Oceanview Aquarium lies within the town of Rockshore Point. Among the fish-and-chips, animal exhibits and scheduled announcements, there is an attraction called Danger Reef, which holds the only Great White ever to be raised in captivity…Riptide! When a horrifying freak accident occurs, Riptide and trainer Marla are thrown into the dark underbelly of a lawless life. Welcome to a fun-filled day at Oceanview Aquarium.
Nympho Shark Fuck Frenzy is the brainchild of Christine Morgan & Susan Snyder. These two authors are staples of the Splatterpunk community and are not afraid to swim in deep waters. Written with boobs, butts, blood and gore, this full length novel (coming in at a whopping 420 pages of awe and terror) is hands down one of my favorite reads this year.
Within the crimson water and pinkish froth, NSFF has a bizarre King Kong vibe with an extreme raw and primal edgy-ness. However, when the inevitable “left turn” is taken, all bets are off and the reader is exposed to a heavy dose of morbid misconduct that would make Edward Lee blush. Morgan and Snyder has made certain that all taboo subject matters were touched inappropriately and guarantee enough body parts, organs and sinew to start a human gumbo.
Strange. Bizarre. Creepy. Nympho Shark Fuck Fest is an ebb and flow of full on horror that pushes the limits of dark fiction. Both authors have built an aquatic universe of terror & trauma…elegance & grace…and blood & hormones. We’re not talkin’ wildlife documentary here, we’re talkin’ award worthy material, not just the Jizzies but a Splatterpunk award.
I wanted to add my favorite line from the book within this review…”she just got Samual L. Jacksoned!”…and with that my fellow extreme readers, I present a five star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Jizzie Horror Bookworm Recommendation....more
- A man takes on the task of clearing out and settling an estate. However, when his dark secret is revealed, a large collection of dolls within the home have other plans.
- When a couple decide to camp overnight at Reaper’s Bluff, they unintentionally encounter a “mad doctor’s” creation. Straight out of a 1950’s B-movie creature feature, the bizarre events following the confrontation is an unforgettable fight or flight experience.
- Sixty-two year old Agnes receives the perfect birthday gift. A set of bright orange colored fuzzy slippers. Be that as it may, when the slippers begin to violently growl, bite and eat, survival to see her next birthday begins.
The Rack, edited by Tom Deady, is a collection of stories inspired by Vintage Horror Paperbacks. These golden age mass market paperbacks from the late sixties to the early nineties were a dominate staple in horror fiction. This anthology pays homage to these wonderful paperbacks from hell.
From a not-so innocent raft lying on a calm lake to a beautiful silver-haired succubus to a heavy clawed creature seeking fleshy-food, these stories all share the common denominator of creating that old-school feeling of fear. Included is an all-star cast of authors: Ronald Malfi, Jeff Strand, Stephen King, Bridgett Nelson, Candace Nola, Laurel Hightower, Max Booth III, Rebecca Rowland, Richard Chizmar and Clay McLeod just to name a few. Damn, talk about a greatest hits album!
Strange and creepy, these talented authors string the written word together in a glorious terrifying way that will touch the heart of every horror fan. Offerings include creature features, paranormal ghosts, haunted houses, religious rituals and the worst horrors that nature has to offer, they all hide within the dark shadows of The Rack. I can already see those gruesome covers and smell those faded pages.
I have to give a shout out to Larry Hinkle, Errick Nunnally, Gwendolyn Kiste and Steve Van Samson for making the back of my neck tingle. Wow! Amazing stories! And Rebecca Rowland for incorporating Judas Priest’s Better By You, Better Than Me into her eerie tale of terror. Horns up my friend! My favorite quote from The Rack comes from author Christa Carmen…”it’ll only hurt for a second”…
Thank you Tom Deady for giving life to this monster of an anthology. Fellow readers, spin that dime-store paperback rack and fall in love with old-school horror again, I did. A five star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Horror Bookworm Recommendation....more
In the dense forests of Illinois, there lies a summer camp named Camp Whistler. As the counselors prepare for the outdoor youth camp, rumors of a predator come to life. Soon the counselors begin disappearing one by one as the foliage-lined trails lead to a blood soaked ending.
Deadly Seed 2 is the campground conception of extreme author Jerry Blaze. However, Mr. Blaze’s summer camp gig is like no other. It offers an overwhelming amount of sports, arts, science and outdoor carcass carnage. It is strongly recommended that nature scouting and trail hiking be avoided, considering the outcome may lead to melted organs and torn throats. Not since Jason has there been such a character that wreaks havoc and doles out agonizing deaths.
From vile urges to the sexual toxic loads that are bestowed upon the victims, these overbearing exploits are too tortuous to mention. Pleasure and pain is presented to the reader in Technicolor terror and sickening Surround Sound. No orifice is safe when it comes to extreme author, Jerry Blaze, be sure to check your gag reflexes at the door. This isn’t your mother’s Friday the 13th summer camp woodsy area story.
When you turn in for the night make sure you lock the doors and close the windows…once the assault starts you will pray for a quick death. A five star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Horror Bookworm Recommendation....more
Two young smoking buddies decide to trespass onto a drug-dealing farm. As they make their way past security, they find themselves (un)lucky participants in an incredibly illegal live-streaming event. As the sun sets…nighttime never bodes well in these type of situations…I’m afraid these two boys are in a world of hurt.
Butchered by Matthew A. Clarke is a dive into extreme horrors that lie within a cultivating cannabis farmhouse. Readers should expect a gritty grindhouse experience of ropes, hammers, meat-hooks, thick tan aprons and of course a big pig-freak. It will definitely make you think twice about trespassing on private land. Not since Deliverance has the squeal of a pig sent chills up my spine. Prepare your dreams to be haunted.
Due to the graphic nature of Butchered, henceforth, thee shall be dubbed Matthew ‘Morbid’ Clarke. I swear he must carry a canvas bag of creative murder toys with him at all times. Along with the absolutely beautiful cover art by Wendy Saber Core, this story is full of exploitive disturbing moments that only Tobe Hooper could appreciate. Butchered by Matthew A. Clarke is a branding iron of pain to the brain.
“Are you recording this?” Lights! Camera! Action! Let the pleading and suffering begin! If you enjoy movies like Wrong Turn, The Hills Have Eyes or Hatchet, you’re gonna dig Butchered. A Five Star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Horror Bookworm Recommendation....more
Stephen’s obsession is to find his recently missing wife. During his search he uncovers a road that leads to a literal Hell. Welcome to the live streaming broadcast of The Lost Souls’ Playground, where thousands of fans tune in for sadistic torture porn.
The Lost Souls’ Playground by Will Suffer is an amusement park of silent screams, tears and charred flesh. Naked and bound, it’s a sex slave show capitalizing on carnage, murder and sexual assault. It’s pretty much a gore-fest broadcast feed of the highest extreme. On the dark web, anything goes when lunatics are behind the camera. What happens in the basement of The Lost Souls’ Playground, stays in the basement of The Lost Souls’ Playground.
Author Will Suffer pulls no punches when it comes to excruciating pain and suffering. His written word is disgustingly enjoyable. This exploitive freak show style of writing is comparable to a modern day Herschell Gordon Lewis screenplay. Shocking and disturbing, the author probes the depths of disgust and discomfort using leashes, ball gags and remote control collars. If you can stomach the gore and gruesomeness, this book is for you.
Mr. Suffer would like his extreme followers to tune in tonight for this months game of Heaven or Hell. And don’t forget to sign up for The Lost Souls’ Playground’s membership and newsletter. As the body count rises, the Moon City Cannibal claims yet more victims. This killer has been at large for almost five years, gutting and eating men, women and children. He does not discriminate. When a detective is given a young rookie partner, both vow to apprehend the madman loose in the city.
Stuart Bray presents, The Blade In The Bath. Let’s get this part over with…rated X with content warnings…blah blah blah…and you know the rest. Murder, mayhem, rotting flesh and a psychopath with major grandma issues (that would make Norman Bates blush), this author crosses every line that is drawn in the sand. His antagonist wears a burlap sack hood, coveralls, black rubber gloves and a brown leather tool belt. Weapons of choice include power drill, screwdriver, rusty hacksaw and a serrated blade. All the tools every serial killer should own.
Presented in color and shot on 8mm film for your reading pleasure, The Blade In The Bath is written in a horror grindhouse movie kinda way. This production includes intermissions, reel changes, a short film by Jack Merridew and that old magic low resolution grainy picture. From the opening sequence to the closing credits, the depravity and stomach churning deeds of the twisted main character would make Leatherface tip his human skinned mask.
And lastly the cast of characters include Dan Schrader, Jonathan Butcher, Donald Plesance and Gene Hackman. This is one you won’t soon forget, especially when you view the crime scene photos and find out what’s chained in the basement. This ‘filthy beast’ of a book deserves a five star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Horror Bookworm Recommendation....more
Three teenage boys are surfing the web for ‘spicy sites’ when they come across a deplorable live feed of violence and sexual assaults. The friends decide to copy these acts of violations. The plan is to kidnap a random female, impregnate her and milk her like cattle, emulating the images they witnessed online.
Cattle Drive is the first installment in a new series by the extreme king himself Matthew Vaughn. With undertones of barns, farmers and intense suffering, this flesh feast of extreme horror is not only gruesome and gory, it allows a front row seat to major psychological disturbances. Prepare yourself, the twisted nature and nauseating descriptions of extreme emotional situations comes from the writing talent of Matthew Vaughn.
Matthew Vaughn has a distinctive way of using unhinged characters and their morbid motivations. If you have the desire for a new reading experience, look no further, Cattle Drive over-indulges in discomfort and an environment of horrific crimes. It’s these factors of controversial ethics that push the limits and causes a spontaneous adrenaline rush. Vaughn definitely knows how to stimulate and satisfy the reader’s curiosity about the dark side of the human psyche.
Be prepared to participate in a most unusual cattle drive experience. You might want to bring the following: weather clothing, riding gear, camping equipment and a full supply of barf bags. Because ya know, “sometimes things don’t go quite as planned” and of course we all know…”cows don’t talk…they moo.” A five star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Horror Bookworm Recommendation....more
Dr. Francisco Delgado, who specializes in arachnids, works for a medical research facility. He has made a trip into the thick foliage of the Amazon jungle, the purpose being to search for a rare species of tarantula. Not only does he find the elusive spider, he discovers a new kind of madness and fresh hell that has been bestowed on earth.
Red Inside is made up of layers that are unapologetic violent webs of vile creatures and deadly diseases. I’m talking about some hardcore terrestrial tarantulas and aggressive Patient Zero stuff here. All this from the demented mind of Bridgett Nelson. From anus to mouth, this author gives the infected gift that keeps on giving. I’m personally holding her accountable for tapping into my trigger warnings.
Gut-wrenching moments of inhuman horror seems to be Bridgett’s forte. Her descriptive storytelling causes my imagination to look like a nasty open wound. Let’s talk about the look of this well-packaged book. I gotta mention the cover art as well as the inside pages. It’s truly a complete package of parasitic enjoyment. By the way, when the child clinging to the ceiling softly sings ‘itsy bitsy spider’ it gave me the creepiest of chills (not kidding).
I don’t know which is worse, having a living spider underneath your skin or having a necrophiliac streaker on the loose vomiting blood? Which leads to my favorite line in the book - “this is some Twilight Zone bullshit.” If author Robin Cook and splatterpunk genius Edward Lee had a baby, its name would be Bridgett Nelson. Einar is a thief, mercenary, pirate, warrior, barbarian and presently a chained slave upon a large seagoing vessel. When an unnatural storm presents an opportunity for Einar to escape, its precious cargo is also released into the world. Einar and a small band of companions end up shipwrecked along with the deadly cargo on a deserted island that does not exist on any charts or maps. Rescue and survival is nearly impossible for all who remain.
Island Of The Dead is the brainchild of Mr. Zombie himself, Brian Keene. This novel successfully mixes sword and sorcery with a good number of horrific scenes of the unbelievable. Enormous sized insects, magical obelisks and of course the shambling living dead all have one thing in common…the urge to feed upon the living. These castaway companions will encounter some of the most vicious inhabitants that are cloaked in darkness.
Brian Keene fuses social commentaries of race, religion, creed and culture into one reality-warping story of the darkest kind. Zombies are equal opportunity eaters which leads me to the next subject…graphic violence. If you like your chaotic infestations with a heavy dash of the dead, let me tell ya, Keene reinterprets some of the most gnarliest creative and original deaths this side of a Romero film. When it comes to flesh-eating zombie lore, ya can’t go wrong with the Keene kind.
With the island’s extraordinary wildlife and a mouthful of flesh and sinew, you might ask the question…how do you kill something that’s already dead. Brian Keene answers this question in his book, Island Of The Dead. A five star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Horror Bookworm Recommendation....more
Equipped with their helmets and flashlights, David and Ashley are hired to document and map an underground cave. Within the job site and the exploration of dark tunnels, the two discover something that is beyond their comprehension and has been dwelling below the town of Custer Falls.
D.W. Hitz brings forth his creations of mucus and bloodied creepy crawlers within a place few humans have ever seen. It Came From Inside is a skin crawling infestation of chaotic carnage. Custer Falls not only offers outdoor hiking, rock climbing and scenic drives, it also offers parasitic alien organisms. These slithering worm-shaped appendages provide some of the strangest scenes of metamorphosis I have ever read. It’s the slime covered chapters of creativity that are the gifts that keep on giving. (I believe the town’s motto is ‘just let it happen’)
D.W. Hitz does it again, what an amazing prolific author this guy is. I never get tired of reading his unsettling stories and the dark inhabitants of Custer Falls. His defined writing style is like an extreme/splatterpunk version of Willy Wonka. Each read is a unique experience that leads to a disturbing kind of trigger warning magic. If you want the full tour and the ultimate visit, I suggest you grab Custer Falls Extreme Horror Omnibus. D.W. Hitz you make the world weird, and for that we readers thank you. And lastly we have to mention the beautiful cover art by Matt Seff Barnes. Wow!
It Came From Inside is as fun as a barrel full of bodies. It felt like I smoked some Devil’s lettuce with a top off of ‘magic’ mushrooms. Hitz is a helluva drug. Having to walk home from a date gone bad and seeking refuge from a raging storm for the night, a young teen becomes stranded within the walls of what seems to be an abandoned house. Unfortunately, this old manor holds many disturbing and creepy secrets. It’s gonna be a long dark night for this individual.
Candace Nola lights her candle and holds the reader’s hand as she enters the ultimate haunted mansion called Shadow Manor. Marble statues, staircase banisters, stained-glass windows, bookcases and enormous chandeliers are all present. Using dark shadows, musty smells, lightning strikes and thunder claps, Nola sets the mood like no other. Bouncing between the 1920’s and the present, grief and death take precedence within the pages of this pain filled supernatural novella. Candace Nola nails every poetic page with horrific misery, mourning and madness.
Every once in a blue moon a book crosses your path that unexpectedly blows you away. That unsettling Lovecraftian type narrative that emphasis the supernatural is slowly revealed, brought to you under the penmanship of Candace Nola. Literally, from the cradle to the grave, I was totally lost in this lingering presence of purgatory, pain and despair. Be wary, there are more shadows than meets the eye.
What lengths would you take to find peace and solace within a sea of emotional torment? If you have room in the pit of your stomach, give Shadow Manor a read. You can thank me later. A Five Star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Horror Bookworm Recommendation....more
Located in Stanton Island, New York, a biological laboratory is experimenting with ground-breaking research. However, when the burning of chemicals causes an unusual plume of smoke, a horrific byproduct is released upon the innocent. Better known as a spider-cric, the everyday Camelback Cricket has been directly effected by this phenomenon as well. Humanity has somehow turned itself off, and mutant insects of various sizes have become the hunters of flesh.
Crics by Edward J. McFadden III is the ultimate creature feature novel. Humped back, icicle-like teeth, snapping pinchers and bulbous eyes all come at you in various shapes and sizes. These vicious fantastical monstrosities are the primary antagonists that create a creepy atmosphere. Further more, these unusual species of cave/spider crickets come in sizes small, large, jumbo and behemoth.
I love how Crics literally takes off from page one and never slows down. Not to mention this author knows how to establish the sights, sounds and smells of an apocalyptic takeover by predatory life forms. Not unlike zombies, it’s the number of these beasts that will eventually cause your demise. A plethora of jump-scare moments await the reader like a cat-sized mutant bug waiting in the damp dark corner of your basement.
Aggressive, surreal and violent would be my chosen words to describe this reading experience. The Emergency Broadcast System is publicly warning the threat of a national crisis. Mark, a pizza delivery driver, is forced to pay back a debt by delivering drugs on his “pizza route.” Driving around with a car full of drugs, Mark gets caught up in the all too real world of murder, missing persons, snuff films and human trafficking. As he tries to escape the underbelly of extreme criminal brutality, not only is his life in jeopardy but his loved ones as well. Mark begins to hatch a daring escape plan for his family and himself.
Two heavy hitting authors of the extreme/splatterpunk community have joined forces to produce an unnerving story of ultimate decadence. Robert Essig and Jack Bantry hold the reader captive as they are forced to witness a lawless underground. This criminal coercion of prostitution and its violent ways is the gritty subject matter of intense violence of sexual predators.
I think the realism is the most terrifying part of this book. Evil monsters aren’t necessarily demonic clowns or a deep-space alien. These pop culture images are nothing compared to the all-too-real evil created by Essig and Bantry. Many creepy moments await, which in turn causes a constant sense of dread in the pit of your stomach.
Ain’t Worth A Shit by Robert Essig and Jack Bantry is anything but ordinary. You know perversion has reached a new level when the gimp is brought out…shit just got real. Brothers Hunter and Grayson are getting ready for their highly anticipated camping trip. Once arriving at Lake Marsh, home of the great Canadian Marshmallow Shark, the two brothers undergo puppet-life changing experiences. This is a book about puppets and sharks…or rather puppet sharks.
Author Cat Voleur introduces readers to the world of puppets and its surroundings that are narrated by Fisherman Fred. Puppet Shark is creatively comprised of smaller side stories, these include a couple of groovy hippies enjoying the seemingly calm water, Dr. Dental that helps solve an affliction of stinky shark breathe and a director/cinematographer determined to catch his opus film. (and let’s not forget The Ballad of Mac the Shark.) With an age appropriate PG13 rating, this book comes with trigger warnings that include puppet shark chomps and descriptive decapitations of the wood and foam kind.
Little clumsy puppet fingers, excited open-mouthed smiles and unusual speech patterns, Voleur’s puppet descriptions and dialog are hilarious. With a heavy dose of entertaining comedy mixed with foam-rubber and fleece-fabric horror, Cat’s art of storytelling is enough to give any reader the hibby-jibbies (cue the ominous music).

The Ojanox: Book 1 Scream In The Dark by Daemon Manx sets the stage for the beginning of multiple storylines that mutates into one horrific tome. Violations by an unseen force and the fear it brings to the innocent is a whole new level of terror. Scream In The Dark is a creature feature that offers much more than an horrific monster, it’s a close encounter of the parasitic kind. You may never know the beast by its origin…for its name is Ojanox.
This is book one in a four part series of The Ojanox. Pain and anguish will be your tour guide as Manx delivers his fear factory with strange elements of the darkest kind. Its intoxicating atmosphere is a disturbing concept that guarantees the reader one heck of an unsettling good time. Book One, Scream In The Dark, garners a compelling enticement while leaving enough open ends to justify further books. I’m ready to dive into Book Two and see what lurks in the darkness and how this eerie series continues to grow.

The year is 1983, the Soviets have launched a nuclear attack on America. A small percentage of the population have survived resulting in a non-functioning society. However, the survivors suffer from mental and physical illnesses. Mutations have become widespread. As there is little to no hope, a young girl named Belladonna Beauregard (better known as Razortooth) endures the bizarre struggles of the aftermath. This is her story.
Stephen Kozeniewski and Stevie Kopas has created a wasteland of post-apocalyptic dark fiction. Some of the most freakish and interesting characters live within this mushroom cloud of bizarreness. Marisol Martinez- Queen of the Allied Texas Republic, Eva-a post-apocalyptic business woman and of course Razortooth-whose known as an extreme renegade. All these Geiger Land characters “do all sorts of terrible shit to everybody in terrible ways.” If you like your horror with some mutant infestation, radiation revenge and severed penises…this book is right up your Armageddon alley.
Slashvivor!, a book about a reality show of a booby-trapped arena and serial killers within, is a direct link to the novel Razortooth. With explosive action, chilling moments of horror and commercial breaks included, these visions of violence are fun for the whole family. And let’s not forget about Incontaminada brand beans and the Chrisler Mustang 4000 (which makes post-apocalyptic carpooling great again). These two authors take dystopian storytelling to a new and creative level.
“…there’s no such thing as safety…” is how I would describe Razortooth. Or maybe “…in the event of death or dismemberment…” But one thing is for certain, it’s a five star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Horror Bookworm Recommendation. (I hope they continue with this “series”)...more
In the sweltering heat of Georgia there is a small town known as Fly Creek. Within their borders lies Willie Grimes’ Bait Farm, where live worms are sold. A freak storm of torrential downpour causes roads to be flooded, power lines knocked down and the disappearance of several town-folk. What happens when the town of Fly Creek is invaded by man-eating worms with no way out? This was the night of the crawling terror.
Author Richard Curtis has brilliantly written a novelization based on the classic 1976 horror film, Squirm. Sporting needle-like fangs and strength in numbers, these slimy flesh seeking worms are twisting and writhing your way. Who would have thunk that skin burrowing creatures in a bait-box could do so much damage.
Confronting nature eyeball-to-eyeball apparently seems to be one of Richard Curtis’ many strengths. Plenty of disturbing moments are to be had as these angry aggressive specimens help unearth one of the best killer-animal horror books you will ever read. Not kidding, I loved the sights and sounds of backwoods crickets and toads within this creepy crawly novel. Crimson blood and non-stop gore from the soil. (now there is a great blurb!)
Keep in mind when turning those shower hot and cold knobs to their full open positions, terror comes from where you least expect it. This is one author that knows how to get under your flesh. Kudos goes to Richard Curtis and Encyclopocalypse Publishing for helping create a genuinely terrifying book. A well-deserved five star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Horror Bookworm Recommendation....more
Stander and Secrist, childhood best friends, decide to dig into rumors/stories of the intimidating and weird Relict Mansion. Connections to past archeological symbolism from the sands of Egypt to present day discoveries brings deadly curses as well as a fetish serial killer.
The Shroud, (a cloth used to wrap a corpse for burial) is author DM Gritzmacher’s newest chamber of horrors. From Egypt (2600 BC) to Cairo (1962) to Iowa/Illinois (present day). With the likes of Imhotep, Nefertem and Ptah, The Shroud carries a horrific hieroglyphics legacy that has roamed the earth since the dawn of man. Included of course is an extreme amount of Skulldiggery.
From resurrected creatures, haunting burial chambers to a strange interwoven fabric, The Shroud Book 4 of the Skulldiggery series can also be read as a stand alone. Explore Gritzmacher’s spooky underground sarcophagus scares or experience the horrors that his other books have to offer. You can’t go wrong.
Gritzmacher has a distinct writing style that I love. He can weave together storylines and plots as well as any Tarantino screenplay. His storytelling techniques are not presented in chronological order, instead the story is revealed piece by piece while jumping back and forth in time. Exploiting fears and faith with care and precision is a tool used to make his books terrifyingly unpredictable. If you’re not reading DM Gritzmacher, you should be.

Innocence Ends is an end-of-times post-apocalyptic look into an unfolding man-made biological horror. Seeking shelter and survival from a shuffling and shambling threat becomes a priority from an inhuman sinister evil. Amid the uneven surface of writing horror, Nikolas Robinson has an impressive way of creating his characters, storylines and plots.
