She wasn't afraid to be herself, which included being a ranch hand and slinging a six-shooter! She impressed me with her ability to be herself and go after what she wanted. The guts it took to dress in disguise as a man to join a posse headed to find her sweetheart's killer was impressive to me. She was one tough woman with sharp shooting skills, a calm presence amidst a group of men, and a determination to rival any cowboy in the wild west. If you like romance and westerns, you will enjoy Rosie's story in Under the Stars! I received a copy of this book for free, all thoughts and opinions are my own....more

But I should have known I really wasn't sure what I would think of this western novel, it is such a different genre than what I am used to from Eden. But I should have known that Eden would work her writing magic and have me so caught up in the story of Paisley and Cade that I couldn't put it down! Paisley was one original character! A woman sheriff in a small western town! Wearing a dress and a gun! I could see it all in my mind and I loved the image! Then enters Cade into the picture! The well-known gun-slinging sheriff who always catches the criminals. Who would win the badge and title of the sheriff of Savage Wells?
The competition that ensued was so fun to watch unfold! I loved getting to know each candidate for sheriff and each and every member of the town. I felt like I knew the town and the people of Savage Wells by the time I was done reading the book. They had become dear friends that I didn't want to leave! Cade and Paisley were a dynamic duo in my mind! There were always sparks, verbal sparring and surprises with those two around! A wonderfully written story, I highly recommend The Sheriffs of Savage Wells! I received a copy of this book for free, all thoughts and opinions are my own....more

WhTexas Twilight is the second book in The McCutcheon Family Series. We get to meet Luke's brother John, the brother who went away to medical school. When the story begins, immediately the action and mystery follows! John finds himself in the middle of a stage coach robbery among fellow passengers Lily and Harriett. Showing bravery in the midst of a dangerous situation, John is the perfect hero for the story! I completely enjoyed the scenes where he used his medical knowledge, it was very interesting to read how they performed medicine back then. Charity makes an appearance and her character is easy to love! She is feisty, tenacious and full of spirit! There is never a dull moment when Charity is around! Texas Twilight is a very emotional read! The characters face adversity and hardships and through these circumstances we get to see how they handle it and if they can 'hang' in this new town! This fast-paced western romance is full of mystery and romance! The story is engaging, the setting is Texas, (you can't get much better than that for a western!) and the characters are good looking and intelligent! Bravo to Caroline Fyffe and I hope she is writing about another one of the McCutcheon family members soon! Maybe Dustin? Hint, hint!...more

It didn't take long at all for me to become engrossed in the story of Luke who in the middle of a rainstorm, finds a young boy along with her mother who is in labor! Faith is a young mother and she is hiding something, Luke is sure of it! Luke's character is completely intriguing; we find out that he has a different heritage from his brothers and finding out why is a complete surprise, yet a lovely way to round out the story. As a reader it was nice to read a book where both characters had something to learn about themselves. Montana Dawn is a good western full of cowboys, danger and a young woman who is hiding something from her past. I loved the romance along with the suspense and action! The best part of this book for me is the sense of family and belonging that Fyffe's novel embodies. The reader feels as though they are experiencing every event along with the characters. Her easy to read writing style will have the pages flying through this book that is sure to please!

Grace can't seem to make ends meet and takes up running a speakeasy to pay the bills. She meets a police officer one night and sparks fly between the two. Grace dates Paul even though she is a criminal in the law's eyes, unbeknownst to him. This novella is definitely true to the time period and also has great character development for a short story. I understood why each character chose the paths that they took, however, I was extremely frustrated with one of them! This short story carries you on an emotional journey as you follow Grace's story. It is a nice read, but didn't wow me. Three stars out of five.

Instead I found a story full of love for family and a young girl who is trying to figure out what she wants and what love really is. I enjoyed the overall theme of the story, but I had most of the plot figured out. I like some surprises, so that was a bit of a disappointment. However, I loved the relationship between Rachel and her mother and her father. They are a close-knit family who love each other deeply and I appreciated their bond with each other. I felt disappointed with the lack of character development with Elsie, a servant who came with the Hunter family when they moved. I felt that her character was developed on the surface.
In a western I definitely expect there to be fist fights and gun fights. The action is a great element to this genre of books. I wasn't expecting the descriptive violence from some of the altercations and fights in the book. It was more descriptive than I like to read. I also had questions that were unanswered when the book ended. I thought they may have been answered during the course of the book, but they weren't. Perhaps the author did not find them pertinent to the story, but I am still wondering. There are a little more than a handful of cuss words in the book. Overall, Red Rock is a nice read for those who like westerns with romance and a little mystery.
