When Chloe chose to keep her neighbor's dog instead of turning it over to a shelter, she thought she was doing a good thing. She and Theo had become attached to one another and her neighbor said had to give the dog up because her kids were moving her into an assisted living home that did not allow pets. Everything seems normal except that now Chloe and Theo have each other.
When odd things start happening at her neighbor's old house, Chloe does not connect it to herself until more strange things start happening. Her old boyfriend comes back, two of her new neighbors act strangely, and the hunk who moves into Betty's old house pays more attention to Chloe than she expects. Is his interest in her or is something more sinister going one. There is only one way to find out....more

I absolutely loved it.
As with all of Misty Evans books, the plot and characters are outstanding and the electricity between Jax and Ruby could singe your eyebrows! Beatrice and her "family" of ex-SEAL or retired SEAL consultants create a world that I wouldn't want to live in but I loving visiting.
Jax has been assigned to find an imprisoned CIA agent who has escaped. The man's ex-partner Ruby McKellen is his best place to start but Ruby still believes that her long time partner is innocent and isn't too happy with Jax who turned him in. With different objectives the two work together to locate the missing agent and maybe to prove him innocent. Nature and man seem to to block their every effort in their race to discover man and truth.

I enjoyed A strong and eclectic collection of romance ranging from sweet to hot. The subgenre range from pure romance to suspense to science fiction. I enjoyed most of the stories a great deal, loved a few and found a couple that just were not to my taste. That places this collection on the high side of the most of the ones I have read. There were several authors that drew me to the collection and they more than satisfied but I also found a few that I will be checking out more fully as soon as I have time.
Have a good read especially if it is still on sale, but it will be worth the price even when it goes up....more

Hart is a master in the new world of the contemporary cozy mystery. She starts with time honored formula and breathes contemporary life into her novels. Her characters are so real that I either hate them or want to hug them and they are as complex as her plots. MURDER AL DENTE: A great, fun novel! Andy returns to her small home town out of concern for her grandfather’s health. Once she arrives her world is turned upside down, first by a new guy she ran into, literally, then by the news that the family pasta shop may have to be sold, and finally by the murder of a man she detests. As a possible suspect, she feels she has to find the real killer and it doesn’t hurt that a certain newcomer with a hot accent joins forces with her in her investigation. MURDER A LA FLAMBE: I really had fun watching the shifting relationships, especially between Andy and Lizzie; one of these days those two might even become almost friends, maybe and maybe not. More layers of Malcolm’s previous relationship are revealed. I love that; I adore him; he is so right for Andy. We also get to see more of Kayla! The mystery was solid and while it did end up with what I call the “trip over the murderer moment” essential to cozy mysteries, there where hints but I sure didn't figure it out.
MURDER AL FRESCO: In the third of the Southern Pasta Shop books Andy's ex and his fiance have broken up and that is causing tension for everyone especially since his fiance is Malcolm's half-sister. Andy's father who has just come into her life has married her prime rival who is close to Andy's age and now he wants to be accepted as her father. But worst of all, Malcolm is acting strange and boy does he have a surprise for her! All these stresses whirling around her couldn't come at a worse time; her old boss has arrange for her town to be a last minute location change for a televised culinary competition in which she is competing. This is her chance to redeem her reputation as the Death Chef. Of course having one of the judges murdered isn't helping things....more

Lexi's newest case has her rethinking working on her own as a private investigator. The case she has taken on is so complex that she is taking the victim's word that she is being stalked; no one else believes it. Calling on all her resources, even her dad, Lexi is determined to prove that Juliet has a stalker who is so subtle and intelligent that even Juliet doubts her sanity some times. It turns out that she is not the only one interested in the case even though she is the only one who is trying to help Juliet; Solomon has been hired to determine is Juliet has violated laws covering illegal trading. My heart went out to Juliet and her fiancee because the situation seemed so impossible but I had faith that Lexi would find a way to get to the bottom of the problem....more

Suzanne Ferrell knows how to pull in the reader. I adored Daniel's attachment to Lexi and loved seeing Melissa get a chance at happiness. The young men at Weston House won my heart, too. There was plenty of suspense hanging over them throughout the book, but it was the characters once again that won the show for me....more

I was so excited to see that Janet was going to be part of this book. From the beginning of Aloha Express I really appreciated her kindness and friendship with Gabby. For once, I neither loved nor hated the victim or maybe I should say I felt a bit of both. I had no idea who the murderer was and suspected almost everyone. On the other hand, I was a bit disappointed that our heroine sometimes played the typical cozy heroine, dashing around asking obvious questions of suspects, putting herself in unnecessary danger! This careless investigation technique may be typical of most cozy mysteries, but it is not common in books by Sally J. Smith and Jean Steffens. The mystery itself was well laid out and plotted in the usual intriguing style that one expects of this awesome writing team. I was pleased to see that Harley is still hanging around, even if he is concerned about a big decision that Gabby has to make. The twins and their father are as awesome as ever! Love those guys! It was a great visit to the island and with old friends in spite of that little matter of murder..

While I enjoyed the plot greatly, one of the elements that most struck me was that we got to see the story from Rufe's view point as well as from Joe's. This twist gave much greater insight into Patrick's life as well as additional motives for his death. I have liked Rufe from the time he was introduced into Quick Pivot; he is a good character and he provides a good foil for Joe. The intensity, and pacing, of the story helped me feel as if I was truly part of the action. The call that someone has died at the rectory pulls newspaper writer Joe Gale into a much bigger story than the death of a man he admired. Father Patrick Doherty while well respected within the community as a whole has been placed in an unpopular position with the consolidation of area churches. Joe finds it hard to get a solid grip on either major story; what might have lead to the murder of a respected man and who is placing growingly dangerous bombs in the area.
