Iris was dragged to the dungeon and punished with lashings by the Prince. She was left to dangle there to watch Prince Alex punish Naomi, the two who got Iris into this mess.
Once Iris is released from the dungeon she is free to study magic again at the academy, but it seems that she may actually learn more about runes from her fellow slave, Naomi.
There are scenes of bondage and whipping as well as other spiciness. If extreme whipping without blood bothers you, this may not be for you. There is less actual plot in this part of the story, although we get to know other characters better.
There was also interesting actual research done on runes which is fun.
This book leaves us on a cliffhanger with the castle in danger, and you have to find out if there are werewolves in the castle!
