Favourite Quote:"Takes a lot of tries before you hit perfection." He paused to reconsider that. "Well, except for my parents. They got it on the first try." (Adrian)
Before starting Bloodlines I was in a reading slump. No matter which book I tried nothing was really holding my attention. But Bloodlines fixed that. I loved this book! It was a incredible story that I couldn't get enough of.
Mead is one of my favourite authors. Her writing is unbelievable. Always intensely readable and fiercely entertaining. Together with a plot that is full of tension and twists. This series is a great mix of both the alchemist and vampires worlds. And those two worlds could not be more different.
What I love about Mead's characters are that they are complicated. No cardboard cut-outs of characters here. I have to admit I wasn't sure if I was going to like Sydney as a main character. She is so different from the kick-butt Rose (from Vampire Academy) who is one of my all time favourites. But the more I read Bloodlines the more I liked Sydney. She showed loyalty, courage, kindness and surprisingly strength. I can definitely see her joining the ranks of my favourite characters.
Then you have Adrian. I have always loved him in the Vampire Academy series and I am happy to see him play such a big role in this book. He is charming, quick witted guy who is suffering from a broken heart. At times I may have been a little tiny bit frustrated that he was playing the victim. I know he is hurting (and I would love to make him all better *wink wink*) but it gets a little tired after a while. So I was very happy that as Bloodlines went on he started to show really growth and change as character and even had a hero moment or two.
Jill is such a sweet character. One you want to hug. I really connected with her and am looking forward to getting more of her story as this series goes on. Then you have more some incredible secondary characters like Eddie from Vampire Academy and a bunch of newbies including Trey, Ms Terwillger and Micah. As well as Abe who pops in every now and then and even a visit from Rose.
We all know how much I love a good romance in a story. Well Bloodlines there is no romance yet but rather some delicious chemistry simmering.
And OH the ending! Mead delivers her speciality - a knock-out ending that will leave you craving more. I wouldn't call it a cliffhanger as such but rather something that is going to leave you saying UH-OH this is going to be interesting.
Overall, Mead has delivered another novel that is nothing less than SUPERB. Bloodlines is a must read! Seriously run out and get a copy now!...more
I really loved Bite Club but I notice an error (or rather a few) in it. I don't know if you did it or soI wonder if this would work?
Dear Rachel Caine,
I really loved Bite Club but I notice an error (or rather a few) in it. I don't know if you did it or some out of their mind editor but there was only one nekkid Shane scene and by that I mean Shane getting nekkid scene. How could that happen? Are you trying to drive us crazy? Now I know how much you love your fans and hate to see them unhappy so I thought of a solution to make it all better. In Last Breath you should include a nekkid Shane scene in each chapter (and yes I mean Shane getting nekkid) and then I think we will be okay and I will let the whole Bite Club thing slide. I am also pretty sure me and my friends would buy ten copies each if you did that.

I wasn't scared, and not just because I had a purse full of small sharp weapons. There was something between us suddenly, and it wasn't merely a secret unraveling."
I always have a blast reading The Drake Chronicles and Out for Blood is no exception. There are certain elements that I require for a good vampire tale and this book ticks all the boxes - fast paced plot, action and adventure, witty dialogue and a delicious romance.
First of all this is not your average vampire tale. It has such a unique concept with the Helios-Ra, the hounds, the Host, and the Hel-Blar. In this installment Harvey focuses mostly on the Helio-Ra Academy where they train teenagers the skills to kill vampires. While the writing is good and the plot captures your attention (I devoured it in one day), it is a tad bit predictable. Don't get me wrong, there are some little surprises along the way but you know in the end the guy and the girl are going to up end together and of course save the day. But I like it that way. It is nice to have a series that doesn't need to end of a cliffhanger or with a break up.
Each installment focuses on a different member of The Drake family (expect book one which had Solange and Nicholas Drake). Out For Blood is Quinn Drake and Hunter Wild's story. And let me tell you I have been waiting for Quinn's tale (I have been drooling over him since book 1). Apart from being delicious, he has an energetic attitude and is a big flirt. While Hunter is strong and fierce but a sweetheart. Not only can she kick some butt but she is the type of girl who you would want to be friends with. Quinn and Hunter relationship is filled with lots of flirting making for sizzling chemistry. It also a lot of fun and it is nice change from all those intense paranormal romances.
We also get to visit some of our favourite couples and characters from the previous books. I love getting a glimpse of what is going on in Lucy and Nicholas' lives. I love their snarky but sweet banter toward each other.
Overall, Out for Blood won't disappoint fans of this series.
Here are some other quotes I enjoyed:
"You are actually strutting", Nicholas muttered. "Just a little. It is good for the soul."
"Quit studying- we haven't even started classes yet. Tell me about the Drake brothers. Are they as yummy as everyone says?" "Totally." I didn't even have to think about that one. "It was like being in a room full of Johnny Depps. One of them even kind of dressed like a pirate."
Note: Book 4 - Bleeding Hearts will have 3 POV's Connor (Quinn's twin) Christabel (Lucy's cousin) and also Lucy! So excited as I love Lucy and wherever Lucy is Nicholas is sure to be! They are my favourite couple. ...more

This Side of The Grave was a blast to read! It is full of action and adventure, smexy romance and plenty of laugh out loud moments.
Frost writing has great pacing constantly keeping you on the edge of your seat while being entertained especially by the dialogue full of humour. I don't think this This Side of The Grave is the strongest plot wise in the series but still it is good. Frost still manages to come up with interesting wasys to keep Cat and Bones and the gang in danger.
My favourite thing about this book and the whole series is the characters. My friend Tina ~waves~ uses this term 'it is like visiting old friends' and I think that is what reading this series is like. Cat and Bones is one of the most amusing couples. I love their playful yet sweet relationship. They still have a great spark even though this is book 5. Although some of their sexy time had me laughing so bad that I had to but the book down and until I got it together again. (view spoiler)[Seriously here is a quote....I allowed myself to stare. Bones's body was a pale, smooth landscape of beauty, the only dark interruptions being the thin line of hair on his stomach that flared to a patch of dark curls cradling the only fat thing on him. LMAO while ROFL...SERIOUSLY (hide spoiler)] And how could forget the disctinive bunch of secondary characters especially Vlad. I love the witty banter between all the characters.
Overall, if you looking for a fun, fast paced and sizzling paranormal adult read, then I suggest giving this series a try.
