He knows everything about her,and uses it against her. He pushes her to accept what she is…..his slave. But even though Thalia knows there’s a reason her body reacts the way it does,she also knows she will NEVER be what he wants her to be! Because she knows she’ll never give up who she is,and what she deserves….her freedom. That strong will of hers gets her into trouble,though…. Because her Master’s partner is a sadistic bastard that doesn’t hesitate to show her the error in her thinking. She’s theirs to do with whatever they want,however they want. And she’s theirs to sell….to whoever pays the most. Because even though he was the one that managed to convince her owners Marcus and Anthony to hold the auction sooner than planned,he sounded like a man with a conscience. Even though he’d watched the footage of her being “trained”. Even though he got hard seeing it. Because this man planned to save her,to show her how beautiful her submission could be. And he started showing that from the moment he had her kneeling at his feet.
After that i decided to read the Kalen and James Flashback. Seeing a young James realizing he’d never be able to live his life the way he wanted to. Being on summer holiday from University with his friend Kalen. A Scot that lived a different life than he did,but was as close as a brother because he was the same as he,a Dominant. It gives more insight into the man that bought Thalia,and i’m grateful for the glimpse.
So,now i’m ready to hear what happens next in Striking a Balance. Where Thalia may be safe with James,and submission is not the problem….not really. Because the problem is that she’s stuck somehow. And even though James loves the way she submits so very beautifully,he can’t help,but worry. Because in the normal day world she’s not coping….at all. So,in the end,he asks Kalen for help. His sister Ailsa is a therapist working with him at Purgatory,a training house for those into the lifestyle. It’s there,in Scotland,,she has the breakthrough they both need,and it gives them hope for a happy future together…..the future they deserve so much after everything they’ve been through. But James has to return to London because of his work…. And what happens there,leaves me with a killer cliffhanger!

Plus,it made Thalia realize she loved James,and couldn’t live without him. She knew she had to wait until the deadline of them being together for 6 months to tell him,but she hoped he felt the same. Hearing he loved her too was the most wonderful news she could’ve gotten,and seeing what he’d done to make sure she was taken care of in any situation,made her appreciate him even more. Life seemed bright,the future ready to start. Meeting his family was the next step,and his sister Katherine was the first to meet her. After a tense introduction,they hit it off,and James and Thalia were invited to stay at Katherine’s for a while. And then disaster struck……or rather Marcus did. Only this time,Thalia had people to fight for,and even though she picked her battles,she didn’t surrender. Would James find her in time,and in what condition would she be?? Would their love give them the strenght they were going to need? After the last page,i needed a moment to catch my breath. Because how much can a person endure without breaking? It was understandable Thalia had scars,mentally and physically. Having James meant the world,but he needed help too….because he couldn’t do it alone. And it was so good to see they got the support they both needed!
Now all that’s left,is a wedding to plan….in Tying the Knot. And what a wedding it was…..everyone close to them was there. Getting dressed was chaos,but everything worked out in the end. James sneaked a special gift in to make her feel him during the ceremony. Kalen and Ailsa sneaked in her tablet so she could check up on the website she’d built with James containing a forum solely for the survivors of the Williams brothers,causing a panic when nobody could find her…. Their vows were beautiful,even if they both ended up improvising. The wedding speeches were….unique….and the party a total succes. The team that arrived at the rescue before James could,had a special gift…..one that ensured her safety even more so…. In short,it was the most wonderful wedding they could’ve gotten!
Only that branding….i know why,i know how,but the ceremony…..? It all took place just 3 days before the wedding,at Sean’s club,SW3. And even though James wasn’t keen on the idea when Thalia’d asked him months ago,he understood her reasons. So,unknown to her,he’d done his research. Nick and Analiese knew the perfect man for the job,David. And everyone that mattered,in the scene,was in on the plan…..except Thalia. The entire night was a surprise for her,one that would only go through if she was 100% sure.
All that’s left now,is the Christmas they spent at Purgatory…. With some very special gifts. Where James gives Thalia the very thing she’d dreamed about,and more. Where Thalia and Maggie get to play together. Where Kalen and James team up on a punishment for Thalia,and share her after. And when Thalia finds out that Maggie is pregnant.
This was a story that gave me all the feels,angst,agony,despair,hope,anger,and happiness. It showed me that even in her darkest moments,Thalia was meant to find someone that would give her the freedom to be the woman she as meant to be. To free the masochist within,of her own free will,to surrender her heart and soul to the only person that was worthy….her Master,James. He was the rock that stood by her through everything,that suffered with her,celebrated her recovery with her,and gave her the world through his love.

Just when i thought i had it all figured out,new information came to light,or something happened,to make me second guess everything. The story was so well built that it had me glued to the pages the entire time,giving me every emotion you can think of.
Mia was in a bad place,and with amnesia she didn’t have any idea who she was. Jenny was her only friend,helping her score money to feed her addiction. Until the day she asked the wrong man…..and she ended up having to taste a shipment of cocaine for some very bad men. If only that was it…..no,their boss decided to take her with him,back to his home in Russia. Because she intrigued him,and Sasha wanted to find out why. Detox was hell,but what came after was worse,far worse! Because the world Sasha lived in was a dark one,a violent one,and Mia needed to find a way out of there,fast! If only she knew where to…..but Sasha was already doing his research,peeling back the layers of who she was. The fragments of her returning memory were confusing and hurting her,but who could she trust enough to share them with? The only one that she could trust,who had been honest with her from the start,was the very same that hurt her,used and degraded her…..Sasha. The world he lived in was determined to get rid of her,though….because they all saw her as a threat. But all she wanted,was to feel safe,wanted and cared for,even if the person she turned to for that little bit of affection she needed so badly didn’t seem to care….

I love how both Sabella and Angelo were drawn to eachother. Even though it was a business arrangement,he liked what he saw in her,and wanted to get to know her better. Made promises he meant to keep. And she liked what she saw in him,too….even if her parents showed only contempt for him and his father. Keeping her contact with him a secret,is exactly what a 16 year old would do,even if she was a good girl. The guilt she felt after he betrayed her was relatable,too. Because by that time,they’d been messaging for a whole year,and he’d been sweet to her,interested in her daily life. And still he came back the next year,making her wonder…. With her father’s strange behaviour,and the discussion she heard between her parents,she couldn’t help,but want to find out what was going on,right?
The start of their story may have been sweet,but what followed most certainly was not. Following the steps Sabella and Angelo take made me weary of where they’d end up. Lovers,or enemies for life? Her father’s meddling,pushing her towards the best friend that feels like a brother,doesn’t work,because she’s already hooked on Angelo,even if she doesn’t want to be. When the masks come off,who will be the real villain in Angelo and Sabella’s story?? The dark angel claiming her firsts,or the businessman that looks down upon him?
Hate Like Honey is the second part of Sabella and Angelo’s story,and i was left worrying these two will never find a little peace,a little warmth,in eachother’s arms…. After his mother’s and twin sister’s murder,Angelo and his father go straight to the person that ordered the kill that was meant for them,Sabella’s father. Finding them in his office,standing over her father’s body,shocks her. But what happens after is stuff made of nightmares…. Because her father wasn’t the man she always thought he was. And the mess left in his wake isn’t something you can brush under the carpet. Not only that,Angelo’s father wants her dead,but dies himself from a heart attack. Leaving a devastated Angelo as head of the business. And once he gets his head back in the game,he comes for Sabella. To get what was promised to him all those years ago. No best friend will take her away from him. Even if it means he has to kill Colin for trying to marry her to keep her safe from him. Is that the worst that happened? No….their story only goes further downhill from there…..
I was hoping that Tears Like Acid could be the cure to my aching heart….right? I should’ve known that Charmaine wouldn’t give Angelo and Sabella what they needed just yet,though… Even though we get to see Angelo change his mind a few times,he’s still hurting too much to see the truth. He may act harsh and cruel towards Sabella,but still tries to make up for some of his actions. The conflicting emotions he has are slowly killing him,but he still can’t find it in himself to trust his wife. Even though he’s obsessed with her,he resents her at the same time for that obsession. Banishing her to the abandoned house on his property may seem like the perfect solution,but what’s the use if you can’t stay away…. Ok,she can’t get access to the information he’s sure she’s looking for in order to betray him,but that’s it. And why doesn’t he believe her when she insists she doesn’t want to betray him??? Why does he keep thinking she will,is that because of what her family did?? Asking her is useless as long as he doesn’t really listen to the answer,or look at her for what she really is….an innocent girl trying to adapt in a cruel world?
All Sabella wanted was a little peace,and someone to love her. What she got instead was a husband that hated her for what her family had done to his. And even though she hated what he’d done in return,she found she couldn’t hate the man. She díd hate the distance he created,and the fact that she couldn’t find a solution. So,instead she decided to pick her battles. He wanted her naked on her knees when he entered the house,he got it. He wanted her obedience without question,he got it. In return,she would find her own pieces of happiness,even if it was in the little things…. Going to the village was a step in that direction,and meeting people that slowly accepted her for who she was,felt good. As long as Angelo didn’t find out,she would be fine…. Until she found a little burglar,stealing her attempt at making a cake. That little girl turned out to be exactly what she needed….someone that loved her unconditionally!
If only Angelo didn’t do what he was so very good at….. Seeing how close Sabella and little Sophie had become in such a short time,he thought he’d found the solution to binding Sabella to him indefinitely. Yes,he’d admitted to himself how he really felt about his wife,but did he talk to her?? Did he even try to give them a chance to have the relationship they both needed so badly??
Sabella and Angelo’s story has been so heartbreaking until now,and i couldn’t stop thinking about what had happened so far. Fearing what still might lay ahead,i equally dreaded and needed Kisses Like Rain. But i knew one thing for sure….nothing was going to stop me from finding out if they got the HEA they deserved. Even though yes,it could get worse….. Even though it hurt even more….. Even though there were times i started to think the universe was working against a HEA for this tormented couple….. There was só much going on in this final book,good ánd bad,that my mind was spinning.
Every small step forward was hard earned,and still not enough. Both struggled with the feelings they had for eachother. Add in the children under Angelo’s care,with a very painful past of their own,and how to care for them,and the situation becomes that more difficult. Keeping them from Sabella hurts them,but his trust in her is still nihil….even though he finally admits his feelings for her…..to himself. She puts family and loved ones before everything else,but he doesn’t see that yet. Including her feelings for him…..in spite of everything. Until he’s forced to acknowledge the truth. But it might be too late…..with disastrous consequences.

Mortimer is worse…..and i hate him for the things he’s ordered Isolde to do. The fact that he groomed her from an early age,taking advantage of her vulnerability after her mother’s death,is despicable. The idea he wants,no orders,Isolde to kill Mark,the husband she loves,is devastating. I would love to see him suffer,and die a horrible death!!
The cliffhanger i’m left with is heartbreaking,but at the same time i want to have a little hope….. For these three tortured souls to find a way to deal with the entire mess,and be together after. To defeat their enemies and find trust,peace and love. Knowing i’m going to have to wait until March ‘25 is already driving me nuts,that’s for sure!!

Having finished the ARC,i can’t say that i did,though….but it’s hard to say how i dó feel. It did make me think,and that’s always a good thing in my book. It wasn’t all as straightforward as you’d think…. Yes,Tanner was a bully,and yes i hated him for a long time. Blackmailing Emrys into staying and putting up with his cruel behaviour was not something that made me like him. And Emrys really didn’t have any choice but to do what he demanded of her. She tried to,really she did,but he bulldozered right over her objections. He forced her to stop taking contraceptives because he wanted to breed her. He sabotaged the job she loved so much after she left. And everything he did,was done because he loved her,or so he said.
So,yes….it was a tough story to read. But at the same time,i couldn’t stop. Even though i hated him,and even though it hurt what he did. Because somewhere along the line,don’t ask me why or how,Emrys started to enjoy some of the things he did… Was that a matter of giving in,or even up? I don’t know….. What i do know,is that when he’d crossed the line,and saw her again after she’d left,his behaviour had somewhat softened. Not by much,but he did apologize,and that was something he’d never done. And that left me feeling conflicted…..because did he really deserve Emrys?...more

Amara’s mother took her away after the death of her father,and Ryder let her. Her brother,and his best friend,Grayson was killed a few years later,and if the loss of her father and her fiancé didn’t already destroy her,this did…. And then he buys the company she works at and forces her to come back with him. Where she finds out he’s engaged to her late brother’s fiancée….. Still,she doesn’t manage to resist him,in fact he gets her to give into him every time.
Then there’s the mystery of who killed her brother. It turns out Ryder and his brothers have been searching for the killer all these years,and think it had to be someone close. Only,the one person they suspect is their brother Lennox,who spends his time glaring at Ryder’s fiancée. Because it turns out they have feelings for eachother…..but he turned her down,and she then got engaged to the other man she loved,Grayson. With no evidence to suggest he’s the killer,they still keep him out of their investigations. All that while the father is obviously a much more likely candidate…..and his actions/words show it.
Anyway,there’s bullying Amara into opening up without giving her the truth of the situation. Ryder keeps telling her he’s keeping her,but what about his fiancée? She’s supposed to be strong,to stand up to him,but she fails every time. And then,finally,he reveals everything to her. After she goes public with her intentions of finding her brother’s killer.

Their initial reluctance,even though they were obviously meant for eachother,giving way to acceptance was a journey worth following on it’s own. What i got was a total mindf**k,one that comes with a long list of trigger warnings. Trust me when i warn you to read those before entering….. When you still think this is your kind of story,i hope you’ll enjoy the ride. I can safely say that, after catching my breath,i sure did! It’s not an easy story to read,but even within it’s darkest moments,there is still some light.

I know i’ve read Bitter Heat more than once,and yes,it already packed a PUNCH,but knowing where they are now? As in Bitter Secrets,we see flashbacks,and they show us how Jasmine fell for Roth. Did he really lure her in,was it all pre-meditated,or did he actually feel something? The determination to marry her,again,is that because he wants to punish her for leaving him the first time? Or does he,deep down,have feelings for her that he doesn’t know how to show? Because of how he grew up,or maybe because he lacks that thing called empathy? Jasmine’s father was the one that made him keep his distance,but now that he’s dead,there’s nothing stopping him from getting his revenge. How far is Roth willing to go for that? Knowing Jasmine has no other choice than to do what he wants in order to at least try and save her family from the worst is costing her already. How is she going to survive a whole year with him? And will he let her go after…..because we already know he doesn’t play fair.
Roth is a man that’s hard to love. His actions are brutal,and no isn’t in his vocabulary. But there has to be something,deep down,that made Jasmine love him,even if she hates him now. The connection is still there,but it’s a toxic one,and not healthy. Jasmine is a woman that’s easy to love. She loves her sisters,in spite of how she’s been treated by them. And she forgave her father,in spite of how coldhearted he was to her,even lived with him until he died. Don’t mistake her for a doormat,because she isn’t. She managed to get back up after Roth destroyed her the first time,and she lived the life she choose until he showed up again. She does her best to stay strong,to stand up to Roth,even if she feels it’s useless most of the time.
What secrets is he hiding? What did her father want to tell her in his letter? Will Jasmine ever find out,or will Roth really be ready to kill to prevent that from happening?
This story has all the feels,it had me crying,screaming,cursing and more. It haunts me,day and night,and it’s breaking my heart to know where Jasmine is right now. She tears your heart out with everything Jasmine is going through because of Roth. She has him stomp on it to make sure it breaks into a million pieces. And still she isn’t done….
Because,even though we see more of both,and there may be moments where you start to hope,Roth is still Roth. He takes what he wants,crushes Jasmine on an almost daily basis,and is still the ruthless man he was before. Yes,we see a little glimpse of his human side,and yes,he cán act kindly. But everything is done with an agenda,so does that include the kindness he sometimes shows Jasmine? Or is there more to him than we can see….
Jasmine has to survive the year she’s agreed to be married to Roth. Question is,how….because he still has the power to destroy her. She may have thought she’d grown stronger in these past 5 years,but he’s proving her wrong,time and time again. Everything he does is for a reason,is calculated,and he’s still 2 steps ahead of anything she thinks he might be capable of. He manipulates her over and over into doing what he wants,and she hates him for it. So,why does her body still crave his brand of fucking? You can’t call it making love,because that’s not what he does…. He drags her from country to country for his business deals,and it’s exhausting her. The only times she manages to have a little fun,is with her bodyguards and the friends she still seems to have…. He keeps pushing and pushing until she’s had enough. Leaving me with the cliffhanger from hell…..
All i can say is,that i hope Jasmine will survive her year with him. And i really hope Roth is going to get his act together before he loses her forever! And most of all,i hope to see book 3 before i lose my mind!!!...more
