There are so many things IThere are good books. There are great books. And then there are books that leave a deep imprint on your heart. This is one.
There are so many things I could say about this book. It’s about friendship, widowhood, motherhood, and community. It’s about love and loss and grief and hope. It’s about hard things and finding the strength to move forward. It’s about sowing into the lives of others….and how interconnected our lives can be if we choose it.

They have to navigate the first few weeks after the solar flare trying to not only survive what is expected to be a very long term change to their way of life, but also figure out how their going to protect their town. Shelby, a mom of a diabetic son, also has a unique concern in that if she doesn't secure insulin for her teenage son Carter, he will die. It's her greatest concern and always at the forefront of her mind, from the second the solar flare hits. Where will she go for insulin when the town thinks the power outages are more than likely nation wide? The first book in the series, I found it to have a survival element that's been hard to find in the CF world. This book is suspenseful and packed, with this group of friends constantly on the move. Looking forward to the rest of the series!...more
