Since it's free I hesitate to be overly critical. Other than evening out characterization and pacing a bit, I would definitely cut down on ellipses. In the span of one page there are four instances:
"It was very...considerate" "Are you always so...spritely in the mornings?" "Oh...Um" "Sarah...She married"
Worth a read if you like historical romances and quick novellas. ...more

This is my first read from the author, and the writing is a total delight. As other reviewers have mentioned, the plot often strains the upper limit for credulity (but so do plenty of other historical romances, so I wasn't too bothered). Nothwell has certainly mastered the art of Hateable Historical Romance Villains, and this book is an excellent showcase for them, even though I really wanted to punch them in the face.
I deeply enjoyed the relationship as it evolved between Morgan and Evelyn, and I adored Morgan in particular as a character. The supporting characters were also surprisingly well fleshed out without making the plot feel hectic or like too many things were up in the air. I do wish that the book was longer just to tie things up a bit better at the end. Also, for the sake of other reviewers, I confess I am not really a history buff, so I cannot make any claims as to the accuracy of this book from a historical perspective (although there seem to be plenty of others who will). I am also a big fan of hurt/comfort, and this book is packed with it.
There are quite a few things that I think some readers may want to be cautioned about ahead of time: (view spoiler)[incest, sexual assault, abuse, doubt from one MMC regarding the sexual assault claims of another, graphic description of whaling, one MMC engaging in sexual activity with someone other than the other MMC (they are not dating at the time, but I know some readers are very sensitive to cheating) (hide spoiler)]...more
