I enjoyed listening to both Gigi and Ryder’s The Graham Effect was a cute audio read and it passed the time. The narrators totally were a win for me. I enjoyed listening to both Gigi and Ryder’s voices. YAY!
I’m not a big sports fan, so it’s a little hard for me to get into the plot but I do like Elle Kennedy. I appreciate this is a spin-off series from the Off-Campus series. I also like that the Graham effect doesn’t have a slutty cover. I kind of like to listen to my audio books while my kids do their swimming lessons. I don’t want my phone to accidently show a half-naked woman or man.
So yeah, I don’t really have anything to complain about. There wasn’t that much tension and the banter between the characters was pretty normal and cute. They don’t totally interact until the 30% percent mark, so there is a lot of character building, but listening to it via audio, it wasn’t a big deal.
The book is pretty spicy! So if you are in the mood for that kind of reading, you will get plenty of it. I wished I liked reading sports books more though. ...more

I 4 The Underdog Stars
Ginger Scott is known for her NA sports theme romance book with dramatic plots and heavy characters and Memphis is no different.
I love a good underdog kind of read. You have two characters, Olivia and Memphis. Olivia has a mega chip on her shoulders. She’s crawling back to her old town with her tail between her legs. Things didn’t turn out the way she expected and all she’s looking to do is save enough cash to leave again.
Olivia is a tough cookie and I guess you kind of have to be when you grew up in a dysfunctional family. I liked her most of the time but there are moments she was just a bit too strong for me. I get the tough girl act, but she can come across kind of rude, she is at least no wallflower that is for sure.
I did like Olivia’s story though. You feel for the girl and you wonder why she has such a horrible relationship with her family and it’s a big point of the book. Almost everything revolves around her and her family.
I love Memphis and adore him. I love everything about him, from where he came from, his name and I even imagine him as the guy on the cover and that hardly happens. I love a good underdog story and I was just rooting for Memphis to make it big. He has two cents to his name and endless drive. He doesn’t want to win for the glory, but because he loves the sport and don’t you love that?
Olivia and Memphis relationship was filled with tension. Memphis attraction towards Olivia is what drove the story for me. I loved reading about him and how he pursed Olivia. The best part of the book is the slow relationship they build and I love the character development. I wasn’t just thrown into the story. I got a lot of background and character interaction. The book felt very organic and real.
I enjoyed the secondary characters, the coach, the mom and the uncle. They added a little tension to the book and it kind of drove how Olivia and Memphis felt for each other (just a tiny bit).
Overall, Memphis is a heartwarming story about second chances, redemption and striving to succeed.

If this was your first Mariana Zapata book, I wouldn’t recommend The Best Thing, but if you are a fan of hers already, then this is good. Not every book needs to hit it out of the park. I found The Best Thing nice to listen to. I had it on the background while I worked.
I felt like this book had the least amount of angst, which I enjoyed. I love a single mama story and the rift between the two main characters wasn’t the focal point of the story, which I loved as well.
It’s a second chance novel about re-loving again. Very sweet. Very much needed in this bleak of times. ...more

This is Stevie (Heroine) story, she’s the sister of the Hero from the first book. You can read the story out of order, but what’s the point?
You got to love Kindle Unlimited when you can get the audio as well. I basically got this book because of the narrators. There are some books you just listen to because of that, also I don’t think I would have picked up this book otherwise.
Overall, 90% of the book is light, funny and great to have in the background when I’m working. I like the tension between Stevie and Bishop. Their first meeting is a bit dicey, I mean who talks like that to a person they just meet, but I went with it. Once they formed a friendship, it was cute to hear about their meetings.
I didn’t like the last hour of the book because of course, you know what hits the fan and I hate the last minute tension author’s throw in. Stevie got on my nerves b/c of her issues. I wish that wasn’t part of the writing formula, I had to listen to the book 2X the speed to get through that part, but other than that, it’s a light book. ...more
You know how you have a favorite author and they always hit the mark and then you read one of their books and you s3 Yup… all the low reviews are true
You know how you have a favorite author and they always hit the mark and then you read one of their books and you scratch your head thinking…. You wrote this one too?
Yeah, that’s how I feel about Pucked Up. Granted I am reading the series years later than everyone, but goodness, this one was an effort to get through and Joe Arden’s voice couldn’t save this book for me either.
The book is just written poorly. I mean, you have a lot of things going wrong in this one.
1.) The pace was off, like way off. You have pages and pages of useless filler trying to be funny writing. The first part of the book is Buck being a total messed up and letting girls see him naked (granted he is drunk) but still. I didn’t understand the long introduction of the story.
2.) Like my first comment there was way too much not needed writing. There was a WHOLE section dedicated to Buck shaving his private parts. Like if I was a male and I needed an instruction manual, I could have used this book for reference! I know Helena is trying to be “funny” but it came off as cringe worthly and awkward.
3.) The Heroine, Sunny is awful and it didn’t help she didn’t get her own POV. Because the whole book is in Miller’s POV, you truly saw his side, even though he’s insane at times, but Sunny was just plan ANNOYING. I love it when the Hero chases after the Heroine, but oh my goodness does he have to bleed himself dry to win the affection of a not-so great girl? Seriously what was so great about her?
The ENTIRE book is about Sunny not trusting Miller and misunderstanding pictures posted on social media. REALLY?! A picture can only show a portion of the truth and instead of having a normal conversation like normal adults, Sunny flips out and acts irrationally.
This book was STRUGGLE to get through. I had to speed up the narration to 2X to just finish.
I truly recommend skipping this book if you are going through the series. ...more
I LOVE Savannah Peachwood, I felt like she made the book for me. Jason Clarke was not a narrator for this book h5 Audio version is the way to go Stars
I LOVE Savannah Peachwood, I felt like she made the book for me. Jason Clarke was not a narrator for this book he had one chapter, so don’t think it’s a dual narrator read.
Anyhow, this book has mixed ratings and I can see that. The plot and writing structure is all over the place. The summary undersold what the reading is really about and the Heroine is a bit of a damsel in the beginning.
But you know what … It all worked for me.
I’m not a big fan of angst and Enemies had the right combo of tension that kept me glued to my earphones. I know everyone loves the super angsty books on the Amazon’s trending list, but that’s just not for me. Sometimes having a somewhat nice Hero is good you know. You don’t want your daughter to date jerk!
Dusty is a mess. She has a tragic past, a hard life and she has no one in her corner. It can be a bit much for some readers, but I liked it. I wasn’t really fond of the prologue (I felt like that could have been left out) but once you get past that, it was a roller coaster of a read.
Dusty’s is going to a new town, a fresh start, she’s starting a new college and she’s living in a house with a bunch of GASP mean roommates! But nothing is all what it seems. So the beginning of the book you listen to Dusty’s struggles and you just feel for the girl. She kind of puts herself in the situation.
She continues to calls herself an outcast, yet when nice people go out of their way to be her friend she flakes out on them (she even mentions how odd that is).
There’s a lot of drama in the book and that kind of reformed the relationship between Stone and Dusty for me.
I liked how everything is kind of put out there for Dusty and Stone and they start this odd but not kind of healthy relationship. What made the book for me are for the cute moments. You know, the girl is struggling and falls apart and here comes the Hero to save the day, several times.
I like that okay! Call me crazy, but that is why I watch Korean Dramas because that’s all those shows are about.
So Enemies might not work for everyone, but it 100% worked for me. ...more

I’ve been seeing this book trend on Amazon for sometime and decided to give a new author a go. The book was okay but I’m not sure the writing style is for me. The book is highly descriptive and there’s tons of inner monologue. I prefer dialogue based books and I found myself skimming some pages until I found conversations between two people.
I like the nanny / boss trope. I’m a sucker for single Daddys and who doesn’t like to read a sports romance around the super bowl time. Husband watches the game and I read my “sporty” book.
I think I would have liked this book more in audio format because I tend to like more descriptive based books via audio, but I’m limited to what is available in Audio Escape and sometimes Kindle Unlimited.
There wasn’t anything outstanding about the book, but there wasn’t anything bad about the book. It was a decent read to pass the time. ...more

Blindsides is a spin-off from the Harris series, but honestly it’s part of the Harris series, because all of the characters are in there! I hate it when authors do this. I truly wanted to start a new series with no background, but it was annoying getting introduced to other characters and see who they married and who had kids and how they are all friends.
Anyhow, that aside.
There were aspects of the book I liked and some I didn’t.
I liked the troupe. You had the cubby girl and the star football player (soccer for you Americans). I like the best-friends to lovers romance and I liked that it didn’t take long to get to the steam! Yay.
I did think the book was a touch too long and about 10-30% probably could have been edited out. Too many conversations with side characters and asking for opinions. Those is what I called filler chapters.
I did enjoy the banter between Mac and Freya and I liked that they fought like an old married couple.
I didn’t enjoy the last moment of angst because the characters always have to have a fall out in the end and oh how annoying that part is. Really? Do we really need this?
Overall, I think I would have enjoyed this book more in audio format because I tend to like light-hearted long books in audio. ...more

Got to love Kindle Unlimited for having audio books under the plan. I was hesitant to start this one only because the title sounded like the book would have a lot of angst. Which it didn’t. So good for me, but bad for you if that is what you wanted.
With that said the title is a little misleading and there is a “lie” in that book.
What’s not to like about a Hockey star not mentioning he’s famous? Yeah it’s a big lie right? The title aside, it was a really cute book. I didn’t catch up in the Puck series and this is 100% a spin-off from the Puck series since a lot of the previous characters on in them. It didn’t hinder my reading experience but at some point I was confused to who was who and who was married to who and who had babies with who.
I love to listen to light-hearted books with low angst, it’s my jam.
The female narrator Stella Bloom has read for other books I have listened to. She’s not my favorite narrator. I just find her voice too deep! She sounds older than the character she “plays” but her pace and acting is fine. I liked Jason Clarke’s voice. It was deep and he acted well.
I liked the famous hockey player pretending to be normal trope. If you are into damsel in distress then this is so your book. Lainey is a mess of a girl and needs the guy to save her all the time. Lainey was a mess and not in a good way but there has to be a storyline right?
Overall, a great book to leave on the background. ...more

I would call this a super smutty book, but it’s a fairly short book with an insta-love story with two teens.
The best part of the book is the sweetness of it all and how adorable the Hero was. Who doesn’t love the Hero going after the girl of his dreams and a down-to-earth Heroine.

I feel like my reading preferences have changed drastically since independently published authors were starting to trend.
What I once loved and enjoy isn’t cutting it for me anyone. I use to love these no-fuss, no-muss kind of reads, but right now I find them lacking, sub-par and poorly contrived.
I like Rachel Van Dyken. Some of her earlier works have been a massive favorite of mine, but for the life of me, I think I’m just not into these light books anymore, or maybe I found the Hero too much of a dick and the angst too much in the beginning.
The first 30% of the book is hard to listen to because Slade was a massive asshole. I mean, not redeemable whatsoever. He’s angst, his chip on the shoulder was really harsh considering he took it out on the Heroine, Mackenzie, when it was not her fault whatsoever.
I just couldn’t take it.
The overall premise is cute. She’s a virgin, she was jilted at the alter, He’s a famous soccer player and **GASP** she doesn’t know it.
But that wasn’t enough for me.
I liked the narrators though. CJ Bloom is a favorite of mine. She has a light voice and sounds very girly. Eric London did a pretty good job in the European accent and it didn’t annoy me at all. I did find his reading a bit too slow. I had to increase the reading speed to 1.25x speed. Thank goodness for that function.
Like I said, I’m not sure these books are for me anymore or maybe I need to be in the mood. Or this one had too much angst in the beginning. I dunno, but it was free on kindle unlimited so there you go. ...more

Well, The Risk was everything I expected in an Elle Kennedy read. It was adorably cute, funny, witty and addictive to read. I was a little nervous going into the second book since the first book had it’s issues, but I’m happy to report, all the kinks have been worked out and The Risk was a mega hit for me!
I have always been fascinated with Brenna. I usually am not fond of strong-out spoken girls (I know I’m crazy, but I love the damsel) her personality just worked through. I loved that she is the daughter of Briar’s hockey coach and she has a thing for one of the players at Harvard. Oh my gosh, couldn’t the storyline be any cuter?
What worked for me in this book was that Elle Kennedy went back to her roots. She focused on the main characters, she created an interesting storyline and awesome chemistry. It just simply worked for me.
I love and adore Jake. He has a good head on his shoulders and I love how he’s the team Captain and he’s just an all around good guy. The best part of the book is the banter between Jake and Brenna. I love that the Hero chases after the Heroine. I was sucked into their storyline.
I also liked reading the side characters in this one (I know I complained about this in the first book) but it’s all about balance and it’s balanced well. We get to know Mike Hollis a little better and his storyline is cute as well.
Overall, if you have been an Elle Kennedy fan and love the Off-Campus series, then you will love this one.

I’m a huge fan of Elle Kennedy, but I realized I haven’t read her books in awhile. The thing with this author is that I have high expectations since her Off-Campus series was so successful and well, just mega awesome.
I liked the Chase, but it wasn’t a favorite for me. I think the main problem for me in this book was chemistry and the flow.
This is the first book of the series and I get that the author needed to set up the world-building. You have to bring on a lot of of characters to sort of hook you into the series right? I think that is what was the main problem. I felt like a lot of the characters were forced upon me and it was very inorganic and it took away from the main attraction of the book, the main characters.
Fitz and Summer don’t really interact until 30% into the book. Yes they have a few scenes here and there, but the first one third of the book was spent world building, setting up the main characters, the side characters and everything else. To be honest, I wanted to stop reading a few times.
I’m glad I didn’t because it started to pick up towards the middle and that really launched the story for me. Summer and Fitz have this odd on and off again attraction for each other. I don’t know if they fit for each other, but I found them entertaining on their own.
Summer is a fashion major and comes from a rich family. She’s not a snob, but she sure fits into the pretty rich girl genre. She has ADHD and I’ll be honest. I don’t really get ADHD and it was hard for me to feel for the girl. She needs special treatment and she can’t write essays? I don’t get it.
Fitz plays hockey, has tattoo sleeves, likes to draw and he programs games. That was a mouthful. Oh and he also comes from a blue collar family. I found the Hero a little too unbelievable. I think the tattoos were not needed and he should have been an artist or a gamer, but not both. His problem is that he can’t talk about his feelings. Really Elle Kennedy? FEELINGS?
Like I said the main problem for me was the forceful storyline. The characters didn’t feel natural nor was the storyline. I also didn’t care for the love-triangle, it just isn’t my jam.
Towards the end of the book I felt like there was a little more drama and I got a little more interaction with the main characters and it was less focused on the side-characters and that’s when I started to enjoy the story. Plus it got steamy, FINALLY! There needed to be more steam in the beginning, but that’s me.
Overall, I finally liked the book after I finished it and I will go onto the next one. I just hope the storyline comes along better and there’s less interaction and lead up for the secondary characters.

A high three star read for me. I like a good sport book and this one has raving reviews. The last Amy Daws book I read was pretty cute. I will admit I started this book months ago and didn’t finish it. I thought maybe I wasn’t in the mood. Now that I am in the mood, I felt like it was okay. It wasn’t bad, but it was just okay.
The angst towards the second half of the book got to me and that’s where my rating dropped a little.
Camden is a football player (soccer player) and he’s your typical jock. He’s successful, a man whore and he doesn’t want a relationship. He messes up his knee after a game and the story starts from there.
I did want the book to be more about the game, but if you like a doctor / patient relationship type of read, this is more for you.
Indie is one of his doctors. I wanted to like Indie but I think I didn’t get a good read on her character. I liked that she is a virgin, really smart, but her issue is that she doesn’t do relationships. Even though the relationship she has with her best friend seems really normal.
I felt like Indie should have been more damaged to be so guarded. She bugged the heck out of me. No matter what Camden did, she pushed him away which in resulted in him getting defensive. It was whip lash reading it.
The steamy parts were good, not enough in my opinion, but I’m a dirty perv like that. I felt like the conversations between side characters where too much. I really didn’t need to read about inner monologues and the characters whine about the relationship. I did like the little bits of Tanner and Belle since they will be in the next book. Kind of wished they had more tension. But not the pull the hair out kind.

Wrecking Ball was crazy good! It took me by surprised and oh my goodness I couldn’t get enough of this book. It’s a good book when you read it slowly and savor every word because you never wanted to end.
I do have one gripe. I don’t believe the cover matched the book or the title. I get it, you have to make sales and nothing makes a better sale than a half naked guy, BUT I just don’t see how it fit the theme and tone of the book. Also that’s not the guy that’s in the book, BUT that’s just me and it’s okay I still loved the read.
Wrecking Ball is a slow burn novel (view spoiler)[they don’t have sex until the 85% mark (hide spoiler)] but the sexual tension was off the charts hot!
Calvin is in the NFL and he is taking care of his nephew for a few months. He needs a teacher and caretaker for his nephew.
I love Calvin. He’s such a brute. You don’t really understand him and that’s what I love. He’s a good guy, but he just doesn’t know how to show it.
Cam has been dealt with a bad hand of cards. She’s a widow and the world hates her. Her husband’s crime has followed her and she’s just trying to move past all of that. I really liked Cam’s story. I found it very unique and it just made you feel so bad for her.
Calvin hires Cam to take care of his nephew and that’s when all the fun begins! I love love love the tension between the two and that clearly makes the book so darn good. The book is so adorable, witty and I love the way Cam react towards Calvin.

I’m a fan of Muffy Newtown she’s the female narrator, if you don’t know, she’s Erin Mallon so if you are fan you won’t be disappointed. I will admit that Nathan Everett is not my favorite male narrator and I’m glad that his parts weren’t too long. He sounds WAY too old, like in his 40’s, but it didn’t hinder my reading experience.
This book is 100% funny and steamy. It has an odd sense of humor and if you don’t get it, well you are out of luck.
Violet Hall has a step-brother in the NHL, don’t worry it’s not that kind of book! He isn’t the romantic hero. But because Violet knows how guys act in NHL, she doesn’t want anything to do with them. I like Violet because I like it when the Hero chases after the girl, but sometimes Violet can push away a bit much. I mean if a guys gives you presents for weeks everyday, that means he likes you and she still acts hard to get. That was kind of odd.
I liked Alex. I found him sweet, endearing and his stalker way towards Violet was adorable in my opinion. I really did feel bad the way Violet would treat him at times, but the tension was overall mild and it didn’t get under my skin.
The book is hot and I really enjoyed it. You don’t write books this steamy but with good chemistry in a long time. Oh gosh, Violet’s fixation on Alex’s junk is over-the-top funny and really in your face. It’s the first time I read a book that was so fixated on junk. Again, just odd, but funny.

Mariana Zapata has the BEST AUDIO BOOKS EVER! I’m slowly making my way through all of the Marina Zapata books because they are addictive and oh so good. If you want a non-stop slow burn read then these books are for you.
Callie Dalton is one of my top favorite female narrators. I only wished she did more books because I have a feeling I’m going to run out. I LOVE her voice and she is one of the main reasons why I only do Marina Zapata books via audio. I love her voice transitions, her acting and her voice is so adorable. You could seriously listen to it all day (and sometimes I do).
The most popular book by Mariana Zapata is Kulti I think. I loved Kulti. I’m not a big sports fan and the fact the heroine is a female soccer player doesn’t really grab my attention, but the thing with Mariana Zapata books is that she can write about anything and it always sucks me in.
Sal is in a soccer team and her team is getting a new assistant coach. The new assistant coach is world famous retired soccer player Kulti.
I love the tension and chemistry between Sal and Kulti. It’s an enemies to friendship to lovers kind of romance and I simply love it! There’s a slight age gap and I think it only makes the book better.
Kulti isn’t known to be warm and fuzzy and so when he shows up to assist not everyone is happy for him to be there including himself.
I love how down to earth Sal is. She loves playing and plays hard, but she’s a typical girl with bills to pay and an awesome family that mostly supports her.
The best part about these books is the romance. It may not be in your face romance, but the subtle hints here and there is what I love so much about these reads.

This book was different in the sense the book is in the Heroine’s POV, however the male parts, the Hero, Lukov is told by male narrator Teddy Hamilton. At first it was kind of odd to hear a random voice chime in every once in awhile, but I started to love it and I love love love Teddy’s voice. I’m stalking his audio page. I love Callie Dalton and usually I don’t like the same narrator for the same author, but she has a way in the way she acts, speaks and voice, that I just LOVE LOVE LOVE. I’m probably going to listen to all of Marina Zapata books because of her.
What I love about Mariana Zapata books is that it’s a romance book but it’s a slow burn. I love that this one is enemies to friends to lovers romance.
Jasmine is hard-headed, stubborn, but she is oh so loved by her family. She might not be the best figure skater but she has the heart. If you were reading the book she might come off as a little strong, but as you do an audio read, the narrator really portrays Jasmine well and you simply will love her.
Ivan is the best male pair figure skater and he has the gold medals to prove it. He’s smart, rich and very very very talented.
To Jasmine surprise, Ivan wants her as his next partner for one year.
I love the relationship between Jasmine and Ivan. The banter is the best part of the book. They hate each other and they voice it, but they love the sport and they are willing to do everything it takes to win.
The tension between Jasmine and Ivan is addicting to read. I love how they learn a little bit about each other and it slowly changes the dynamics of the relationship.
The book is 100% amazing.

I’ll admit I have picked up several of her books and couldn’t finish them. Maybe I wasn’t in the right mood or I didn’t want that kind of angst so it wasn’t a surprise that it took me two or three tries before I could finish Jock Row.
Everyone loved Jock Row and so I told myself I would read it and finish it. The first part of the book, mainly the first 30% of the book was a struggle for me. I love a dialogue based book and so that wasn’t a problem, but the problem of Scarlett getting to know Rowdy was tough. I mean, I wasn’t gritting my teeth or anything, but like I said I put down the book several times.
Asking each other questions and getting to know each other is cute in theory, but to read pages and pages of that. I could have done without that part.
I think maybe it was my mood, but after a few weeks I picked it back up and everything changed. I finally thought that maybe Scarlett was kind of adorable and Rowdy was really sweet and Jock Row wouldn’t be angsty.
I didn’t understand Scarlett at first, but as I read more and the book picked up it got better. Scarlett is an odd ball. She wears a sweater to a house party where the other girls are dressed like hookers. She says odd things and prevents her friends from hooking up.
I didn’t like Rowdy either, at first. I mean, he kicks her out of the party and prevents her from going back in. Who does that? And I didn’t like how Scarlett came back the next week, in the hope to see him.
But as the weeks went by and they kept on running into each other, the book got cute. I liked that they were the main focus of the book. I liked there wasn’t too many of the characters talking to other characters. I liked the sexual tension and the slow build up. You better believe there’s a lot of build up.
To my surprise the book is sweet and very low on angst. I love a good low angst book.
SO… I’m glad I pushed myself to finish it. I actually found a cute book....more

There’s nothing like a simple sports book with low angst to get you through a rainy day. Bad Business is a standalone and is part of the Bad Boys of Sports series.
Stone is the new quarterback to the team. He’s not your typical Hero you read. He wanted to play for a new team and he plans on retiring after the season. I guess he’s just really mature and he’s ready to move on to something else. I was kind of surprised by Stone since I expected him to be full of himself, but I found him really sweet.
Savannah’s dad owns the football team and she also manages the PR. I’m not too sure she took the PR stuff seriously but she does run around the football boys a lot. She is serious about her job and she’s all about work. I felt like Savannah wasn’t very mature, but I have to remember she’s in her twenties and her Daddy owns the team so there you go. I like her attitude towards work, but she had a thing for Stone real bad. Meaning she wanted to get into his pants.
But not everything is that simple right?
There were some slow moving parts in the book and I felt like there was a lot talk between friends and the main characters on how to make choices, so I valued the interactions between Stone and Savannah. Also the steamy parts broke apart from all of the talks. I’m an action kind of girl, that’s just me.
I understood the issue and I knew Savannah had a job, but Stone is so sweet you couldn’t help but root for him. I also like it when the Hero chases after the Heroine.
Overall, it was a pleasant read and it won’t be the last from this author.
