To me, there's something magical about books set in Cornwall. The ones I've read, anyway.

Con Riley took me to Cornwall, introduced me to the people, showed me around, all while entertaining me with the lovely relationships among the characters, especially the two men whose romance enchanted me. Their love drives this story and the sex comes out of their emotions, so it's not smut - not that there's anything wrong with smut, but it wouldn't have fit this book.
I'll be putting this book on my re-read shelf because I want to go back right now and experience the sights, sounds , and feelings all over again. ...more

There's plenty of push and pull, and even though the first part of the story spans only 10 days, it feels like longer - in a good way - so it feels like a slow burn romance even though it actually is not slow at all. Fans of the author's suspense novels, which are adrenaline-filled sprints, may be uncomfortable with the pacing but I'm a fan of building anticipation.
The descriptions of the food made me hungry, they're so vivid, and Layla's way of describing the setting made me feel like I was right there. Whether the Tetons, NOLA, or Martha's Vineyard, she creates the space.
There's not a lot of sex in this book, but considering one MC is terminally ill - never mind that he's stubbornly refusing treatment - and the two men just met, I appreciated that they weren't going at it like horny teenagers. If I want erotica, I'll read erotica, I don't need sex for sex's sake in my romance.
I was warned I'd need tissues and when I made it to 80% dry-eyed I thought I would skate through, but no, I sobbed quietly through the rest of the book, which is now firmly on my re-read list.
I highly recommend Dine With Me! *I received an arc of this book.*...more
