Gothikana kept me on the edge of my seat!
Until the very end I had no clue who to trust, what was going on behind closed doors, wasn’t even sure whether there was magic or not.
The MMC is brooding, dark, forbidden and so alluring. I immediately fell in love with Vad Deverell. Corvina, the FMC, felt like a more mature Wednesday at times and I didn’t even mind the strong parallels. The two of them are a perfect, spicy combination. I don’t even want to go into more detail because I don’t want to hint at anything.
There were moments that irked me, when things progressed faster than they maybe should have. But seeing as the story is highly plot driven, it was easy for me to overlook. And the spice? Oh my, the spice…
The writing was good, albeit maybe with potential for a bit more development at times. I listened to the audiobook so I didn’t mind too much. (And didn’t regret it either cause Aiden Snow as the MMC’s narrator was perfect!)
One tiny detail that did irk me was the way the FMC used Tarot because the details of it seemed just not quiiite right.
Overall, I think Gothikana is the perfect, goth-y Halloween read and I am definitely sad I know how it ends now and can’t read it for the first time again! Beautifully dark, hot gothic novel that will keep you in suspense till the very end – and beyond that.
