I feel almost embarrassed to admit that I .........liked this book. I don't know if I've just given up on wishing this series would return to the way it used to be (as if anyone can remember that!), or if I've developed an affinity for soft core porn (which parts of this book totally are), or maybe my expectations for this series are so low as to be nonexistant, but I DID like it. I haven't hated the turn this series has taken as much as some others do, but I haven't been happy with many of the recent books either. That being said, this one drew me in and kept me there. I was finally able to respect and understand some of the men in Anita's life--namely Richard and Micah. Maybe I owe my "like" of this book to the redemption of Richard? Or to the way that Micah mans up in this one? Or the way Anita seems to accept that some of her multitude of men want to have sex with someone other than her including each other? Or the fact that Jason finally gets a girlfriend? Or that there really is a plot in this one--okay a thin plot, but a plot nonetheless? I truly can't explain it. I wouldn't actually recommend this book to anyone other than hard-core fans of the series or die-hards who, even though they don't necessarily love the recent books, love the world LKH created once upon a time. Maybe that's why I liked this one? I'm truly at a loss...
I'm about to talk myself out of liking the book I think, so I'll just stop here and leave off with...
1) My name is Kris and I am an LKH addict (apparently). 2) I have no power over my addiction (I guess). 3) Despite the fact that I keep saying that I am done with this series, I keep finding reasons to read these books and I admit that I love the world that LKH created and really did like this book inspite of its many, many flaws including but not limited to wayyyyyyyyyyy to much talking about feelings, m/m/m/m/f/m/f/m, f/f/m/, m/m,m/f/, m/m/m/m/m/f/m/m/m/f/v/v/v/v/m/m/m/m/v/f/m/m/v/m/f/f/m/m/f/v/v/ (okay this one was an orgy and I really don't know who did who)but there was LOTS of group sex (which if you look at my read list I obviously don't mind but GEEZ), dialogue between characters where everyone sounds like Anita...
