I love surrealism, and I am familiar with Dali's artwork, even doing a paper on his 'The Persistence of Memory', (1931) in college. His early life was a mystery to me and this comic lays out Dali's early years. Kicked out of art school, being famous for his early works, the artists he hung out with, only makes me desire to grow as an artist (myself) at that time in his life.
The artwork in this comic took liberties at showing us what it looks like in his head. I did know he was a bit of a nutcase....more

The drawings were good but the story didn't flow so smoothly. I had to go back a page to reestablish the story line to my understanding. The lettering was 'iffy' when it came to clear reading but overall I enjoyed the read..

The opportunity to reread this classic in graphic novel form was too hard to resist. I was not disappointed.
As an artist myself I found the artwork was great, the drawing of the various characters well establish, and the flow of the story as drawn was perfect. The lettering was also well established, something I appreciate in my older age. The book read very much of a Shakespearean tragedy.
I would not hesitate to buy this book. This was an ARC provided to me in exchange for an honest review....more

I cracked the book immediately. I don't consider myself a beginner artist, but I am always on the lookout for new techniques. The book does describe techniques such as line drawings, body proportion, drawing heads and faces, plus multiple characters you can practice drawing. It does have space for you to draw in, but I opted to use my own drawing notebook instead. I wish they had a section on drawing hands, hands being my shortcoming as an artist.

What's going on? The Shroud is going on. Growing bigger each day, engulfing the Earth, destroying everything it touches, steel, glass, everything but diamonds. Instead of producing city size stretches of diamonds for mankind to live on, greed and self-interest is the flavor of the day. Now mankind lives on needles that rest on small diamond squares, somewhat secured from the shroud.
