Tahlia and Delilah were so precious together and protective of one another in different ways. Delilah was chaos incarnate and lived in a permanent form of denial and Tahlia was the grounding and accepting force she needed in her life. Tahlia needed that same compassion back from Delilah. They had to deal with a lot of their own traumas and weren’t always the smartest about handling them. But their unconditional acceptance of one another made it all come together. The brat taming aspect was fun as well. Also, I need Calcifer to have his own book. Like, yesterday.

Noémie was the new lady in waiting to Erzsébet after being widowed and disgraced by an SA. She went on a journey throughout this book of self-discovery, which involved accepting her queerness and her darkest desires. The gothic setting and vicious world she existed in was as unforgiving as she eventually became. I appreciated the chronic illness rep from Erzsébet. The prose of the book was intense and engaging, even if some of the gore was a bit much for me. Dante is a very talented writer.

Minx and Calico have been such a fun addition to these stories and I loved that they got a happy ending. However, I felt like I didn’t get to know Lako at all in this book beyond her sexy time antics. She pops up in the previous books a bit more so we get to know some of her tendencies, such as an overwhelming curiosity. In this book we also see that she’s a bit of a champion of women, in a selfish god sort of way. I loved that this was a polyam sapphic romance because there are never enough of those in monster romance.

Onna was fierce, determined (I feel like there’s a theme in the type of women in these books or something), and vengeful when needed. I liked that they had a long history of push and pull.

I enjoyed the romcom vibes combined with some dark themes. What I didn’t love was that there was a lack of give and take in the relationship, at least, not on page. Roxy was selfish, but her man had to carry her through her commitmentphobia and he didn’t get much out of the relationship beyond less loneliness and physical intimacy. But it’s not like Roxy wasn’t willing to pull her weight in emotional intimacy by the end, we just don’t get to see a moment where she’s there for him.

This book was dark AF. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but the MCs had tragedy and betrayal heaped upon them to a horrifying degree. They had a rocky beginning to their relationship, but when they did come together, it was a beautiful thing. I enjoyed this book and the revenge vendettas were fascinating.

Melody was stuck in a terrible situation, living her morally gray life in a shabby apartment while being harassed by pretty much everyone. She was depressed AF and honestly kinda the perfect sort of character for a sentient object romance because she was so isolated and looking for any kind of connection. Jack, Mr in-the-box himself, was a terrible influence on her. I’m talking turning a little morally gray woman into a vigilante-esque serial killer. If you’re a fan of feminine rage, then this is probably the book for you. But if you have any triggers (not including cheating, cuz that doesn’t happen here), steer clear because it’s dark AF.

She had plenty of trauma, self image, and other issues to unpack as she went on her journey, but she did a pretty good job. There were 12 other MCs so buckle up! Ambrose was the best kitty and recovering alcoholic who, like all the others, had a penchant for keeping his cards close to the chest. Timyn is my true love with his bratty sassy way of getting people to get through their own issues and slowly figuring out he was multidimensional himself. Krysos was kind of what one would expect from a fae, with his vanity, but also dealt with some self-hatred—a not uncommon theme among the monsters. Julius was the grumpiest grump with a love of super primal play. Vann was the resident Norseman and tended to isolate himself, though not nearly as much as Chamenos. Zephyr was a lil bit bratty, but not nearly as bratty as Timyn. Although he liked to wreak havoc, he also liked to soothe when appropriate. Chamenos was the meekest of the lot and had the worst self image. He also was an absolute cinnamon roll. Philippos was cranky, though not as much as Julius, but rivaled him for the time required to jump aboard with any plans, due to his pessimism. NGL, Ladon, Orthros, Geryon, and Cerberus were all a bit of a question mark by the end of the book. They weren’t there long enough to make more of an impression beyond being generally supportive and having some similar traumas to the others. I think 12 MMCs was a bit ambitious and took away some time that could have been spent investing into the relationships between all the other characters. However, the smut was super fun and I still enjoyed the book and overarching plot that played around with Greek mythology,

She, Adam, and the rest of the pack had a really rough start. And middle. Adam was such a fun character, with his hatred of his designation and his love of being a con artist. Eve and Garrett helped him find his footing without losing himself entirely. Jamie is what dreams are made of. Seriously, can I get a carbon copy? He was so patient and compassionate but also stood his ground. Rory was Mr grumpy teddy bear and he and Eve had quite the volatile dynamic. Eve was allowed and encouraged to continue being her truest self, while learning to let others in. I thought by the end of the book the pack was very well balanced, and each of the main characters cared for each other, whether platonically or romantically.

This book was everything and I’m frankly having a hard time stopping to write this review because I need to know what happens! The story was engaging, the writing amazingly snarky, and the characters intense and varied in personalities. Jack was a super tall werewolf (but really she’s called a Rijitera) with loose morals, murderous tendencies, and a possessive streak. She was not a heroine to wait around for someone else to save the day, but took matters into her own claws. Ohem was fierce, violent, trusting, and tender, which made him a good match for Jack. He could mellow out some of her crazy, but never tried to stop her from being who she was. The feminine rage was everything. Also, everyone needs a murderous bestie like Patty the Prostitute.
