are in a daze. Because you were 100% invested. And everything around you ceased to exist. THIS is what happened to me while reading this series. I felt like I was THERE. Going through all the trials and tribulations together with one hell of an amazing cast!
I WISH I could put together even a few coherent sentences to describe everything this book and this series made me feel. Alas, I can't so instead, I'll use J.R. Ward's own quote to describe what this series felt like [to me]: "Six levels of spice, and each one is a taste of heaven ..." Truly!
I've yet to read something that was so sexy, without being vulgar. So intelligent, without sounding condescending. So intriguing. So decadent. This is a MUST READ for those who enjoy not only a great story but EXCEPTIONAL storytelling as well.
Now that I am finished, I want to:
1. learn how to play poker; 2. visit the South and try REAL soul food; 3. start drinking bourbon; 4. expand my vocabulary.
I am done. I am also sleep deprived, emotionally drained AND nursing ONE HELL OF A BOOK HANGOVER but I REGRET NOTHING!!
I don't have much to add to theI am done. I am also sleep deprived, emotionally drained AND nursing ONE HELL OF A BOOK HANGOVER but I REGRET NOTHING!!
I don't have much to add to the stuff I said in my 'half way thoughts' below but I'll say this:
This book ... THIS BOOK! It is so opulent! So full of lies, deceit and love connections that are so beautiful and heartbreaking at times. The plot kept me on the edge of my seat and the ending/preview of what's to come is making me want to get my hands on the sequel IMMEDIATELY!
The events in this book take place over the span of one weekend yet I feel like I've lived a thousand lives with these characters. The way J.R. Ward gives you their backstory is absolutely brilliant! I honestly feel like I just finished a series of novels that told a story of each one.
It's hard to pick what I loved the most about 'The Bourbon Kings' but the dynamic between the siblings, Lane's relationship with Miss Aurora & Samuel T. & Gin's twisted game of hearts are all up there, among some of my favorite moments.
I LOVED every minute of this family saga and can't wait to continue! I am also glad that I decided to read this NOW, with book 2 being only a few weeks away, vs back when this novel was first released because I wouldn't have been able to wait an entire year for Part II!
This is an absolute MUST READ for anyone who appreciates exceptional family drama with a twist! ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! From start to finish!
'Half way' thoughts:
I've only done this once before - pause half way to rate and write a review for book I am currently reading because it's so overwhelmingly good and I just can't keep all the feels inside me so here goes ...
I've fallen head over heels in love with a book. I am talking truly, madly, deeply IN LOVE! OK, maybe it's not the first time [and probably won't be the last] but some books manage to get under my skin and make me realize that I've stumble onto something truly special from pretty much page one and 'The Bourbon Kings' just happens to be one of those books. There are very few authors whose work consumes me to the point that everything around me seizes to exist. JR Ward is doing just that with this incredible story. I don't think I've yet to read a story that had so many layers! Not to mention ALL the complex and fascinating characters this book is filled with! It's like I manage to gasp at something at the end of almost every paragraph.
The writing is incredible and so vivid that when you don't feel as if you are actually THERE, with the characters, you feel like you are watching a brilliant TV drama unfold and, luckily, you don't have to wait till the next episode to find out what happens ... all you have to do is flip the page and go onto the next chapter!
Books such as this one is the reason why I love to read! Nothing beats losing yourself in a story that takes your breath away, makes you speechless, keeps you up till the wee hours of the morning and has you thinking about nothing BUT what's going to happen next all day! I am a sucker when it comes to family sagas and this book exceeded EVERY. SINGLE. EXPECTATION! and then some (and I am only 44% in!).
I think I feel a little better that I got all this off my chest so I am off to try and finish this amazing story! And, as much as I want to get to the end, I am not quite ready for this story to be over just yet. This is DEFINITELY going into my 'reread' pile because HOW CAN YOU NOT???
Joey W. Hill will forever remain my Ultimate Favorite because, to date, I have yet to read another author whose writing moves me as much as hers does. Joey W. Hill will forever remain my Ultimate Favorite because, to date, I have yet to read another author whose writing moves me as much as hers does. When reading Joey's work, I feel like I am given a piece of her heart and soul because it's clear she pours both into every single one of her stories. Her books are most reread and most highlighted books on my Kindle.
This latest installment of her Nature of Desire series didn't disappoint. Joey's ability to create characters that are so unique and 'perfectly imperfect' is simply amazing! From main characters to a very colorful supporting cast, you instantly fall in love with them all and hope [or at least I do!] that eventually they ALL get to have their own story. [Billie Dee-Lite's novella, anyone?? GAH!]
I honestly don't have much to say other than if you are fan of this series/author, you will absolutely fall in love with 'Worth the Wait'! Very raw and emotional (as it is the case with ALL of Joey's stories) this book tells a story of Julie (Marcus & Thomas' best friend) and Desmond, who we meet for the first time. Throw in a bunch of cameos by so many of Joey's wonderful characters plus an unexpected twist and you get another winner that is latest Nature of Desire novel.
*Can be enjoyed as standalone but you HAVE to meet Marcus & Thomas in Holding the Cards and then Rough Canvas (where we briefly meet Julie for the first time). Even if you don't read M/M, their story is very much worth reading.
**Some of the best heart to heart AND amusing banter [courtesy of Marcus Stanton] is one of my personal favorite moments in this book.
***Probably one of Joey's mildest [in terms of BDSM content] books but open mind is still very much A MUST for this one.

I was engrossed in this glorious novel for the last three days. The minute this pre-order hit my Kindle early Tuesday morning, I dove right in and didn't come up for air till I was done. Done with a story I NEVER wanted to end.

but this was exactly how I felt, from the moment I started till hours after I was done. This author literally rendered me speechless. And I can't thank her enough! These kinds of stories is WHY I love to read.
There are books, ladies and gents, and then there are BOOKS. 'An Exaltation of Larks' definitely falls into the latter category. Suanne's writing is exquisite. It's immaculate. It's so flawless, you forget you are reading!
If you appreciate unique stories that span decades, characters you can't help but fall head over heels in love with, storytelling that leaves you breathless and, of course, all the FEELS, drop everything and read this NOW! Don't read the blurb. Don't read reviews. Go into this book completely blind and fall in love with it on YOUR terms.
If you ever picked up a book based on my rec and enjoyed it, do yourself a favor and read this one. Not because I am telling you to but because you owe it to yourself to EXPERIENCE this story.
