It’s a steamy book with a good dose of humor and it’s very romantic. I liked the main characters and thought they were a good match for each other. This is workplace romance at its finest. Here’s the breakdown: Cat’s Stats MMC/FMC- Vito and Cassie (although it’s totes hawt when they call each other Mr. Blackwood and Miss Meadows) Genre- Mafia Romance Length- under 100 pages Heat- ☢️☢️☢️☢️☢️ featuring a heroine with a V-Card Series? Probably. The hero is one of triplets. Safety? Y Triggers- language, explicit erotic content, mean girls, mention of off page violence. Tropes- Workplace Romance, Fake Relationship, He Falls First (Instalove), J/P Hero, Alpha Male, Triplets, That’s Not My Leg, Do-Si-Do with the Mafioso.

The story starts out very entertaining and the zexytime is hawt, and there are some interesting layers to the hero. But. The “big reveal” that’s supposed to be so shocking was so obvious from the first mention that the hero and heroine had had a forbidden night together. And she really had no valid reason for not telling him. I can see where she might be selfish and unwise as a 20 year-old, but as she gained in maturity and age, she had to know that keeping the information from him was so very wrong. She was supposed to be this wonderful person and great mother, but she continued to lie and essentially steal something very special from him. I just can’t get past that, so that made the last 15% of the book or so pretty ridiculous. ~However ~ The first 85% of the book was very good. The drunk scene was hilarious. And the scene where the hero tells the heroine about his big disagreement with his late wife was heartbreaking. And the zexytime was really top notch. So I’m giving this book 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4. Here’s the breakdown: Cat’s Stats MMC/FMC- Weston and Harlow Genre- Contemporary Romance Length- 311 pages Heat- ...more

Cat’s Stats MMC/FMC- Stavros and Jenna Genre- Mafia Romance (Greek Mob) Length- 28 chapters and epilogue Heat- I don’t consider it hot when non consensual physical violence is considered foreplay. I consider it abuse. (Unless it’s consensual non consent, which is a whole different story, but clearly not the case here.) Series? Y Safety? N. Triggers- violence against/abuse of FMC perpetrated by MMC, other violence, language, explicit sex, attempted S.A., victim blaming (she had a physical response when he was beating her without her consent, and therefore he concluded that she wanted/enjoyed it. He either didn’t know or didn’t care that the body sometimes has involuntary arousal reactions during stress.), vandalism, gunshots, blood. Tropes- Captor/Captive, He Falls First (and I don’t know if she falls ever because I am DNFing this fuckery all the way home.), Enemies to Lovers Mewsings What I liked- you know, this had the potential to be a really good book. Between the captor/captive thing and the Enemies to Lovers, the author set the story up with some strong tropes. There was banter between the two that highlighted their electric connection. The world building was great, with an intricately detailed fictional crime world set in nonfictional cities. Yep, it could have been great. Then… What I didn’t- He beat her. With a belt. I thought, Not Cool, but I kept reading. Then he beat her with a switch and proceeded straight to sexual activity. And I DNF’d. It’s not BDSM without consent, it’s abuse. And she definitely wasn’t consenting to that and, indeed, had voiced her objections. In case you couldn’t tell by now, I think that’s uncalled for and inexcusable. It’s things like that that give BDSM a bad name.
