Started reading this and got to the introduction which had this line, " On the face of it, she was deeply socially conservative. The idea of votes for women, for example, completely disgusted her. But if you look at her actions rather than her words, she was in fact tearing up the rule book for how to be female."
That's a no from me.

Truly a terrible movie in almost every way imaginable, so I was obviously going to avoid the novelization.
A friend got this for me and I felt obligated to read at least some of it. There were some nice scenes (I liked Luke and Rey dancing) and some of the scenes I liked in the movie came across well here. Hard to have a decent book when the source material is so bad, though somehow the novelization made it even worse. It also made some characters come off as worse than they already did in the movie, like Rose....more

The first season of Reign is ridiculous and fun!) but I checked this out from the library and read the first page that had the background and knew that I wouldn't be able to accept the premise. On top of that there are some other things I know I won't enjoy and some people have said that it's a bland story.
The writing style felt so forced, like the author was trying too hard to mimic some of the well known epic fantasy writers like This WDNF at 50 pages.

The characters sounded the same, the women seem like they're going to be poorly written. I'd set this down and have to force myself to pick this up again and found myself avoiding reading by picking up other things.
