This was a story I got pulled into right from the start. It's got just the right amount of mythology and folklore, along with action, mystery and roma This was a story I got pulled into right from the start. It's got just the right amount of mythology and folklore, along with action, mystery and romance to round it out.

The demon war is an interesting background for the story, especially as who the leaders are for each side of the fighting. Greydon, the crown prince of Oshivana, saves Aimee from the demon who assassinated his parents a year earlier. Unfortunately, he is injured in the process and Aimee is the only one around who can help him. And that is her true introduction to all things otherworldly. It also helps that both Grey and Aimee have an insane attraction to each other, even if they don't want to admit it.

There were a couple of surprises in this story (the strange, prison-like facility, the alternate name of Oshivana, Aimee's background), but for the most part it's an entertaining story that seemed to end rather abruptly. I'm hoping it won't be long before the next book is out because I really would like to know what's going to happen next, and I'm also hoping that we get a story about Bethany and Fang, because I like them as a couple.

This installment in the LOTU series had a lot of action going on, and some of the content was a lot darker and more intense than in the previous books This installment in the LOTU series had a lot of action going on, and some of the content was a lot darker and more intense than in the previous books.

I wasn't sure how I would like Sabin, but he ended up being one of my favorites so far; maybe because he's tried to have relationships in the past, that somehow made him seem more realistic (in the whole fictional heavenly warrior now housing a demon kind of way).

I didn't have a problem with Gwen so much, she understood what happens when she's pushed too far and tries to do what she can so that her dark side doesn't come out. She even managed to make it learning how to better fight and protect herself.

Both Sabin and Gwen are a good fit for each other, since he can talk her down from her Harpy rages and her Harpy scares his demon to the point of quietness.

The rest of the LOTU and their crew have their turns in the book; Ashlyn and Danika (although we didn't hear much from Maddox and Reyes in this story), Anya (always hilarious, but not as outrageous), William (our favorite lovable vampire), and we get to meet Gwen's sisters. One big shocker (at least to me) was learning the identity of Gwen's father.

I thought the beginning chapter was intense, learning about what happened in the hidden chamber in the pyramid, but the Chicago trip was definitely the stuff of nightmares, especially Gideon. I was happy that Sabin finally got his head together and accepted Gwen as wanting to fight alongside the LOTU, and while I didn't agree with his decision to let Gwen decide what to do about Galen, I understand why (view spoiler)[(cause how could the storyling continue if Galen is captured?) (hide spoiler)]

Another solid book in the series. Can't wait to read the next one. ...more

I'm only three books into the series, but this was my favorite so far. Reyes has thought of nothing but Danika since they met months ago (under circum I'm only three books into the series, but this was my favorite so far. Reyes has thought of nothing but Danika since they met months ago (under circumstances no one wants to be in), and Danika, while hating the warriors for forcing her family to in into hiding, can't stop thinking about Reyes. After a murder and being captured by Hunters, Danika agrees to infiltrate the fortress and learn what she can about the warriors' and their plans to find the artifacts. All Danika wants to know is what happened to her mother, sister and grandmother.

While in Buda she gets the chance to confront Aeron about her family but doesn't get the news she wants to hear. Certain revelations come to light about the second artifact, forcing an escape, which in turn leads to a reunion. The first of two big shockers (at least to me), was learning who the leader of the Hunters is; the second shocker was the decision Paris ended up making.

A good ending, a lot better than Lucien and Anya's ending. I can't wait to get to Aeron's, Paris' and Torin's stories. ...more

My first time reading this author and I felt the story was entertaining. It's a different twist on the supernatural, with former warriors having been bound and cursed with demons, all because of Pandora and the infamous box.

Maddox (who's paired up with the demon of violence), didn't really do much for me. But I would guess it's hard to come across nice when one is driven past the point of rage, and who has to die every night at midnight. I did feel sympathy for Ashlyn, who unfortunately is able to hear every conversation that has ever taken place wherever she happens to be on the globe. I mean hell, I tune out present conversations at times, no telling how insane I'd be if I had to endure hearing EVERY conversation, from any time period, no matter how long ago a conversation occurred. I just wish it was explained exactly how/why that happened to her.

Throw in Hunters (mortal men who are intent on finding the box and putting the demons back inside), and Bait (women who are supposed to set up the warriors), and you've got an interesting mix; especially once it's revealed who one of the Hunters is.

Not a bad start to the series, although the ending was somewhat predictable. I plan on reading the series, especially since I can't wait to get to Aeron's and Torin's books. ...more

I enjoyed this book in the series more so than the first; Anya, the goddess of Anarchy reminds me of an annoying but fiercely loyal younger sister; sh I enjoyed this book in the series more so than the first; Anya, the goddess of Anarchy reminds me of an annoying but fiercely loyal younger sister; she would needle and pick with you until you're ready to string her by her toes (sidenote: what is with Anya not wanting to look at her feet?), but she will fight to the death if need be.

So she's all hot and bothered for Lucien, the keeper of the demon of Death. Lucien is all ginormous and stoic and scarred, but that just turns her on more. Of course Anya herself has been cursed, by the scorned wife of her father. Not to mention she's being hunted by Cronus, the d-bag king of the gods. Meanwhile, the LOTU are on the hunt to find 4 artifacts as well as Pandora's box.

This installment had plenty of action, but the last 5 chapters had too many different side stories going on: Paris and Sienna's story (and we have to wait until book 9 for their story?); Aeron, Reyes and Danika; and William (who is a vampire with his own circumstances).

The ending felt rushed; instead of cluttering up the book with the side stories, more attention could have been devoted to the results of the whole All-Key possession. Overall a good story, but there was room for improvement with the ending. ...more

Good story to wrap up the series, but I thought the proposal felt forced, if only to have tension between Petra, Marc and Galen. Petra and Galen have enough tension without adding to it. But it all worked out for Marc in the end. I thought the baby shower was hilarious. In the first two books in the series, there was drama and anticipation with the war going on. This book really didn't have that much in the way of the war, simply because there had been a truce for a while, so it seemed that the war was an afterthought. The ending was kinda blah, the dragons, the portals and Medusa's baby (not wanting to give a lot of spoilers here). Overall an entertaining series. ...more
