I liked the idea of this book and how everyone seems to think this is the best thing ever. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed this a lot, but I had some problems with it, like the weird dialogues, the plethora of characters that has the same voice, so I mixed them up all the time, the not explaining of the paranormal stuff, the spelling of ‘magick’.. that one really bothered me.

This was a slow moving mystery that alternates between 1950 and 2014, following the lives of a couple of schoolgirls in the past and a journalist in the present whose sister’s body had been found at the school grounds.
The Broken Girls was quite different from what I was expecting. I just wanted to read a scary ghost story, I didn’t know my heart would be broken by the end. This was not as scary as I thought it was going to be, but the paranormal element added to the story and I really liked the execution. I was not bored for a second, the pacing was great, both of the timelines intriguing, the characters likeable and the ghost frightening at parts. I would recommend it!
