A fascinating book about 50 terrifyingly dark Yuletide stories from around the world. This book is great for those who love history and folklore about different cultures in celebrating the season of Christmas, this book tells twisted stories of darker elements of the season with all kinds of monsters witches, werewolves, ghosts and naughty children being punished severely. This book was an intriguing read definitely not the have a merry little Christmas rather more have a scary little Christmas. It was great about reading the different kinds of monsters lurking in the dark and not all were supernatural creatures some were human. I enjoyed reading this book, some of my favourite stories were. St Nicholas and the butchered children- Turkey- Three children were killed by a butcher but were resurrected by st Nicholas, the butcher was forced to become his helper to atone for his sins. Krampus- Bavaria, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia and northern Italy- A demon who kidnaps naughty children and drags them away to preform terrible tortures. Frau perchta- Austria and Bavaria- A hag like crone who like hitting those who offended her. Straggele- Austria and Germany- A hideous witch like creature that eats misbehaving children especially those who haven’t completed their chores. The original nutcracker- Germany- author Ernest Theodor Wilhelm Hoffman wrote a story about a girl named Maria who was unhappy in her strict life dream of nutcracker coming to life and her wish was granted. Victorian Christmas ghost stories- England- one of the most popular stories is a Christmas carol by Charles dickens. Gryla- Iceland- An ogress who dressed as a beggar tricked parents into handing over their badly behaved children and she ate them. Jolakotturinn- Iceland- a giant cat that on Christmas night would peer into children’s bedrooms and those who didn’t have new clothes were deemed naughty and fed on. The tompte- Scandinaviar- an elf like being much like a gnome lived in farming areas and would bestow fortune on the home owners who were kind enough to leave him a bowl of porridge with butter those who didn’t were punished with failing crops, farm animal deaths. Winter werewolves- pan European-men transforming into werewolves and bloodthirsty rampaging. Germany, Italy and Romania believes if you were born at the stroke of midnight on Christmas Day you had a greater risk of becoming a werewolf. ...more |

Book three of the awesome Vancouver storm series by the talented author Stephanie Archer. I absolutely loved reading this book, the characters are great I loved Pippa, Jaime, hazel, Rory, Hayden, Darcy, Georgia, Alexei. I loved the main pairing of Darcy and Hayden I loved their sizzling Chemistry and hilariously flirty banter, I loved how they both had deep insecurities about their self worth that they had to overcome for their happy ending. This book was highly entertaining and enjoyable book to read. I definitely recommend reading this series, I am looking forward to reading the next book. Darcy after breaking her engagement to kit has moved to Vancouver and is living with her best friend Hayden. She is working as an actuary a data analyst for insurance companies, she’s started dating again but it’s a disaster. She enlists her best friend Hayden to be her wingman and help her become a player. She’s only looking for fun nothing permanent since she just got out of a long term relationship of eight years where kit aggressively pushed to get married and have kids, he’s the only man she’s been with and their sex life wasn’t all that good wants to experience some fun. She wanted to break up with her ex for months but held off for his game season but then surprised her by publicly proposing to her forcing her to say yes before ending things the next day. Both Darcy and Hayden have strong attractions for each other but they’re best friends, she thinks he’s a player and he thinks she’s off limits because his mate is her ex. But regardless agrees to help her pick up men. The Vancouver storms coach ward switches Hayden into offense position. Pippa, hazel and Hayden encourage Darcy to give herself the makeover she wants brighter colours for clothes, purple hair. Hayden helps her dating life but Darcy starts developing a crush on him. They share a heated kiss, kit wants her back she refuses tired of being nothing but an accessory to him, he never took her on dates even valentines, he always criticised her clothing choices, bad sex life all round crappy boyfriend. Darcy’s skills as a data analyst catches the attention of the team who suggest to their coach to offer her a job which he does but she declines out of fear as her first job as a data analyst she made a mistake and got herself and her mentor fired. Hayden continues helping her while fighting his own feelings for her, Georgia and Alexei bicker a lot. Alexei goes on a date with Darcy that turns into a double date when Hayden invites Georgia, Hayden gets jealous enough to make his interest in Darcy known they start having intimate moments. She’s afraid of this being temporary and the risk of ruining their friendship. Darcy decides to accepts wards job offer. She quickly befriends the other analysts Eric, Craig and Jerome. Hayden is a very kind caring person showering Darcy in physical affection and gifts of flowers and touching gestures, including a surprise birthday party for her. Hayden meets up with kit and tells him he’s dating Darcy now and that he didn’t treat her the way she deserved which angers kit. Kit lashes out during their opposing teams hockey game. Darcy comes to a realisation about Hayden after meeting his high school girlfriend who gave him his player reputation when he’s always wanted a steady relationship with women but didn’t think he was anything more than just sex. They attend pippa’s and Jaime’s wedding and realise they’ve both fallen in love with each other but not ready to tell yet. They make love. Kit causes trouble with an interview implying that hayden’s great hockey season is because he’s sleeping with the Teams data analyst, they meet up with ward both willing to sacrifice for the other but thankfully ward has already taken care of things with a powerful statement of his own. Hayden and Darcy finally admit their love for each other. The next hockey season is coming, kit’s team didn’t renew him, hayden proposes to Darcy who happily says yes. Book one of the awesome kings of sin series. I loved reading this book and the introduction to the characters of Vivian, Sloane, Isabellla, Stella, Dante, Christian, Luca, Kai, Domenico, Alessandra. This book was fantastic I loved the banter between Dante and Vivian as they change from enemies to lovers. This book was highly entertaining and enjoyable book to read. Vivian is a luxury event planner she’s twenty eight and single comes from a wealthy family thanks to her father Francis Lau’s jewellery business. She responds to a family summons where her parents surprise her with a marriage suitor Dante Russo who is clearly not thrilled to be engaged to her. In one year they will be married, in the meantime she will be living with him. Dante is furious because Francis is blackmailing him to marry Vivian or risk his brother getting killed. Thanks to his brother Luca reckless behaviour of sleeping with the niece of a mobster and photos of them together are used as leverage. Dante and Vivian confide in their friends Kai, Isabella and Sloane. Vivian moves into his home immediately gets along with his staff butler Edward and Greta housekeeper. Both Dante and Vivian find themselves attracted and annoyed by each other he’s determined to get his revenge on her father and destroy his business. He warns her that it’s strictly business their relationship in private but in public must look like they’re in love. Things get complicated as more time goes by heated kisses at engagement photoshoot, they open up about themselves but he becomes a jerk again and she gives him a check for the money she spent. The relationship is often hot and cold. At a flea market with Isabella who just got a bartending job at Valhalla exclusive club she runs into her ex boyfriend heath that she had to break up because of her family. Dante and Vivian agree to a truce simple because he thinks keeping your enemies closer tactic is the best course of action. However more moments of opening up occur over childhood snacks. At the Valhalla club she meets domenico and his unhappy wife Alessandra. Dante gets jealous when he sees Vivian talking to Kai. Gives her an orgasm in private. Vivian gets the job of hostess for the upcoming high society legacy hall. She and Luca are held at gunpoint by armed robbers which infuriates Dante who comforts a shaken Vivian, and personally punished the one who had a gun on her. They visit his family in Bali for thanksgiving having to share a bed for the first time. The more they learn about each other the more feelings develop between the two causing him internal conflict. He gets jealous when heath sends her flowers and becomes distant again barely speaking to her until he rushes back from DC after learning that heath is visiting her, schemed by Christian the man tasked to find all the copies that Francis has of the photos. He punches heath and she confronts him over Being hot and cold and that he needs to decide if this is just business or something else they have sex. They admit to feelings and she wants dates so he takes her to a childhood dinner for milkshakes. Dante helps her book Valhalla for the legacy hall venue. They go on a romantic trip to Paris and thanks to Vivian unknowingly giving him a clue about her father having eight copies of the blackmail photos. Christian interrupts the trip with news of having found all the photo’s after eight months of searching. Dante torn over his vengeance and Vivian tells him to take down Francis but still doesn’t tell Vivian the truth. He distanced himself when they’re back in New York and she notices she visits his office with lunch but is surprised to overhear her father and fiancé in an argument where it’s revealed her father blackmailed him to marry her and Dante never wanted her and that he finally got all the leverage back from her father horribly hurt she leaves going back to the apartment to pack her things. Dante learns she was there goes after her but it’s not pleasant he comes clean over what her father had on his brother and that he sabotaged her fathers business in revenge he hurts her further to push her away saying it was strictly business she returns the ring and leaves staying with Sloane. She confronts her father who shows no remorse and disowns her when she refuses to help save the business. Luca talks to Dante who acknowledges he’s in love with Vivian gets told to fight for her. Vivian throws herself into work for the legacy hall which is a huge success. Dante shows up apologising tells her he loves her and wants a second chance. She’s hesitant but after running into him at a cafe and his persistence she agrees to date he offers to fix things with her fathers business because she matters more to him that vengeance they go on more dates steadily fixing their relationship. They visit her family for a meal and she stands up against her father realising he’s changed from the man she loved. Dante stops the sabotage of the business and proposes to Vivian again this time with a sentimental family heirloom ring. I absolutely loved reading this little horror story by the talented author Darcy Coates. Her books are simply amazing spine chilling, spooky, creepy, gothic stories. I have been wanting to read this story for a long time but it wasn’t in paperback form until her newest book ghost camera which tells the tale of another one of Darcy’s novellas but it is also a collection of her works as welll, it contains this story and ones like Cathedral which I was extremely excited about. I definitely recommend reading any of her books. Six friends are hanging out on an isolated beach for the summer Amon, Brin, Josh, Sarah, Drew and Reese. There’s a lighthouse that has a chilling history to it, decades before a woman named cami Allan was murdered whilst running towards the lighthouse. Josh and Amon convince their girlfriends too let them give piggybacks while they race each other to the light house. But Reese and drew decide to stay on the beach. Sarah Josh’s girlfriend notices that while the boys are running they keeping saying the number one repeatedly and then a strange ghoulish figured of a bloodied woman chases after them what started off as a twisted prank has turned into something truly terrifying. They race desperately to the lighthouse and get safely inside. But the guys are forced to tell the truth when Brin tries to return to their other friends. That the legend was that if you race on the beach to the lighthouse repeating the number one to mimic like how cami Allan was murdered her spirit chases you but if she catches you you die like she did. They truly didn’t believe it was real and are horrified that is true the other part is once you reach the lighthouse you must stay until dawn. Brian doesn’t believe this abd is about to leave until screams if terror and pain erupt from outside Reese and drew changed their minds about testing the legend but Reese wasn’t quick enough and was caught and killed. ...more |

Another amazing story by the talented author Darcy Coates. I absolutely adore her books the dark, creepy, spooky, spine chilling, gothic little horror stories and this story was no exception. I have been wanting to read this book for ages but it wasn’t available in paperback form until now and in the collections book of Ghost Camera. This story was so creepy it gave me chills reading it. I loved it. Keith and Tam are driving back home and have spent most of the day driving, they discover a large church looking building In the middle of nowhere and decide to take a break and go exploring. They realise that it’s a cathedral. Tam is uneasy by the sight of so many cars out the front but absolute silence inside the cathedral. Keith and Tam get separated. She discovers a creepy statue in the front of the congregation of very realistic stone statues of people sitting in the pews. Another fantastic contemporary romance by the talented author Elle Kennedy. I absolutely loved reading this book, I loved the characters of Hayden, Brady, Darcy. I loved the sizzling Chemistry and hilarious banter between Hayden and Brody. I loved the character development throughout the book. I loved that this book had a bit of everything romance, drama, suspense. This book was highly entertaining and enjoyable book to read. Hayden Houston is the daughter of Presley Houston the owner of the Chicago hockey team the warriors. She teaches art history at Berkeley, she’s on a break from her boyfriend Doug who is a nice guy but won’t have sex. She’s deeply sexually frustrated, she desperately wants a stable relationship with someone she can have a home and family with because she didn’t have that in her childhood her single father was a hockey coach meaning they moved around a lot and seven years ago he bought a hockey team the Chicago warriors and his sole focus is his hockey team and has been distancing himself from her to the point she moved away to San Francisco for her academic career. She doesn’t want to be like her father who spent years alone and then married someone unsuitable leading to a messy dream divorce which is why she’s back in Chicago for her father to support him as he goes through his divorce with Sheila who has been making wild accusations about her father bribing players to lose games. Her friend Darcy suggests that she have a one night stand and hayden agrees selecting a good looking man named Brody they play a game of pool and he’s fascinated by the fact that she didn’t recognise his name and that she hates hockey. Brody has been a player with lots of women but he’s tired of that he wants a real relationship with a woman who wants him not the hockey player he wants a home and family. They go back to her hotel and have a wild night of sex, but he’s shocked by her rejection of them seeing each other again she only wanted a one night stand. Brody is also concerned about these allegations because it could damage his career and he’s not sure if he wants to stay on or leave after the season. Hayden is also hoping to reconnect with her father and show him there’s more to life than hockey. Brody plans to convince her to see him again and is shocked when they bump into each other, he’s a hockey player and she’s the daughter of the team owner. Darcy convinces her to have a fling with him while she’s in town. After giving a deposition for her father her stepmother Sheila who has rumours of having a player for a lover admits to Hayden that her father cheated on her and has a drinking problem. Initially disbelieving these allegations she finds herself more concerned about her father who does seem to be drinking a lot. Brody discovers that the team captain Craig Wyatt is shacking up with Sheila. Hayden and brody begin seeing each other he’s determined to win her over and she’s determined to keep it as a fling. They begin regularly having sex and confiding in each other. The allegations against her father escalate when a player steps up admits there is a cheating scandal. She confronts her father over his drinking and he snaps at her and mentions bad investments deeply upset brody comforts her. Wanting more answers she seeks out Sheila who tells the truth that her father’s investments went bankrupt and lost a lot of money he turned to drinking and fixed games for money and he admittedly cheated on her so she found a new lover in a hockey player. Hayden is surprised that she has Sheila have a lot In common didn’t have stable childhoods but dated bad boys until they tried nice guys but nice guys make mistakes she wanted a home and family. She finally comes clean to Doug who has been calling her that she’s been seeing someone else ending the relationship. Brody confronts Wyatt about sleeping with Sheila and admits he’s the player that confirmed the rumours of cheating because he’s got information and knows the players taking bribes and that it sickens him to be on a team with people willing to cheat for money. Due to the stress of the investigation they lose the game that sends them out of the playoffs Brody is both disappointed and relieved because if they had won he wasn’t sure people would believe they earned it. He takes Hayden back to his house for a passionate night but chaos ensues the next morning when an article about them is published and he’s accused of taking bribes fearing his career is over he ends things with Hayden breaking her heart since she’s fallen in love with him. She confronts her father and overheard him on the phone with Becker about bribes. They have a conversation and she convinces him to come clean, Wyatt tells Brody that it was his friend Becker and their goalie player that took bribes, brody confronts Becker and learns the truth that he took bribes and lied about brody taking bribes to cover his ass because he’s wife is very demanding of money, making brody realise the mistake he made with Hayden throwing the woman he loves away for money, and after her conversation with her father she realises she hasn’t been fair to brody expecting it to be her way all the time even though he’s stood by her. They reunite and admit they love each other. A year later they’re married, five months pregnant and bought a home in Santa Monica, Brody signed on with the Los Angeles vipers. Book two of the awesome Vancouver storms series by the talented author Stephanie Archer. I loved reading this book I loved reading more about the characters of Pippa, Jamie, Hazel, story, Hayden. I loved the sizzling chemistry and hilarious banter between the main pair Rory and Hazel. I love how both of them have insecurities they need to overcome. This book was highly entertaining and enjoyable book to read I’m looking forward to the next book in the series the wingman focusing on Hayden Owens and Darcy. Rory miller is the son of a hockey legend Rick Miller he was raised to be a pro hockey player all his life, he’s been the best scorer but has found himself in a rut he feels nothing even when he wins games. That’s why he traded to the Vancouver team to play with his best friend Jamie but he hasn’t stopped the empty feeling. The only thing that excites him is Hazel and their sarcastic banter. He’s always had a thing for her since high school when she was his tutor. The team coach Ward makes Rory captain and tells him to get his act together. It’s really important to him because he respects ward and wants to stay on the team with his best friend Jamie who he abandoned his friend for seven years after listening to his fathers advice. Rory’s captaincy gets announced alongside a new player joining the team Connor Mckinnion hazel’s scumbag ex who is the reason she doesn’t date hockey players. She’s also been assigned to Connor for his physiotherapist he cheated on her and treated her badly and she’s hasn’t healed from the damage he did to her. Which is why she only does casual and only sleeps with a guy once. Rory expresses his concern over the situation buts she determined to be a professional. However after mistakenly expecting an apology from Connor who further insults her but accusing her of still wanting him. She lies and states she’s dating Rory who is absolutely willing to help her get revenge on Connor but pretending their dating. Rory never liked Connor, and she will help him be a better captain. They tell Pippa and Jamie the truth but everyone else believes they’re dating. Even hazel finds herself struggling to believe it’s pretend with how convincingly Rory is in making Connor jealous. He nicknamed her his fire breathing dragon. What she doesn’t know is that he has had feelings for her for years. They spend lots of time together he joins her classes learns she wants to open a fitness studio that welcomes all kinds of people. He teaches her how to skate and she opens up that the two years she and Connor dated he cheated on her the whole time calling her clingy, needy for expecting them to be exclusive. He shows a softer caring side to her. She notices he doesn’t seem happy playing anymore. She teaches him how to have fun, have a drink and junk food occasionally over his constant strict diet. They grow closer and enjoy messing with Connor who is annoyed by their relationship. Rory learns he really enjoys not being the top scorer and passing the puck to the other players. Hayden Owens is obviously in love with Darcy who is dating his friend abs Calgary team player kit. Rory confides in his parents strained relationships and she confides in her mothers self esteem issues. Rory surprises her by his kind, caring and very giving ways. Real feelings develop for both of them, connor shows an unhealthy amount of interest in hazel to the point he forcibly kisses her. Rory warns him to stay away from her. Rory and hazel spend Christmas together, they’re both in love with each other. On Boxing Day Rory gets drunk with the guys and gets a dragon tattoo, the gesture touches hazel. Hazel finds a place for her studio they report to ward about Connor being inappropriate with her and he gets benched. Hazel and Rory exchange I love yous. Rory reconnects with his mother and puts his father in place after Connor makes rumours of Rory being traded to another team since he doesn’t want to leave Vancouver ward calls in favours and rory signs a seven year contract. This book has been on my list to read for ages and when I found it in my local bookstore definitely had to pick it up alongside the sequel the fake out. I do love a good hockey player themed romance. I loved the introduction of the characters of Pippa, Jamie, Hazel, Rory, Owen. I loved the sizzling chemistry and hilarious banter between the main pairing of Pippa and Jamie. This book was highly entertaining and enjoyable book to read. Jamie streicker is the newly traded goalie for the Vancouver storms hockey team. He transferred from New York to be closer to his mother who suffers from depression and anxiety attacks after his farther died when he decided to get drunk and drive when Jamie was a baby. Jamie has always had to take care of his mother his whole life revolves around his hockey career and his mother starting a new season with a new team the pressure is on to do well enough not to get traded. He has no time for distractions. To help with his hectic schedule his coach Tate ward suggests getting an assistant. He initially refuses like his mother can be extremely stubborn when it comes to getting help. But after reluctantly picking up a stray dog he accepts an assistant. Who turns out to be the gorgeous and musically talented girl he was obsessed with in high school. Pippa is picking up the parts of shattered world, she loves music singing, songwriting and playing a guitar she spent eight years in a relationship with her ex Zach who is a singer in a band and years of him telling she wasn’t good enough for the music industry and the humiliating break up call at the airport. She’s broke and crashing at her sisters hazel’s house. Her parents want her to get a job in marketing a stable desk job. She finds her high school crush Jamie as gorgeous and grumpy as he was eight years ago. She doesn’t think he remembers her but he does and he can’t have her distracting him so he fired her after the first day despite her good work. She’s furious and tired of famous ego centric people throwing her away so she confronts him and gets her job back. She no longer plays the guitar or sings or writes songs thanks to Zach and his manager laughing at her. She’s hurt when Zach moves on and she’s replaced. Jamie sees her upset and comforts her she tells him what happened and he lets her move in with him. He tells her she was always gifted and encourages her to find her love for music again. They grow closer and get to know each other. Ward encourages Jamie to bond with his teammates he stopped having friends after his childhood friend Rory miller told him they couldn’t be friends anymore after they got drafted to different teams. Pippa meets Jamie’s mother Donna and helps her through a bad anxiety attack. Jamie helps her sister hazel’s yoga classes get more media exposure to help her. He gradually gets Pippa to start playing the guitar and singing songs. He helps her get revenge on Zach by showing him what he’s missing unknown to her that Jamie’s attraction abd feelings are very real. Jamie also helps her have orgasms something she never had with Zach. Pippa understands that she can’t fit into his life because he needs to focus on his career and mother but makes it clear to him she can’t do casual. Rory Jamie’s ex friend is a rival team playing against them and has an interest in her sister hazel. Jamie and pippa’s feelings grow and for Christmas he gifts her her dream guitar and she gifts him an album of songs inspired by him. At new years they decide to stop fighting their feeling for each other, she sings and a video of it goes viral catching lots of attention. She’s encouraged to sing a demo with ivy Matthew’s. Jamie seeks out his ex Erin to apologise for their bad relationship feeling guilty but to his surprise she’s doing well and never blamed him giving him peace and closure. Jamie invites her as his date to the gala unfortunately Zach is invited too and he tries to her her back, but she calls him out for stealing the song she wrote and that she’s going on her own puts him In his place and in her past. Pippa and Jamie admit their love and his mother gets into a car accident after having an anxiety attack learning she lied about taking her meds and therapy he has a heart to heart and she realises she needs to do better and actually starts getting treatment. Pippa tells her parents she’s not going to have a career in marketing following her dreams of the music industry her parents concerned but want her happy. She hears back from ivy who offers her a recording contract. Seven months later her and Jamie still happily dating, she and ivy recorded an album two songs are very popular on the music charts. She sings the national anthem at an event where Jamie very publicly proposes to her she happily says yes Jamie and all the hockey teammates and her sister hazel who is the players pysciotherapist gets a memo of a new traded player joining the team and its Rory miller looks like the new season of hockey will be interesting. ...more |

Book four of the awesome romancing the Clarkson series by the talented author Tessa Bailey. The thrilling conclusion to this quartet. We’ve read Rita and jasper story followed by Aaron and grace’s then Peggy and Elliot’s and finally the last of the clarkson’s Belmont and Peggy’s best friend sage’s story. I absolutely loved reading this book how each character overcame personal demons and became stronger, the strong messages of love, friendship, family bonds reconnecting with some romance thrown into the mix. This series is highly entertaining and enjoyable books to read. Belmont is the eldest of the Clarkson siblings he embodies the definition of the strong silent type. Continuing the roadtrip he originally started with his siblings who have all found love along the way in New Mexico, Iowa and Cincinnati. He continues with sage the woman he’s deeply attracted to who is his personal comfort teddy bear. He doesn’t handle change well and in the last three weeks lost his siblings to new lives but they will meet up in New York for new year to take a swim in the ocean for their mothers last dying wish. Belmont and sage are very dependent on each other with physical affection for him it calms his anxieties and for her it’s a need for affection since she didn’t get much from her parents as a child. Sage needs to cut this off with Belmont for several reasons because she has to head back home to sibley Louisiana to help her parents with responsibilities she’s avoided the last five years. Belmont can’t follow because she knows it will kill him. To save him she tells the truth that their connection is too much she doesn’t want to be like her parents who are crippled with dependency on each other. She hurtful pushes him away but he kisses her goodbye making her know he always wanted her as a woman. She immediately regrets leaving but does so reuniting with her alcoholic poor parents Bernie and Thomas. This is what she has hidden from everyone and considers herself a fraud because she’s the poor girl from sibley. Five years ago she made a deal with augie the childhood friend of her parents until her mother chose her father over him, he gave her money for her freedom from sibley but in doing so made her parents vulnerable to august who holds a grudge against them. He’s a mine owner and is been working her father almost to death in the mines she makes a deal to work the last two months until her fathers retirement and that he will get his pension afterwards. Belmont listens to his brother Aaron and goes after her tracking her down to sibley, meets her parents who tell him everything about her now working in the mines in the darkness of the earth horrifying him because of his childhood trauma. He meets augie and takes sages place but their debt is much bigger than two months so he will be working years. He meets up with sage who is angry and embarrassed that he learnt the truth and she makes it clear she can’t be like her parents being so codependent with each other she and Belmont need to be less consumed by each other. They go on a date he feels guilty about the fact that her family is in more debt than she knows. They tell each other intimate things like the fact that it was Aaron’s dad Lawerence who pushed Belmont in the well that trapped him for days. They admit their love for each other and make love. He goes to work in the mine against her wishes she learns the extent of her parents debts by augie, several days pass by and Belmont is fading thanks to the exposure of his fear of small spaces and darkness. To save him she makes a deal with augie to marry him if he will leave them alone. She calls Belmont’s siblings to get him. However augie’s men kidnap him but his family find him and they crash the wedding and sage stands up for herself. The miners inspired offer to help work off their debts. Sage finally lets go of all the guilt she’s been carrying around. She wants to be happy with Belmont they make love again but he makes it clear he needs to stay to confront his demons of the dark in the mine. She continues with his siblings to New York. At new year sage, Rita, jasper, Aaron, grace, Peggy and Elliot meet up with Belmont who is much happier and found peace they’re happily reunited and the siblings dive into the ocean. Fulfilling his mothers dying wish and the fact that he’s closer to siblings now then he was at the beginning of their road trip a month earlier. Belmont meets his father Jonas Belmont. I love this series because of the strong connection to family and reuniting the family, I love the fact that all the characters have emotional demons they need to overcome. I love the characters strength and growth development throughout these books. I love the sizzling chemistry between the characters. This book focuses on Peggy Clarkson and Elliot. Peggy, her brother Belmont and her best friend Sage continue their roadtrip after her siblings Rita and now Aaron have found love and will meet up in New York at new year. Sage and Belmont have a strange connection that makes Peggy slightly resentful because at 25 she’s had four broken engagements, that’s why she’s heading to Cincinnati for her college alumni that’s a yearly event but until now hasn’t gone, but she’s looking forward to making Coach Elliot’s life hell for the weekend because he’s the man who ruined all others for her. Three years earlier she was twenty and a cheerleading at Cincinnati university and got into a relationship with the football team bearcats coach Elliot who was a widower they entered a year long relationship but he broke her heart. Elliot has barely existed in the last three years he’s solely focused on football and religion, he doesn’t have a relationship with his daughter or anyone really. Yet he can’t help hoping like every year that Peggy the woman he’s desperate to forget but can’t will turn up to alumni and this year she has. He believes she’s a married woman and that he well and truly lost his chance with her. Peggy’s plan to make his life hell is derailed when she sees how much help he needs with his daughter, she helps Alice with acting classes. During a dinner with Alice and Elliot she has a private intimate moment with Elliot and has some deep realisations about him, that their relationship was always unhealthy because he treated her like she was a sin, like his weakness, unworthy, she was always there for him but he wasn’t for her, she’s been grieving their relationship for three years but she now realises he wasn’t worthy of her. That she’s developed a unhealthy kink of punishment that to get off she must be treated like crap and she needs to put a stop to it. She tells him he was right that they were bad for each other, that because of him treating her like a bad habit, she’s been unable to be in relationship with people who treated her right they were too nice and she couldn’t stand it. Alice figured out they were in a relationship and calls Peggy a whore which strikes home for her because that’s how he has made her feel. He takes her back and they have sex. He acknowledges had badly he’s messed up and how his actions have affected her self image and is deeply regretful. He reconciled with his daughter. He realises how he’s pushed everyone away and that isn’t right he’s gonna fight for Peggy he needs her in his life. She’s ready to let him go and move on and now he’s treating her how he should have. He apologises when she tells him he made her feel like a whore when she only ever loved him. He works really hard to earn her trust and they go on a date, they manage to raise enough money to save kylers family farm. They win their game thanks to kylar. Alice encourages him to win Peggy back. At alumni he gives a heartwarming speech about his love for Peggy and his daughter and wanting to take time from coaching for them he proposes to Peggy and she says yes. Staying with Elliot and Alice in Cincinnati leaving Belmont and sage to go on with their roadtrip. ...more |

I am loving this series because I love the fact that the four Clarkson siblings Rita, Aaron, Peggy, Belmont and their friend sage are embarking on a road trip leading them to New York for new years to fulfil their mothers last wish, each sibling has deep emotional issues with themselves and with each other and now are slowly reconnecting as a family again. I loved this book focusing on Aaron and the daughter of an Iowa senator grace Pendleton who is just as emotionally messed up as he is. This book was an intriguing book to read. Following the events of the previous book Aaron and his siblings Rita, Peggy, Belmont and their friend sage are on a roadtrip leading them to New York for new years to fulfil their mother’s last wish. Rita found love in New Mexico and will meet them in New York. Aaron is now on Iowa in hopes of getting an advisor position for presidential candidate Iowa senator Pendleton to get his career back on track. His relationship with his half brother Belmont is the most strained they’re all staying in a camping ground. Aaron meets grace who helps him to meet senator Pendleton unaware that she’s his daughter. Grace has been the black sheep in the family for years and been in therapy for years. She uses her art to express herself much to her father’s embarrassment. Aaron meets the senator for dinner and realises grace is the senators daughter who’s being punished for stealing compaign money. He visits her to check on her and she leads him to the money that they take to a shelter in old camping ground called youthaspire. They have an intimate moment and then she becomes cold towards him when she learns that he will be helping her father encourage 18-25year olds vote for her father by influence them. This triggers her due to a past trauma. Aaron suspects something bad happened to her and that he reminds her of it making him hate himself even more than usually dies. To avoid a scandal when the media finds out about the money he becomes the senators advisor after grace gave the shelter the money. Grace takes him to youth aspire campsite and tells him what happened to her at 16 she was sent to the leadership camp and her group of friends were outcasts and their mentor was ray solomon who convinced them that their parents hated them and ended up holding them hostage, hostage negotiator convinced him to release grace because she was the senator daughter but after he did he decided to kill the others and she had guilt for surviving she wants to rebuild the campsite for those who aren’t privileged to give them a chance to succeed the way her friends never got the chance to. Aaron convinced her father to do this project. He now knows why she doesn’t trust people like him because of ray and later her fathers therapists trying to influence her how to think. Grace and Aaron have strong chemistry but are often very hot or cold with each other. But they give into their feelings and start having sex and agree to go on a date but the senator is having Aaron transferred to New York. He tells her on the date, he leaves in the morning but after reading his mothers Diary he is encouraged to go after grace. An argument erupts between grace and her father because he wants to use her trauma for his campaign and that he reveals Aaron had sex with another senators wife abd was fired. She calls her dad out for being so shitty and chases after Arron who is embarrassed and self loathing pushes her away but after getting advice from his family goes after her properly this time exchanging I love toys, they agree to stay until the camp is up and running before going to New York for new year. It’s a lot darker than a lot of Nora’s other looks because it’s got rape, drug abuse, alcoholism, murder, some deep stuff throughout this book. I loved the characters of Emma, Michael, Brian, Pm, Johnno, Stevie, bev. This book really showcased the life of a rockstar with the wealth and previleges, the risks, and of course the sex, drugs, alcohol and Rock and roll. This book was highly intriguing to read. In London 1963 Emma three years old living with her abusive mother Jane gets sold to her father Brian a highly successful band, after she threatens to kill Emma. Michael received a letter sent by Jane before her death saying the idea of Darren’s kidnapping was her idea but the idiots messed it up. Michael alerts Emma and Brian and begins delving into the case. Blackpool meets with someone who expresses concerns that Emma remembers more than they realised. Emma realises she’s being followed and gets confronted by Blackpool who tries to run her off the road but gets into a car wreck himself, Michael interviews him and he confesses to the kidnapping of Darren he did it for money but his accomplice is Pete her fathers band manager. I absolutely loved reading this book, the sizzling chemistry and the hilarious banter and prank war between June and Ryan. I loved the characters development and growth especially for June to overcome Insecurities to have a happy ending. This book is great for any lovers of a good contemporary romance with comedy. This book was highly entertaining and enjoyable book to read I definitely recommend reading it. Twelve years ago on her high school graduation day she was humiliated by Ryan her crush slash nemesis when he almost kissed her before leaving her life for good. She now owns a highly successful darlin donuts shop with her best friend Stacy in Charleston. She’s always wanted revenge on Ryan and now has the opportunity to show him what he’s been missing since their best friends Logan and Stacy are getting married soon. However she underestimates him not keeping track him over the years learns he’s become a successful three star mechelin chef. Ryan thought enough time had passed for the animosity to dissipate but he was wrong he really wanted to kiss her but knew he was leaving for culinary school in France. Their feud is on again but he realises he didn’t treat her well in high school because they bickered and fought all the time but he didn’t do it spitefully he had a crush on her for years and wanted her Attention he’s determined to get under her skin to win her. June is sad that Stacy is getting married and moving away to California for Logan’s new job and that she’s selling her half of the bakery she wants June to be full owner but after a business venture failure June doesn’t have the confidence in herself but to be far at the time she had to cancel her wedding because her fiancé got caught cheating on her and he also said nasty stuff making her extremely self conscious in her body image. Ryan learns from Logan she was almost married and has a one date only rule to prevent herself getting hurt again. They’re forced to spend time together when Stacy’s caterers fall ill and June and Ryan offer to cook for the wedding. The more time they spend together they begin opening up he tells her he was never her enemy that he just wanted her attention but she’s not willing to let her guard down but gradually does when he comforts her when she learns her ex is engaged he’s the first person she confides about being cheated on her own family don’t know. He opens up about his love for cooking from his deceased mother. They grow closer but so is the wedding and she knows Ryan will return to his life in Chicago and hers in Charleston tries to keep an emotional distance but he won’t let her wants her to give them an honest chance to be together they both realise they’re in love with each other and they go on a trip to Chicago together. Ryan turns down a job offer at restaurant owned by his friend Noah. June gets confidence In herself and comes clean to her family about being cheated on which they already knew but we’re waiting for her to be ready to tell them. June and Ryan go to Noah’s opening but doubts and insecurities cause her to flee to the airport he chases after her and she changed her mind and returns to him in a Romantic gesture he’s opening a cafe in Charleston because he hasn’t been happy in a long time. Book one of the it happened in Charleston by the talented author Sarah Adams. I absolutely love her books and this book was no exception I love a good second chance at romance, family spirit and connections, the strong message of happiness and being strong and positive. I loved the serious issues of epilepsy and the importance of service dogs. I loved the characters of Evie, Joanna, Jacob, Sam. I hated Evie’s parent who were trying to force her to marry a man she wanted no part of to the point they cut her off financially to the point they hoped she would starve and come back to them. They were emotional abusive towards her but I’m glad that Evie’s character wasn’t like them being more humble and kind. This book was highly entertaining and enjoyable book to read. Evie suffers from epilepsy she was diagnosed at sixteen and at twenty three she got Charlie her service dog through a woman named Joanna she met at a cafe she owns a service dog company that trains and matches service dogs to clients. The company is called southern service paws. Evie loves it not only did she meet a great friend Joanna, but got a great service dog but this allowed her to leave her overbearing parents and live her own life. The problem is the company is in need of funds because it’s expensive to get a service dog with all the fees attached for people with disabilities she and Joanna have an upcoming fundraising hoping to raise enough money for it to become an annual thing but to also be able to give free service dogs to those in need. She receives an email with funny spelling from a man named Jacob broaden in hopes of getting a dog for his ten year old daughter Sam who suffers from epilepsy. She comes from a very wealthy old money family her parents despise the fact that she moved out and works with servicing dogs they financially cut her off but that doesn’t matter to her because she loves working with the dogs and is being groomed to take over once Joanna retires. She meets Jacob and his daughter only to learn that he had no knowledge of her it was his daughter that sent the email and he was quite rude to Evie and dismissive of her partly because he was angry that his daughter went behind his back but because he was attracted to Evie something he didn’t want any part of because he had a bad marriage with Sam’s mother Natalie who left them for a life in Hollywood. He later changes his mind when he sees how upset Sam is and talks to Evie again and realises that she understands his daughter because of what she went through and agrees to a dog, Sam is matched with daisy and Evie spends a few weeks training them together. Jacob fights his attraction to Evie. Evie has a unpleasant relationship with her parents her mother is emotionally manipulative and abusive and wants her to marry Tyler which she’s not interested in doing. Evie grows closer to Sam and Jacob. He feels more embarrassed by his harsh first meeting when he sees how kind and giving she is and not getting paid much to do it and that she’s basically living off ramen and fruit loops. Joanna decides to play matchmaker and invites Jacob to be Evie’s date to their fundraiser. Jacob learns that she comes from a very wealthy family and how her parents really are and respects her so much for being such a kind person. Not only has she been helping train daisy and Sam but she’s been helping him and Sam connect and help him get over fears and let his daughter experience normal things like slumber parties with friends. Evie and Jacob start dating and he hosts a pool party with his family introducing Evie to them which they all love her immediately. He loves how she’s so kind and caring towards his daughter giving her advice when he can’t. He accompanies her to her family’s house for dinner because she’s hoping to get a check for her business but it’s a complete disaster both her family and Tyler’s family ambush them and prey on Jacob’s insecurities about not being worthy of her and he distances himself from her, which he regrets immediately and then his ex wife spend the night at his house and Evie sees her when she visits in the morning unknown to Jacob. Evie leaves upset and Jacob goes to the gala to apologise and he tells her the truth that nothing happened with Natalie because he only wants Evie loves her. They take care of Sam together after she has a seizure and they agree to be a couple. Two years later Evie is pregnant with a baby boy and happily married to Jacob and Sam calls her mom. Her relationship with her parents has improved after her father nearly died after having a massive heart attack and it made her parents realise they haven’t treated their daughter well and have been making amends. This main pairing in this book is Noah’s baby sister Annie and Amelia’s bodyguard Will. I loved the sizzling chemistry and hilarious banter between them. I loved the fact that both characters had deep emotional obstacles to address and overcome. This book was highly entertaining and enjoyable book to read. If you love a good small town contemporary romance than this series is worth reading. Annie is an introvert with social anxiety. She wants to find a husband and have children and a home but she always messes up on dates with her nervousness. The latest example is a failed date with local bank teller Jonathon where she embarrassingly talks about flowers reproduction and stating she wants a husband. She’s hurt to overhear her date on the phone plan a fake emergency to leave early because he finds her boring and no personality. What’s worse is it’s all witnessed by Will Amelia’s bodyguard who is back in town for the month leading to the wedding. Both will and Annie share an attraction for each other but neither act on it, he’s not interested in any kind of relationship thanks to his parents awful marriage where they cheated and shouted and blamed him and his brother Ethan for everything. Amelia notices their attraction and decides to play matchmaker and have will be Annie’s dating coach at first he refuses but when he sees her go to ask James gets jealous and tells her he will. He helps with flirting and communication during date settings, they share kisses but both of them are trying to fight their growing feelings for each other. The more they learn about each other the deeper they fall in love he loves her banana pjs. Despite the fact he’s determined not to be in a relationship but he gets jealous when he thinks she’s interested in Jonathon or James. Will takes care of her when she’s sick and spies on her date with Brandon whom Annie realises that she only wants will but respects his boundaries even though they both admit to having feelings for each other. They both get much needed advice from family and friends and they end up getting together intimately. Will makes some surprising decisions he chooses to stay in town buys a house and a truck and asks her to be his girlfriend. He also is going back to school to become a teacher. I loved the introduction to the characters of Amelia, Noah, Annie, Emily, Maddison, James, Mable. I loved the small town setting of rome Kentucky. I loved the characters emotional struggles and the characters growth throughout the book. I loved the sizzling chemistry and hilariously flirty banter between Amelia and Noah. The happy Amelia compared to the grumpy Noah. This is a book about love, self discovery and adventure. This book was highly entertaining and enjoyable book to read. Amelia also known as Rae Rose is an award winning singer but her hectic career has burned her out she’s lost the love for singing. Inspired by her favourite Audrey Hepburn movie she decides to take a much needed holiday and travels to rome Kentucky. A little chaos ensues when her car breaks down infront of the house of a handsome stranger Noah walker who recognises her and lets her stay in his guest room. He makes it clear he isn’t looking for a relationship but reluctantly lets her stay two weeks while the mechanic gets a car part to fix her car. Noah is still emotionally closed after getting into a relationship with a woman named Merritt and moved to New York with her for a year but she cheated and he went back to his hometown to take care of his grandmother. He runs the pie shop that she left to him. Amelia wants to find herself everyone wants Rae rose but not her, her relationship is non existent only contact is through her manager Susan who tells her her mothers latest request for money, Susan her agent only wants her success doesn’t notice she’s overworking Amelia. Noah and Amelia share a heated kiss, she meets his sisters Emily, Maddison and Annie who all love her music. She loves Noah’s surliness and grumpiness towards her. She accidentally takes a sleeping pill with alcohol and drunkenly confesses how lonely her life is to Noah who develops strong feelings of protection and care for her. They grow closer and he opens up about his parents dying his grandmother taking care of him and his sisters him falling for Merritt and the horrible year he had living in New York with her and coming home to Kentucky when his grandmother got sick. He tries to keep an emotional distance but finds himself falling in love with Amelia and she’s falling for him. They give into their feelings and have sex but he makes it clear he wants a relationship with her despite his fears of long distance since she will be going on a nine month tour soon. Chaos ensues when they’re ambushed by paparazzi and Susan and her bodyguard Will arrive. After chatting to her mother on the phone for the first time in ages she learns that Susan had deliberately lied to her about her mother cancelling plans over the years and asking for money. Susan took the money for herself. Amelia confronts her and fires her and hires Claire as her assistant. Amelia and her mother begin mending their relationship. Amelia goes on tour and regularly calls Noah but he lets it go to message because he’s distancing himself because he fears she’ll breakup with him first. His sister gives him much needed advice and he surprises Amelia on tour. He apologises to her and promises he will trust them. Book one of the cheat sheet series by the talented author Sarah Adams. This book was amazing I loved reading it. This introduces the characters of bree, Nathan, Derrick, Jamal, Lawerence, price. I had accidentally read book two of this series the rule book, because I didn’t realise it was a series and the characters of bree and Nathan were an established couple in the second one and learned about Derrick’s past in the sequel but I loved reading this book and finding out how Nathan and brew came together. This is a great contemporary romance and definitely a rom com book, sizzling chemistry, hilarious moments I absolutely loved the comraderie between Nathan and his teammates. This book was highly entertaining and enjoyable book to read. Brew and Nathan have been best friends since high school. Nathan is a professional football player for the LA sharks he’s the quarterback. Bree has loved ballet since she was a girl she wanted to be a ballet dancer but after a career ending injury she became a ballet instructor then bought her own dance studio. Brew has been in love with Nathan for years but never told him because she didn’t want to risk their friendship. She watches him breakup with his latest girlfriend because she didn’t like Nathan and bree’s friendship. Nathan has been in love with bree for years but never said anything because he thinks she only thinks of him as a friend and is too scared to tell the truth out of fear of losing her. He’s been secretly paying the rent on her studio to help her and ends up buying the building she’s not happy about it since she’s very independent. For the first time in years they’re both single at Jamal’s birthday drunk bree gets drunk and accidentally talks to a tmz reporter and a video of her and Nathan break the internet. Book three of the awesome dirty air series by the talented author Lauren Asher. This book is great it focuses on the formula one racer Jax Kingston and his PR Elena. Both characters have sizzling chemistry between each other but both have deep emotional wounds in particular with jax who tends to self sabotage. Both characters have great depths to them, I also loved reading more about the other characters Noah, Maya, Liam, Sophia, and new race driver and best friend to Elena Elias Cruz. I definitely recommend reading this book. Elena was twelve years old when she overheard her parents getting murdered and has been haunted by the night ever since. Jax Kingston after getting drunk and made a scene ending up in the papers because of his mother suffering from Huntington’s disease partying is his coping mechanisms, new McCoy boss Connor steps up and tells jax that Elena will be babysitting him this season and to help repair his reputation he’s not happy. Elena has lots of debt from her university and a sick grandmother who has alzheimers and needs to be put in a care facility that she can’t afford until she accepts a job offer from Connor to fix max’s image much like she did Liam’s in the previous book. Her best friend Elias is formula one racer that’s replaced Liam on team McCoy helped her get connected with other athletes. Jax has a deep attraction for her but because of his mothers diagnosis he doesn’t believe he has a future since he could have inherited the disease he often treats Elena appallingly she’s attracted to him but remains professional determined to help him they have major clashes of wills each giving as good as they get from one another. Jax gets jealous of how close Elias is to Elena unaware that he’s gay. Elena overhears jax berating himself and suggests to Connor that the drivers get access to a psychologist to help with their mental issues but wants Connor to take credit for the idea. Jax falls into the pattern of wanting to be better but relapsing, his image does get cleaned up when he does the fundraisers for several important projects like raising money for domestic violence victims, children in need etc. he finally steps up to be better when he sees how much Elena and his friends care about him. He starts talking to the psychologist about his issues, he and Elena gradually get closer getting to know each others traumatic histories. Especially after he witnessses her anxiety attack and that Elias comes out as gay to him. Jax confides in Elena about his fear of getting tested for Huntingtons disease and his guilt for being away while his mother is sick. Elena meets his parents and jax and Elena develop an intimate relationship he’s much happier until he goes and gets tested for Huntington disease and it’s positive. Desperate to push Elena away from him afraid to make her watch him get sick like his mother is and how his father has to witness her suffering he once again self sabotages himself by faking getting drunk and creating a scene unfortunately this causes Connor to fire Elena meaning she no longer can afford the facility for her grandmother and her and jax break up. When Elias confronts jax and tells him he’s horribly guilty and determined to fix things for her he gets Connor to pay her in full, and gets James Mitchell the principle of the bandini team to hire her as PR. Jax’s mother Vera visits Elena and tells her her grandmothers bills are paid indefinitely, and explains how she felt about her diagnosis and that her son carries those fears and pushed her away after his test came back positive, needs to go after jax and make it clear she isn’t going anywhere like jax’s father did for her. Jax announces he’s quitting after this season, he wins the championship and Elena surprises him by turning up to support him, they reunite and get back together. Three months later he surprises her with a proposal she says yes, a month later both Elena and her grandmother have relocated to London and jax surprises her with house plans including rooms for children. I loved reading this book, I love the characters maya, Noah, Liam, Sophie, Jaxon, Santiago, I liked the introduction of Elena jax’s love interest in the next book, this book focuses on the pairing of Sophie and Liam. I loved the characters growth and development as they overcome personal obstacles to have happy ending. I loved the fast paced adrenaline of the racing world. This book was highly entertaining and enjoyable book to read. Sophie met Liam the first time three years earlier when she was eighteen they flirted but both were horrified to learn that Liam is a formula one racer for McCoy and her father is James Mitchell the team principal for the formula one racing team the bandini. Sophie has a passion for art but her father wants a practical career for her and not willing to disappoint him she’s attending university for business degrees like accounting. Two years ago Liam’s best friend Johanna who is married to his older brother Lukas and is pregnant with baby two goes into labour and dies during childbirth thanks to complications the baby girl Kaia is saved. However this loss emotionally shatters Liam and ge distances himself from anything resembling love even avoids his family. Three years after first meeting Liam Sophie meets him again after she decides to take a break from her crappy live life and unhappy with her classes she gets drunk and makes a naughty to do list she joins her father for the formula one racing season ten months travelling globally for twenty one races. She deals with her father’s overprotectiveness. Liam’s contract with McCoy is at risk because he slept with Claudia his boss Peter’s niece now he has to be on his best behaviour and stay out of trouble. Liam’s agent Rick corners Sophie tells her that Liam’s contract is at risk because of their relationship Sophie feels guilty and deliberately sabotages their relationship by admitting her love for him, she knows he loves her based on his actions but he won’t admit it giving her the chance to end things, both Liam and Sophie are hurting badly. Sophie confronts her father about how unhappy she is with her classes and fear of disappointing him. She tells him what happened with Liam and he tells Liam information that Rick cornered Sophie and that it’s Peter who has been spreading rumours about him and how his agent lied about offers from other racing teams. After the last race Liam tells Sophie he loves her but for her the words aren’t enough she needs him to prove it. He listens to advice from his family. He fires Rick as his agent gets Peter fired from McCoy and he joins another team in Italy. He moves to Italy surprises Sophie with a list of his own including things like get married and have kids etc. a year later Liam and Sophie move in together, two years later they’re married, living next door to Noah and maya and Sophie surprised Liam’s with a pregnancy announcement.
