The book was awarded a Newbery Honor and a Sibert Honor in 2021. This book is written to be accessible to kids 8 or 9 years old. I recommend that for the younger kids that a parent, grandparent, or older sibling read it to them and discuss it. There are amazing pictures and graphs that help tell the story. Actually I found it very informative and extremely captivating – so, it is a good book for people 8 and above. This historical retelling is riveting! Soontornvat is a master storyteller! This retelling of the fascinating circumstances around the 2018 rescue of 12 boys and their soccer coach from a cave in northern Thailand that flooded after they entered it is truly breath taking.
