Cove Waimarie and her crew Sean Rov wrangler, Roy camera/ audio/ lights guy, Aidan the chef/ assistant, Hettie marine biologist, Vanna diving specialist are on board the skipjack owned by historian Devereux on the Gulf of Bothnia between Sweden and Finland to film and explore the missing shipwreck of the ocean liner Acadia that disappeared nearly a hundred years ago no one knows what happened only that something happened on the routine voyage that lead them to be over three hundred miles off course before sinking. They’re doing a documentary for Vivitech productions and need at least twelve hours of footage to meet their end of the contract or they want get paid, Cove desperately needs this to be a success because she had to file bankruptcy when her father got sick and passed away. The last contact the Arcadia had was a cryptic distress message about they are in the walls. Although coves group has had some hiccups getting here, with Sean’s Rovs that were supposed to check out the wreck aren’t working making their time even shorter since they have to dive and be down there to get the twelve hours of footage. The first dive All but Sean and devereux go diving, they’re the first team to see the Arcadia shipwreck and are excited to get answers on the mystery of the shipwreck, while they’re diving sean is paranoid that someone sabotaged his robots so they would have to dive themselves he suspects Roy and searches the others belongings looking for evidence however he mistakes the bunks and finds a journal of Vanna’s with disturbing notes on death and drowning and becomes concerned that she is going to hurt the others, on the dive they see all the doors open in the hallways, they swear they see movements creepy messages on the walls in the dining hall they find a well preserved body and return to the surface hettie explains because of the location there’s low oxygen for humans natural bacteria to decompose only a slight decomposition but not enough for bodies to rot. Meanwhile throughout the book it goes back to 1928 the last week and half leading up to the ship sinking and tells of the crews experience, weird sounds in the walls, a mummified body found behind a wall, the deteriorating mentality of the crew and passengers from people milling themselves to burrowing disease digging holes in the ship and hiding in them until dying, paranoia runs amuck and the captain kills a crew member. Sean goes to cove with his concerns of vanna. Cove talks to vanna and learns that it’s a journal her therapist told her to write to deal with the recent death of her girlfriend who drowned while they were in underwater caves and drowned she keeps her secret and defends Vanna to Sean who is frustrated. On the second dive someone has cut vannas dive line and they separate into teams to cover my ground and footage Cove, Roy and Aidan on one team Hettie and Vanna on the other more chilling messages found written Hettie finds bodies strapped to beds and unties one and sees the body move causing her to have a seizure they rush her back to the surface. Sean publicly blames vanna accusing her of hurting hettie and blurts out Coves bankruptcy secret. On the third and what is to be the final dive all the bodies truly come alive and try to stop them from leaving Vanna and Aidan, and Roy and Cove fight their ways off the ship although deverux gets Aidan to get something from the hold he saw on the footage earlier before the attacks happen they all manage to get out and use spare tanks for air. They realise the creatures were hibernating by the lack of the oxygen and the recent dives have introduce enough oxygen that woke them, they don’t want them to leave on the ship, they make it to the surface and when cove discovers he ignored her safety rules by going to the lower areas to the holding to get a fabric sample with Pt inscribed on it he storms off after asking if they saw any jewellery on him. Devereux and hey tie explains that the Arcadia was shipping some fabrics from a company Prescott tiles that had a major scandal that the fabric they made thinner and softer also caused mass suicides and paranoia and hallucinations in the workers who made the product and strongly believe that this heavily contributed to the Arcadia crew and passengers going insane hettie also believes that the mummified body needed the fear that the fabric caused in the residents to harm them. They realise that Aidan is missing Devereux tells them he’s gone looking for the ring he had on a chain in secret that he was planning to ask his girlfriend Penny to marry him, they see equipment and a dry suit is missing so Roy, Vanna and Cove dive again to save him, Sean apologises to Vanna for his behaviour that since his rovs being sabotaged he’s been paranoid Roy speaks up and tells him he removed the chips in the rovs because he wanted to dive the three days to explore and not through a camera screen and tells him where he put the missing chips. While down their they find Aidan and realise the creatures are afraid of the lights and Sean gets the rov online and saves them from the ship. They all make it back to the surface. They discuss they can’t let anyone see the footage of the bodies coming alive because people will come exploring which is exactly what the ship wants more oxygen. Sean and Devereux edit the footage and luckily with the rov footage they scrape by the twelve hours of footage to keep their contract, they swear not to tell about what really happened here, five months later the documentary is about to be revealed they petitioned the government to make the Arcadia shipwreck a grave site banning all diving to the wreck because of bodies on board and the living relatives of the families involved with this wreck. Aidan messages them cheerfully that he proposed to his girlfriend Penny and she said yes. Cove is looking forward to living her life one day at a time. ...more

Keira wakes up in the woods being hunted she can only remember her name nothing else, during a stormy night she seeks shelter with a pastor in a cemetery who helps hide her from the man chasing her with a gun. Adage helps her by letting her stay at the grave keepers cottage. She gradually gets used to the town of Blighty and it’s residents medical student Mason and eccentric Zoe become her friends but she learns new things about herself she has supernatural abilities she can see ghosts, has empathetic imprint abilities there are dozens of spirits in the graveyard but one In particular Emma is seeking help, with the help of her friends Keira discovers the grim past of Blighty and soon discovers that Emma had a baby with Frank and was looking for her baby’s spirit when Keira tells her the body was found but her spirit had moved on so did Emma. I loved the fact that once Adage who knew Emma and Frank found out that Keira could see her spirit and was trying to help her move on offered her to stay at the cottage for a wage to help the spirits move on to the next life. I loved the characters in the book the kind pastor Adage, the kind and mysterious Mason, the conspiracy theorist Zoe, I feel like Harry is an interesting character that we may learn more about In the later books maybe with a bigger role, Gavin the town bully and thanks to Keira’s imprint abilities saw his dark secret of killing a man, and I like the fact there is still the mystery of Keira’s origins and who are the people hunting her. I can’t wait to read more of this series to find out what happens next. I definitely want to find out more about Keira’s mysterious black cat Daisy who may not be a normal cat, I loved the cat character I thought it was cute. I loved this book I highly recommend reading this book and any other Darcy Coates books are definitely worth reading as well I love the gothic, creepy, haunted places and cemetery vibes she is known for in her books....more

Humanity has fallen.
It's a phrase everyone thinks, but no one dares speak.
Barely two weeks following the Cymic Parasite invasion, Central's carefully orchestrated system of stations and communication networks is obliterated. Some estimates say more than a third of humanity is dead, and those who survive are counting the hours until the invasion arrives on their doorstep.
Mitzi is a disgraced ex-military officer. In this new, desperate world, her dishonourable discharge is no longer a black mark against her employment, and she's managed to get a commission for one last job.
Her mission is to attack a planet overrun by Cymics and detonate a fuel reservoir in an effort to kill them. If she fails, Central loses a vital communications centre, and its last retaliation efforts will collapse.
It's a crazy, desperate, reckless plan... just the kind Mitzi likes. The absolute thrilling conclusion to the series. One thing I have enjoyed reading in these books are everyone's different struggles during this crisis , the fates of different characters and the individual characters development through these attacks have been well written and I will definitely re read this series in the future ...more

MarThe next instalment of the cymic parasite series sees another group of scientists fighting for their lives against the parasitic alien life forms. Maren's career isn't doing so great. She was trained as a defence technician - a specialised fighter commissioned to protect stations - but the only job she could get was as a maintenance worker on Station 334. She's not complaining, though. Not too much, anyway. She's made friends on the communications outpost, and the job isn't without thrills.
But there are whispers of something terrible and deadly creeping closer...
Gin, Maren's friend and 334's communications lead, has been receiving an exceptionally high number of emergency help requests from remote stations. Their governing body, Central, has lost contact with the response teams it sent. And a single frantic sound bite suggests humanity's situation is far more dire than anyone thought.
Maren's defence training might prove useful after all.
Especially when the threat turns up at their station but the parasite life form isn't the only threat Maree has to survive against and try to save herself her closest friend Gon and her male superior and love interest I love the fact with these books the endings are always different but fit into the flow of the series ...more

She was a junior scientist studying under the highly-respected Commander Stanos when her station was attacked.
The threat is unlike anything Kala could have imagined: the aliens are fast, overwhelmingly strong and pathologically intent on killing any human they encounter. Worse, they have a flawless disguise. Once they kill a human, the aliens absorb its body and assume its skin.
But Kala thinks she's discovered their weakness. Fire is the weakness humans can use against them. And her knowledge might be humanity's only hope. She just has to survive long enough to escape and spread the word. This was another fantastic addition to the amazing sci fi series ...more
