I'm a sucker for a historical romance with some paranormal thrown in and this one has that in spades.
Gisella is our fmc and she's headed to the new world as what was known as a Casket Girl. Sent off to be married to an unknown man, she finds herself in a world she was not truly prepared for but one she is definitely interested in. As she tries to adapt to her new life, she is drawn to the man who is her husband but she knows he is not like other men and she doesn't really care.
Sebastian...I won't say much here other than that he has a long history and as Gisella is trying to find her place, his past comes back to haunt them.
I thought Hush did a good job of tying the paranormal into a historical while also keeping the romance thread throughout. I also thought the secondary characters helped to keep the story moving forward and I'll be curious to see how Hush picks things up in a next book as it was alluded to at the end of this one. Overall, this was an enjoyable read and I will most likely pick up the next one.

To be fair, I've loved all of the books I've read by Sandy Williams so definitely encourage others to pick up her books. This one had the perfect amount of magic and sexual tension wrapped around a great mix of characters and a unique storyline.

Queen of Vampire Hearts by Jeanette Rose is a book I happened to stumble across and I’m glad I did as I enjoyed the story.
Phoebe has been on the run Queen of Vampire Hearts by Jeanette Rose is a book I happened to stumble across and I’m glad I did as I enjoyed the story.
Phoebe has been on the run because of a mistake she made, and it has taught her to live by a very strict set of rules. The first one being, trust no one. See, Phoebe is a witch and when she trusted her now ex-boyfriend with her family grimoires and he stole them, she was sentenced to death by the council. Unfortunately for them, Phoebe is pretty powerful, so she saved herself at the cost of the lives of many on the council and has been on the run ever since while she searches for her grimoires.
Lucien has been around a long time and as king of the vampires he has seen just about everything. When he is at a party and crosses paths with Phoebe, he is immediately drawn to her and we eventually come to find, she is his mate. While the attraction is definitely not one-sided, Phoebe has been burned before and she isn’t as quick to trust what fate has in store for her.
As Phoebe adjusts to life as Lucien’s queen, she is also still trying to figure out where her grimoires are and what happened to her parents. As the story unfolds, there’s a bit of a twist that makes her question everything she thought about her relationship with Lucien. Sorry, I can’t say much here as I don’t want to ruin the story.
If you are looking for a paranormal (vampires, witches, and wolves!) consider checking this one out. It has some steamy bits and the characters have solid chemistry. There’s also a bit of an interesting twist at the end that will have me watching out for the next book to see where the story goes from there.
