Un libro demasiado largo donde el ejercito de los cazahuesos deambula siguiendo a Tavore y echando unas filosofadas demasiado dramáticas. El libro tiene momentos brillantes, sobretodo la parte relacionada con la batalla en Kharkanas( lo mejor de este libro de largo, quiero leer esa trilogia) , cuando Peccado se pone en modo berserker quemando a todo dios o ese final tan bonito con algunos de los mejores personajes de la saga y sus reencuentros. Pero que alguien me explique porque Erikson se centra en personajes nuevos o que poco nos importan o aportan a estas alturas de la saga mientras que otros como Azafrán, Apsalar, Karsa Orlong, Ganoes Paran o los abrasapuentes aparecen en contadas páginas. La aparición de los dragones o eleint también es de chiste. No recuerdo un libro de fantasía donde la aparición de un dragón me haya importado menos, ya que estos en un mundo donde dioses o magos son la pera pues no suponen una gran amenaza. Lo mismo me pasa con los Tlan Imass que me parecen un coñazo a estas alturas. La batalla entre kchain chemalles y los forkul assail debería haber sido más especatacular pero se resuelve en un pis pas y tampoco es que acabe de entender porque los cazahuesos se meten en ese fregao. Que alguien me explique que pasa al final con la emperatriz Lasseen y la persecución de estos renegados porque no me queda claro que esto acabe aquí. Es como si se acabase un capítulo pero no llega el final del libro de los caidos, ni sabemos que haran Cotillion y el embozado a partir de ahora. Muchas preguntas por responder y un final apresurado tras páginas de rollo. Bajo mi punto de vista si Erikson hubiese unido este libro con el anterior lo hubiese bordado pero le pudo la ambición y se perdió contando cosas que expanden el universo pero le quitan miga a la historia. Veremos como continúa la cosa en sus subsagas pero debería concretar más. Pero bueno, este libro no me quita el buen sabor de boca de haber leído una de las sagas de fantasía más grandes que existe. Al menos si es la más larga que he leído y eso es porque ha mantenido mi interés hasta el final con personajes y momentos inolvidables. Los nigromantes Bauchelain y Korbal Broach vuelven a las andadas en estos tres relatos que para mi gusto son un pelín más flojos que los del primer libro.
Las serpientes de Blearmouth(****): Un naufragio lleva a nuestros héroes a las tierras de Fangatooth Claw, un mago tirano. Tienes un sepulturero no-muerto que nadie cree que esté realmente muerto, un recaudador de impuestos que se nombró a sí mismo y que honestamente cree que el dinero que recauda beneficia a todos, y una serie de otros personajes ridículos que trabajan para el tirano. Como siempre Bauchelain tratará de sacar provecho de la situación urdiendo un plan maestro. El mejor relato de los tres y el que calificaría como imprescindible si te gustan los personajes.
El sendero de la olla y el crujido(**): Un grupo de viajeros compuesto por guerreros, poetas y espadas juramentadas a la decencia dan caza a Bauchelain y Korbal. Los nigromantes no aparecen y los viajeros empiezan a pasar hambre así que deciden comerse a un poeta cada noche, el que cuente la peor historia. Flojo.
Los demonios de Nightmaria(***): Bauchelain ha conseguido erigirse rey de Farrog y ha encarcelado a buena parte de los bardos, artistas y poetas de la ciudad. El pais vecino, Nightmaria, está gobernado por demonios y estos le declaran la guerra. El despiporre de lucha y sangre está garantizado. Una historia con toques de humor donde aparecen algunos personajes que aparecian en el anterior cuento.
En general son unos relatos que se me han hecho largos y que pese a tener ideas interesantes quedan lejos de los del primer libro. Café para muy cafeteros....more
Hacía tiempo que no visitaba los mundos de Malaz y lo echaba de menos. Cuando leí la saga principal fueron dos años intensos en los que disfruté una dHacía tiempo que no visitaba los mundos de Malaz y lo echaba de menos. Cuando leí la saga principal fueron dos años intensos en los que disfruté una de las mejores sagas fantásticas que he podido degustar. La escritura de Erikson es genial y siempre me atrapa esa fenomenal mezcla de magia, antropología y grimd dark que elabora. El mundo de Malaz es gigantesco y es por eso que algunos personajes que dan para libros propios están siendo tratados a parte por el autor. Así ha pasado con Karsa orlong en la nueva trilogía o con Kellanved y Danzante en la serie de Esslemont.
En esta ocasión nos encontramos con las aventuras de Bauchelain y Korbal Espita, un par de nigromantes sin mucha moral que se meten en unos berenjenales de cuidado por allà donde pasan. Emancipor Reese es su criado, un hombre gafe como él solo que sufrirá viendo las barrabasadas de sus amos pero que poco podrá hacer. El tono de la serie es muy divertido y recuerda a Terry Pratchett y su mundo disco, eso sí, con un tono más gore o grimdark.
Las tres historias del tomo son las siguientes:
La sangre sigue(****): En este primer cuento se nos presentan los personajes y asistimos a una historia detectivesca. En la ciudad de Lamentable Moll, una serie de extraños asesinatos están siendo investigados por el sargento Guld. Todo parece indicar que están relacionados con un par de extraños forasteros que han llegado a la ciudad y que han tomado como criado a Emacipor Reese, el tipo con más mala suerte de la ciudad. Un cuento divertido, sobretodo por como Korbal Espita va juntando piezas de cadaveres para crear una especie de golem.
Los posos de Final de la risa(***): En este segundo cuento ya tenemos a nuestros 3 protagonistas que han huido de Lamentable Moll y viajan en el Suncurl, un barco con una tripulación de descastados que no saben que han acogido a bordo y que viaja a toda leche perseguido por unos tiburones gigantes. Las cosas se descontrolarán en el navío cuando algunas horribles criaturas empiecen a hacer de las suyas. Este segundo cuento aunque tiene más acción lo he visto más flojito ya que se convierte en una batalla muy loca donde el argumento pierde un poco en pos de la acción.
La muerte saludable(*****): La mejor historia con diferencia del tomo. Aquí Erikson aprovecha para ironizar sobre el estilo de vida super healthy y fitness que tan de boga esta hoy en día. Nuestros tres protagonistas llegan a una extraña ciudad donde un culto a la salud se ha convertido en el código que domina las vidas de la urbe. El rey obsesionado con ello prohíbe comer carne, el sexo,beber vino, fumar durhang e incluso a los bebés. Bauchelain junto a un pequeño demonio ideará un plan para restituir al antiguo rey muerto pero eso implicará resucitar a todos los muertos de la ciudad, muchos de ellos fallecidos a causa de una indigestión de hierba. Un relato totalmente delirante con el que te partes de risa y que analiza que parte de libertad queda en las cosas que se hacen por estilo, moda o seguir la corriente imperante.
El primer libro de Esslemont sobre Malaz me ha gustado mucho. Las diferencias con Eriksson son grandes porque ambos tienen un estilo muy diferente. Los libros de Eriksson son los que tienen la fama, esos tochos llenos de fantasía épica y filosofía con miles de tramas que se van enrevesando. Esslemont, por otra parte, opta por una trama sencilla con un par de personajes que llevan todo el peso del libro y eso después de los densos libros de la saga principal se agradece mucho. En este libro tenemos a dos buenos personajes: Temple,un veterano abrasapuentes retirado y Kiska, una adolescente que sueña con abandonar Malaz y vivir aventuras. Los dos se veran involucrados en una noche misteriosa en la isla de Malaz, donde parece que Kellanved y danzante van a enfrentarse por última vez con la emperatriz Laseen. El ver a estos personajes de la saga y aprender más sobre ellos me ha encantado. Taysrichenn,Dassem o Topper también tienen sus apariciones y la parte donde se recuerda la primera campaña en Ygathan me pareció soberbia. Lo dicho, un estilo diferente pero para nada inferior y con el que aprendes más sobre la historia de Malaz y otros hechos que no se acaban de explicar en la saga principal. Muchas tramas mezcladas pero tres para mi que son fundamentales y apasionantes: 1. La de nuestros queridos abrasapuentes que en esta ocasión se dirigen a enfrentarse a un enemigo formidable que puede significar su final. 2. La que tiene que ver con los origenes de los Tiste Andi y esa maravillosa ciudad muerta cuyo pasado tengo que conocer si o si en la trilogia propia que le ha dedicado Eriksson. 3. La de los Kchain chemalle y su destriant humana. Eran los que faltaban por aparacer en Malaz:dinosaurios con cuchillas. El problema de este libro es que las otras subtramas no llegan a este nivel y aunque contiene trozos maginificos con personajes tan grandes como Shurk Elaye,Icarium, Tehol y demás clásicos se corta el ritmo y hacen el libro larguísimo. Si Erikson hubiese metido tijera y hecho um libro de 700 páginas estaríamos hablando de un Memorias de hielo tranquilamente y de echo al principio pensaba que le cascaria tres estrellas a este libro porque es el más denso con diferencia(y si habeis llegado hasta aquí sabeis que los anteriores no son ligeros precisamente) Aún así esta saga significa mucho ya para mí y aunque no puedo esperar para ver el final, voy a leer primero los libros de Esslemont para enterarme mejor de algunas cosas que no aparecen en la saga principal y porque no quiero que esta saga termine nunca. Cuando lea El dios tullido será maravilloso y triste a la vez. No quiero despedirme de Apsalar,botella,violin,Ben el rápido,Hellian,Crepúsculo y todos los demás maravillosos personajes que pueblan estas páginas....more
Genial. No tengo otra manera de calificar lo que hace Eriksson con esta saga en cada libro. Durante la primera mitad del libro creía que este iba a serGenial. Durante la primera mitad del libro creía que este iba a ser el libro más flojo de la saga ya que tiene un tono melancólico y mucha filosofia pero a partir de la página 500 el espectáculo empezó de nuevo y todo lo que hace a esta saga algo fenomenal surgió como un torrente. "Doblan por los Mastines" nos devuelve al punto de partida, Darujhistan, y descubrimos que ha pasado durante todo este tiempo en esa ciudad con políticos corruptos y gremios de asesinos y ladrones. Nos reencontramos con personajes como Murillio y Kruppe, los Abrasapuentes supervivientes al asedio de Coral Negro (Mazo, Mezcla, Rapiña) que ahora regentan una taberna. Navaja vuelve a la ciudad donde se crió junto a Barathol Mekar( el primo de Kalam) y otros amigos que ha hecho durante sus viajes, y sus partes fueron muy emocionantes, sobretodo aquellas en las que recuerda a Apsalar y se pregunta donde estará. Por otra parte en este tomo asistimos también a la historia de los tiste andii( los elfos de Erikson, no hay otra manera de definirlos). Por una parte tenemos el viaje de Nimander y su grupo buscando retornar a casa guiados por Clip, que ahora está poseido por un dios que busca la caida de Anomander y Coral negro y que subyuga a sus acólitos mediante un brebaje de color negro que los hace volverse loco. Este viaje fue de lo que más me gusto del libro ya que se topan con el maléfico Kallor y aprender de la historia de los tiste andii estuvo muy bien, sobretodo la parte de dragnipur, la espada de Anomander, que contiene un infierno a donde vas a parar si te mata y donde estas tirando de un carro lleno de cuerpos por toda la eternidad. Karsa Orlong y Samar Dev también se dirigen hacia Darujhistan y se encontrarán a un misterioso personaje, Viajero, que al final del libro desvelará su identidad dejándonos de piedra. Las partes de humor no faltan con los trozos de Iskaral Pust, el loco sacerdote y su ejercito de monos y sobretodo en las partes de la compañia Trigalle, esos viajeros que vagan por las sendas mágicas cumpliendo encargos y con quien Rezongo, el avatar de Treach y Mappo, el trell que sigue buscando a Icarium vivirán situaciones peligrosas y descacharrantes. El final, con las muertes de algunos personajes importantes de la saga está repleto de acción y tiene el sabor clásico de Malaz, ese que te enamora en libros como "Memorias de hielo". ¿La parte mala? Es un libro larguísimo, mil ciento y pico páginas y reconozco que algunas tramas o personajes no son para nada importantes y se podrían haber obviado. Aunque algunas de esas historias como la del niño Harllo y esos momentos atrapado en las grietas de una montaña eran muy emocionantes. También creo que personajes como Karsa o Anomander no están muy aprovechados dentro de la saga y son contadas sus apariciones cuando darían para un libro entero. Pero bueno eso mismo ha hecho Erikson con la trilogia sobre Kharkanas o el libro que está escribiendo sobre Karsa. En este libro me ha vuelto a pasar esa sensación peculair de no estar enterándote de nada y comenzar a atar cabos a a mitad del libro, algo a lo que todo lector de Malaz está acostumbrado y la verdad es que me maravilla como el autor consigue eso en cada libro sin que te haga abandonar, no me ha pasado con ninguna otra saga y es bastante peculiar. Pero bueno ya nos aviso Erikson en el primer libro de su saga, va ser un camino difícil, nos acompañaras hasta el final?...more
