How Not to Fall in Love is a companion novella to Love, Hate, and Other Lies We Told and it follows the story of Navy’s best friend, Katya. I actually loved Katya’s story more than Navy’s and I especially enjoyed the romance between Katya and Spencer.
Katya and Spencer are both commitment-phobes but when the two hook up and develop feelings for each other, they’re unable to escape the other because they’re neighbours in the same apartment building. I really loved how the two characters interacted and how their romance developed throughout the novella. It was really interesting to see the different qualities that they brought out in each other and I just loved Katya and Spencer so much! I especially enjoyed Spencer’s baking abilities and if I had a neighbour who baked chocolate chip cookies 24/7, I’d marry him on the spot haha.
The novella was short and sweet and I finished it in one sitting. My copy of the novella also included recipes for the chocolate chip cookies and dirty brownies and I’m definitely going to be trying them out soon, even though I’m not really much of a baker. I’d definitely recommend picking up this companion novella along with Love, Hate, and Other Lies We Told… or even just on its own because it was a super fun and romantic read....more

This is probably one of my most beautiful books I own. There are stunning illustrations on every page, including a whole bunch of double-page illustrations. There's beautiful silver accents on every page and it's just the prettiest thing I've seen in a long, long time. I also love the cut out in the cover of this edition!
The story in this book was extremely quick to read and I found it very engaging. The setting of the book worked extremely well and I enjoyed the Norse mythology that was incorporated into the book. It was just a heartwarming and nice story to read if you're looking for something to short that you can read and appreciate in one sitting....more

Iron to Iron is a novella, written from Luka Lowe's perspective. It follows his journey across the world during the 1955 motocross race. This novella answers some of the questions surrounding Luka and Adele's relationship and what happened during the race the year before the one that was held in Wolf by Wolf.
If you enjoyed Wolf by Wolf, you will definitely want to read this novella. Just like Wolf by Wolf, Iron to Iron was exciting and action-packed. It was interesting to read about the race from Luka's perspective and I learnt a lot more about him. The only criticism I have is that the ending of the race was a little bit underwhelming for me. I expected something a bit more shocking because of all the build up from Wolf by Wolf and from this novella. But overall, I really enjoyed this one and cannot wait for the sequel to come out!...more

I enjoyedThis was a short holiday-themed novella with a great second chance romance. It was cute and sweet and had two characters that were likeable. I enjoyed the romance between the two and it gave me the warm and fuzzies. Because the characters were in a relationship previously, the romance never came across as too sudden or insta-lovey. However, I did think that the story was resolved a bit too quickly with one character realising their undying love for the other and changing their whole life philosophy. But as a novella, I was pretty satisfied with it and I finished it feeling all warm inside....more
This was a delightful and enchanting story, accompanied by beautiful illustrations. It was a wonderful retelling of Sleeping Beauty and Snow 4.5 stars
This was a delightful and enchanting story, accompanied by beautiful illustrations. It was a wonderful retelling of Sleeping Beauty and Snow White, with a brilliant twist. I’d highly recommend this to anyone who can read and I think children in particular would really love this book. I thought the illustrations really brought the story to life and added a lot to the creepy and dark atmosphere of it.
I love how The Sleeper and the Spindle challenges the gender stereotypes that we have. We have Snow White (except she’s only known as ‘The Queen’ in the book) who is about to be married to her prince but thinks it’s the beginning of the end of her life. She decides instead to go off and be a warrior and a hero, highlighting that women aren’t weak and we don’t need a prince or a man to save us. Or to kiss us.
I wouldn’t really consider this to be an LGBT retelling. There’s really no romance at all in the book. I know a lot of people were disappointed that it wasn’t a proper LGBT book but I’m thoroughly satisfied with everything we got. It had an epic plot and some very likeable main characters. I couldn’t ask for anything more.
This was my very first Neil Gaiman book but I definitely need to pick up more titles by him. His writing was so beautiful!...more

The Assassin’s Blade is a bind-up of 5 prequel novellas that were released in electronic format prior to the release of Throne of Glass. These novellas take place before the events in Throne of Glass and give a lot of great background on Celaena’s past.
All five of the novellas in The Assassin’s Blade were great. I probably enjoyed it more than I enjoyed Throne of Glass. I rated each of the novellas 4-5 out of 5 stars. The Assassin and the Desert was my favourite of the 5 novellas, but I thought every one of them were enjoyable. I loved a lot of the characters in the book and I thought the stories were great. We also get to see different sides of Celaena that I don’t think we get to see in Throne of Glass. She’s strong and fierce but also tender and has a really good heart. It was great to be able to see more of her. My favourite character in these novellas was definitely Sam. Why bother with Dorian and Chaol when you have Sam? Sam and Celaena’s relationship was adorable and just… the best.
What I probably liked best about the book is the format. Even though The Assassin’s Blade is a bind-up, these novellas read more like a novel. They appear chronologically in the book and each novella follows on from the previous one so smoothly. There is a little bit of a lapse in time between novellas but it almost reads as if the story has just continued where it left off. I think it is worthwhile to get The Assassin’s Blade rather than each novella separately, and I’d definitely recommend reading them in the order they appear in the book....more
I'm really glad that this novella was released because This is What Happy Looks Like ended in such an open-ended way. I was hoping that this novella I'm really glad that this novella was released because This is What Happy Looks Like ended in such an open-ended way. I was hoping that this novella would answer some questions that I had and would end in a less ambiguous way. I'm not sure that it quite did that. However, I'm just happy to have more Ellie and Graham cuteness so I can't complain. (Plus Wilbur in a lobster bowtie...my life is complete)....more
This was a fabulous ending to Allyson and Willem's story but I really really really really wish it was longer!! I just don't want their story to end. This was a fabulous ending to Allyson and Willem's story but I really really really really wish it was longer!! I just don't want their story to end. I want to see what happens when they're together in the US and I want to see Willem meet Dee. I really loved that all of Willem's friends and all the people Allyson met in Europe gathered together. It connected Just One Day and Just One Year together so brilliantly.
Most of all I loved how natural Allyson and Willem were together, even after a whole year apart.. and even though they were practically strangers. It was also really great to see Allyson being more bold and it was nice to see the change that's occurred in her.
I've read quite a few reviews complaining about the switch to third person but I didn't mind it at all. I thought the writing was lovely as Gayle Forman's books always are. I can't wait to read more of Gayle Forman's books!...more
