This doesn’t follow a traditional plot, it's essentially just long form world-building, which is something I usually dislike... but it completely worked for me because I’m captivated by its theme. That being said, I can see why others might not feel as excited about it if they don’t share the same connection. If Studio Ghibli, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Tim Burton had a baby, this book would be it. It’s cozy, whimsical, and extremely creative. I absolutely loved it....more

Because you can only read this via audio, I had to rate this low because the over-acting and cringy dialogue were too much for me. If you could read this physically, it probably wouldn't be so bad. The overall idea was cute... but it just didn't really hit like a good romance does....more

Such a vivid, cozy setting and amazing characters. This is the perfect mix of It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey and Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez… two of my favorite romances. The only issues I had was the plot felt a little meandering at times, with very little conflict and a vague story arc. It’s also closed door… and I wanted a little bit of spice if I’m being honest. ...more

I'm not someone who needs spice in my books to enjoy them... and honestly, I often hate pointless spice that isn't necessary to the plot or character development. But some books need it, and this was one of them. These characters have a very complicated enemies-to-lovers type relationship. Think... Jude and Cardan from The Cruel Prince. They are SO resistant to their feelings for each other that you as the reader don't feel much for them. You don't feel the connection like you should. So, the spice adds a lot to their relationship growth because it's really the only time you get to see them actually connect in SOME way. So why would the author choose fade-to-black here? It was so fade-to-black I wasn't even sure if they even did it or not... and if it was even good. This book is about an incubus, it's an adult novel, AND the verbiage they used in other parts of the book was not PG... so why? We got NOTHING... like, less than you would get in a YA novel.
I'm going to read the last book because these books are short and I'm invested enough to keep reading. but if I don't get SOMETHING with this couple, I'll be pissed....more

Much of modern poetry feels clichéd and repetitive, often focusing on the same themes over and over again. But this collection was different, with each poem exploring unique subjects. It was deeply self-reflective and introspective, which is what I tend to prefer in poetry. As a romantic, you'd think I would love poetry about love and relationships... but it's quite the opposite. I find it boring and predictable. I save romance novels for that. I want poetry about LITERALLY anything else....more

I struggled to connect with the plot, the characters, and even the setting, which is supposed to be the story's key element. Everything felt confusing and surreal, which might have been intentional, but I ended up feeling more lost than engaged by the end....more

I need an ah-ha moment... or some sort of underlying metaphor to hold onto to give me a reason for reading it. This didn't have that. I don't understand what the author was trying to do here, because this book doesn't have much of a plot. I was going between 2 and 3 stars... but the reason I gave it 2 is because if I had read this physically, I probably would have had a harder time getting through it....more
