Parker has created a world of shine and myth in her series, and I like the angle she's taking by having each book be about a different character. Don't get me wrong, sometimes I'm not done with a character, but this story isn't about a specific character's plight, it's about a whole town's plight, so this branching out is appropriate. I hope there is a book about Abby, and I wouldn't mind seeing more of the other characters as well.

After a couple of unfortunate events, Poppy starts to think there is something more to this town of hers, besides the god awful mix of scents in the air. The rest is a story of mystery, magic, and... well wax.
I really liked Poppy and her connection with Dud. The story had a cute interesting twist that has it's connections to a celebrity of sorts. If you are looking for a funny, dark, and twisted tale this would be the one!

Dillion is not okay not once did I think that his behavior abruptly changed, especially when Emma's old friends accuse her of cutting them out of her life. I didn't like many things that played out, but how are you supposed to like dating violence? Also, wtf was up with that guys mom. All she's ever heard about was the curse of the Milbourn women-who have led extraordinary lives and have died tragically young. Then out of the blue her mother returns (15 years later) with 2 children in tow. Ivy needs to navigate through her grandfather's expectations, living with the woman who abandoned her, and falling in love without losing her friend.

My only qualm with I liked this book much more than the first book, maybe it was the fact that it was an adventure/traveling story for the most part. My only qualm with this book is that there was no love triangle... does that make me a bad person? I really liked Asher, and completely understood why he did what he did, misinformed and misguided as it was; however, everyone is all about Kadesh... um he lied for like 2 books for NO reason at all. Actually he had a reason, a dumb reason, but it's cool because he said I love you, and now lets fight my betroth, who apparently is CRAY CRAY, and let's fight Horem because he too is CRAY CRAY. WTF... But I liked Asher, and I liked when Jayden was pretty much alone or with Asher, she seemed stronger, more herself. I am not delusional enough to imagine anything with transpire between the two, but when she's with Kadesh she's more dependent and less like the girl who faced the wrath of her betroth and the desert to find the man she loved, who she thought was dead....more

Sure there wasn't a love triangle in the movie, but there wasn't a secret as big as Chace's either. I loved seeing the back and forth between Lana's perspective and Nicole's, mixed with a little bit of dead Chace. The mystery was built well and it was thrilling, especially towards the end. A mystery worth reading, because I bet you can't guess :-)

Books on this subject are usually written in a linear manner, where this book does go linearly it also includes different characters' perspective on Anna and what was going on in her life.

YASSS!!!!
This book had pretty much everything I ever want. There was adventure, deception, revenge, love, crazy time traveling, and DIVERSITY (not just an old wooden ship... if y'all are wondering). This was not love at first site. I was confused, annoyed by Etta's 2-demenisonal problems, and not sure if this was the book for me; however, this is Alexandra Bracken, guys, she's amazing and I have learned to trust her, even when she tears your heart out and ends on a cliffhanger. So I stuck it out and about 15% in I started to really like Nick and I was completely intrigued with time traveling and the fact that this poor guy is stuck in a time where slavery was okay. Then Etta really joined in and started to be more 3-demensional.
I know this story is about time traveling, and Bracken is good. She makes a routinely used concept in YA refreshing and challenging. Her world building is always great so this is just an extension of her talent (and probably a lot of research to determine how her story would be shared). As much as that is an important part of the book, and I loved it, it's the love story I can't resist. Her characters are always the characters you want to root for in the end. I still can't get over her characters in The Darkest Minds trilogy, and that is why I fell so madly in love with this new series.
I cannot wait to find out how Nick will rescue the day, how he will get his revenge, and frankly who else might "pop" out of timelines.

Julia is a normal person who made an extraordinary choice, one that almost cost her but didn't. She has to live with that everyday, but most importantly she has to live with the fact that she can barely remember what happened. As she pieces the story together, she realizes that there are something she never really knew about those that she cared about, and the devil is in the details that she can barely recall.

1. As if I never read Wuthering Heights (and possibly liked the story the way it is): This was uniqueWell I will have to review this book in two ways:
1. As if I never read Wuthering Heights (and possibly liked the story the way it is): This was unique, in the sense of finishing a story that has already been written and read. Since I didn't have a link to the original novel, it wasn't so bad to connect with these characters and soon I became really interested in Nelly's life. I liked the way she saw things clearly, of course years later, and she seemed pretty reliable.
2. As if I read Wuthering Heights (because I did, and while I dispute the fact that it is a love story [it's not, and if you believe it is, I feel sorry for your concept of what love is supposed to be like between human being-romantic or platonic], I still really like this story.) Wuthering Heights is a dark, cold, gloomy tale of desperation, revenge, and unrequited love due to social conventions. Nelly Dean is an unreliable narrator! That's her deal. It's always been her deal, so my only problem with this whole book, is: Does this make her a reliable narrator? Don't get me wrong, I really loved the back story and the insight on Hindley but I found a part of my mind constantly upset at things that did not ring true to the original story.
So I think that's the crux of my problems. If I hadn't read the original story I might have just liked this story for what it was, but since I did in fact read the story it is closely based on... it's hard for me to completely love it.

I know it was supposed to span through different experiences the person went through but it was unglued and basically made each moment not deep enough. There were themes and lessons made that resonate true for the experience of those who are at the heavy spectrum in weight, I should know, but again it didn't feel... genuine... maybe that's the word.

First off, that was amazing and that ending was so choppy but it made me laugh and want to cry all the same, because "Life is Funny" like that. Being able to see where these characters come from and eventually go through what they go through was great. I felt that each character received the amount of time they deserved, and I wasn't even mad when the book/story made you move on.

Ivo is complicated, his life has fallen apart, and he's alone and dying. What this story holds is all of his shattered pieces, and he will only look at he wants to or can at the time. While there were moments that logic wanted to focus on holes, I found the story fast paced and interesting. I wanted to know more about the father, the mother, and what would end up happening at the end. The end left me kind of confused, why reintroduce the boyfriend, why continue on the story and not let readers imagine what happened in the aftermath... also, I don't think she cleaned up her prints nearly enough that she can be the next Dexter...
