I fell in love with Rylee Harris, a baker in Honey Hill, North Carolina and sheriff, Canten Barnes. Both have lost a spouse and though not ready to move on romantically they "secretly" have been attracted to each other. Rylee's mother tries to set her up with other people, so she tells her she is dating, Canten. Canten agrees to it for his own reason, the ladies in town just won't leave him alone. The sexual tension is there when they are together. Will this "fake" relationship last much longer before it becomes "real." The book is filled with humor. I loved seeing the camaraderie between Rylee and her best girlfriends. Talking about laughter, oh the things these ladies talk about and get into. The book is so charming, I just loved the characters. You've got to love Canten, as the sheriff he arranges his schedule so he's able to drive past the bakery when Rylee is working at 4:30 a.m. just to be sure he safe. Canten and Rylee each have a dynamic relationship with their parents and each other's parents. This couple is sweet, sassy and everything in between and I will now need to read more by this author.

When they go through rumspringa they are exposed to a lot of the things Englishers experience and some are led astray by these Englishers. Such as the case with Leah Miller, in over her head she feels excited to have an Englisher boyfriend and is happy to sneak out to see him at night. Shortly after she starts seeing him her whole family is killed. This Amish woman leaves the Amish faith and joins the police force seeking revenge. When the killings start back up again after sometime Leah and her partner, police chief Dalton Cooper must prove without a doubt who the guilty party is. After her family was killed Leah thought the murder was solved because the person that was blamed for the murders killed themselves. When innocent young Amish women start turning up dead again we know this isn't the case and the killer is still among us. As the book goes on we can see a pattern repeating itself so we have a good idea of who has done the killings. The book is so hard to put down. I read it in less that 24 hours. The suspense really grabbed my attention . Riveting, it kept me on the edge of my seat. I'll admit to feeling uneasy a bit while reading this. The author does suspense very well. Read it and find out the significance of the number ten. If you're just coasting through this book and I'm not sure how you could be doing that with all that's going on there is a big reveal pretty close to the end that'll give you a nice jolt. Highly enjoyed and recommended!

I know when I read her cozy mysteries that I'll get a good, fun clean read. The Amish and English characters make for a great combination in the story and keep it interesting. There were twists and turns in the book that I just didn't see coming. The murder takes place early in the book and it kept me guessing right til the end when it was revealed who did it. We are introduced to many characters. Dairy,Dairy Quite Contrary is the first book in the Sunflower Cafe mystery. I recommend it and look forward to more by this author to enjoy.

But I am always so excited when I see Susan May Warren has a new book out and I can start reading it. I shouldn't be surprised I enjoyed it so much . But seriously this one just has to be her best yet! Once I start reading a book by her everything else just disappears and it's total concentration on the book. This is the second book in the Sky King Ranch series and I already feel as though I know all the personalities of the characters . This one is former Navy Seal Ranger Kingston, who is a lifelong bachelor and Nigerian woman Noemi Sutton's story. Terrorist in Nigeria have Ranger's brother Colt hostage and as he attempts to rescue him he lays eyes on another hostage a beautiful woman from his past that he could never get out of his mind,Noemi. Escaping from Nigeria with their lives intact will take every possible move this former Seal has learned. This book provides nonstop exciting action to get out of many perilous situations. I really enjoyed learning about the Nigerian culture, foods, customs, languages and descriptions of the area . So many , how can they get out of that situation moments. With the danger Noemi has following her is it possible for their marriage of convenience to actually turn into the real thing before one of them gets hurt? Contains faith based messages that she weaves into all of her books. Excellent! Highly Recommended!

She has never met her grandmother because her mother had a falling out with her when she was a young woman and she hasn't spoken with her since. Kitty learns her mother came from a privileged background and her grandmother tried to control who her mother married but she married for love and not money. Kitty has a heart full of compassion and becomes a nurse just as the war is starting. The influenza pandemic overwhelms all healthcare workers alike but many including Kitty selflessly work past the point of exhaustion putting themselves at risk of contracting contagious diseases. The influenza outbreak of 1918 was nondiscriminatory killing rich and poor alike. I am so thankful for all health care workers who like Kitty ,go above and beyond caring for those in need. One of the patients she had was a very sick little boy who she became close to. It was heartwarming seeing the relationship she had with him and his family, helping all. I can understand how those in the medical field would feel down when one of their patients dies, you would feel like not only are you failing them but you're failing yourself. Kept my attention all the way through. I really enjoyed this book. I can't wait to read whatever the author puts out next.

Our main character is a young burned out vet needing to some time to not think about work and just relax. When a scheduled appointment from a from a regular at the vet's office turns into an ocean side vacation how could she say no. After all taking care of their sweet pooch for a summer couldn't be easier, right? Going here to just relax and walk the dog on Nantucket is all she plans to do. She wants to keep it a secret that she's a vet and disassociate herself with this title for the summer. No vet business for her. I really loved her the dogs figured so prominently in the book and it was so fun getting to see their personalities shine. Summer romance ready or not here it comes in the form of a juice guy selling his expensive homemade health juices from a push cart near the beach. The interaction between the two is dynamic, loved their conversations and how they take the dogs for walks together. Now there are some tough subjects touched upon here that the author does a great a great job of addressing and sifting through the important parts. It looks like our main characters may break up over what Morgan discovers about Nathan's past. I kept thinking, give him another chance because he seems like such a nice guy and we all change from our past. You'll have to read it to see if they stay together. Really enjoyed and recommended!

I am loving that it takes place in Iowa as well. (My daughter lives there.) This book is about hope, dreams, forgiveness, strength, compassion, understanding and faith. We seem to all start out with dreams and so many times things don't go as we plan and we give up. Dreams here go astray as well and our main characters, whom I just love by the way are flexible and change with their dreams. Their relationship is strong, nurtured by faith, love, compassion, strength and really listening to what each other as to say and adjusting the relationship with this. Dreams change and need to be nurtured. What was important at one time may no longer as important but we give love and respect to new dreams coming in. I absolutely loved seeing the child in this book going from a street urchin to a well behaved, secure in his surroundings, part of a family person. The growth we see in the characters is fantastic. Heartwarming book. I do believe this is my favorite the author has written. It's a very strong story.

You know, one of those books that's good while you're reading it but so easily forgotten. What I got was a whole lot more. Oh my, this book is so heartwarming and full of emotion. As preteens two girls go to the same summer camp and become best friends,do everything together and promise to stay best friends for life. While at the camp the girls come to realize they have the same father so they're half-sisters. Feeling betrayed, hurt and confused they break off all contact with each other and these feelings have years to fester. Years later they learn their father has left his beach house to both of them. Now these two sisters couldn't be more different, one is a star influencer, polished, highly fashionable, always on and ready to take that filtered photo for her adoring fans. The other is down to earth, sensible and ready to get the job done, whatever job that may be. The stipulation is the girls can not just sell the beach house but how can they possibly get along to make the decisions concerning the fixing up of the beach house when they can't even carry on a normal conversation without screaming at each other? From one fiasco to the next from guy trouble to fashion mishaps and home improvement flops can the sisters learn how to be civil to each other? I enjoyed seeing the relationship between the sisters growing and changing. There is so much family heartache and misunderstanding and blame that finally comes to light. Through an olive branch being extended and many talks and tears there is light ahead. Very heartwarming. I'll be reading this one again!

This is a most delightful book with it's dual time-line you'll get pulled into two delightful stories that just seamlessly mesh. Lucille has a special and loving relationship with her Grandmother Sylvie and will do anything for her. When her grandmother asks her to go from England to Paris to find a priceless Dior dress she believes she'll be home quickly and easily with the task completed. What she doesn't count on is needing to rent a French apartment and finding a side of her grandmother she had never know about. The book kept me spellbound while reading about the 1950's glamour of the fashionable Dior gowns,an opulent lifestyle a forbidden affair, well kept secrets and a heartbreaking betrayal. So many glamorous Dior gowns each representing a special time. You can practically feel the heaviness and sumptuousness of the velvet and other lush materials of the vintage gowns in your hands. Secrets and heartbreak comes alive in this book I was unable to put down!

I believe this to be my favorite series by this author but I may just say that about all of her series because I LOVE them all! Luke "Preach" Davenport is one of the Horsemen brothers but there's really not as much for him to do now that his brothers have settled into domestic bliss. Needing to keep busy he's keeping up the fight for the good life, for the poor, weak and defenseless. He's taken on tracking down a group of cattle rustlers which will put him in more danger than he realizes. Damaris Baxter is a single woman who enjoys the simple things in life, like needlepoint, canning, baking and reading. Quiet simplicity is her way of life and she's fine with that. When her brother dies unexpectedly she finds she is the guardian now of her nephew,Nathaniel. To honor her brother's memory she will take care of her nephew but they are having a hard time getting to know one another again now that her nephew is a teen and it's been some years since she's seen him. He's grieving the loss of his father but thinks it's not manly to show his feelings so Nathaniel acts out and him locking her in the cellar looks like child's play compared to what he gets blamed for next. Nathaniel goes from a sullen, immature teen to a mature, trustworthy young man. I enjoyed seeing this. I enjoyed the interactions between Luke and Damaris. He is a fine person, trustworthy and an excellent protector. Luke enjoys reading scripture and sharing it also has a past and is battling his own demons but will this family help him keep the past there as he finds mercy and love? I enjoyed the western feel of the book and it's wide open spaces. This can be read as a stand alone but I do recommend to read this series in order to get the full benefit of it.

So many books have been written about the men off fighting the war on foreign soil. This one takes place on American soil and is about the people left at home while their loved ones are off fighting. A woman missing her husband, recently widowed is running their Wisconsin farm along with her two daughters and a son. Her two older sons are in Germany fighting the war. Missing them desperately every day they pray for their safe arrival back home. One thing I had never heard of was German POW's being held were used as laborers at farms with a guard at every work area. The farms still needed planting and harvesting to provide for themselves and those on the frontline. The author brings to life the feelings the characters have in the many situations they are forced to endure. There is a light romance, but I am glad that it wasn't the focal point of the book. I enjoyed the information the author presented especially in her notes in the back of the book. I've learned so much from this series.

Sea GlassSea Glass Summer is the second book in the Seashell Harbor series. The first book, Coming Home to Seashell Harbor is Hadley and Cam's story. Sea Glass Summer is Kit, Alex and Ollie's story. Ollie is a sweet little boy, five years old. The son of Kit and her husband Carson. Strong protector never made it back from his military mission. Grieving Kit moved herself and her son into her parents house for support mentally but after three years there she is ready for them to have some breathing room and her to get on with her life. The fixer upper Victorian beach house her late husband owns is a total money drain but she vows to put everything she has into it to fix it up and sell it. She's noticed her son has lagging confidence and frankly she does as well. She's convinced being out on their on will help this tremendously. Grieving deeply for her husband she promises herself she will do all she can to keep her husband's memory alive for her son. Fixing the beach house has taken more money than she realizes so when her husband's best friend Alex offers to help with the repairs at cost she finds it's an offer she can't refuse. Alex is grieving right along with Kit because he and Carson have been best friends for so long. Spending so much time with Alex she finds herself falling for him and he has had feelings for her for forever but with her being married never acted on them. I love how the relationship between Kit and Alex moves slowly and respectfully. He loves Ollie and includes him in many things. All looks great in this relationship until Kit finds out a secret Alex has been keeping and it devastates her. Will the relationship be able to recover and go back to where it was? This book is so down to earth, homey and realistic. It brought me to tears a few times. I highly recommend it!

You can be assured there's plenty of romance in this hard to put down fun book. The first book in the series was sister Lucy Marshall's story now it's grade school teacher Stella Marshall’s turn to have a little romance brighten her life. Her high school crush is back in town, former Navy SEAL, Luke Keegan. He never even noticed her back in school when she was crushing on him but believe me he sure notices her now. There is wild speculation around this small charming town that the two are already an item so they agree on a fake romance to throw everyone off track. What they feel between them isn't fake though so how do they fight their feelings? Luke doesn't feeling deserving of a good woman such as Lucy though after what he went through as a SEAL. Romance or memories? Will Luke let his past hold him back from a fresh start with this special woman? The author writes in a sensitive way handling the character's PTSD in a gentle way. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this inspirational series.
