I loved this latest addition to the Boston Hawks Hockey series. The Defender is James Ryan and Bella Matthews’s story. The emotions of this book are so big. The love in this story is overwhelming and all encompassing. The author has been teasing James’s story to us in the last few books and I could not wait to see who was going to bring love and light into his world. Single dad to twins Milly and Mason James lost his wife and first love to cancer 2 years previous. The Defender is a romance that shows the power of love and how loving the right person can truly heal your soul. It has been a long time that a book has left such a huge mark on my heart. This is book that shows us that your soul mate is who guards and protects your heart but is also the person who can hurt it the most.
TW/CW: Grief, Loss of spouse, Loss of Pregnancy, past domestic abuse, anxiety/depression, divorce.

Despite their different backgrounds and shareWhere We Belong by Ashley Munoz is an instant connection romance featuring Killian Quinn and Laura Witt. Despite their different backgrounds and shared childhood traumas, their relationship is complicated yet compelling.
Killian, the new president of the Stone Riders MC, and Laura, connected to the club through Callie, have great chemistry but initially lack a deep connection. Killian's hot and cold behavior made it hard to understand his true feelings, adding to the tension.
The frequent flashbacks felt unnecessary, detracting from the present story. Despite this, I enjoyed this book more than the first. The characters were meant for each other and grew through their connection.
The audiobook, performed by Isabelle Turner and Chase T. Walker, was exceptional and added depth to the story.

Filled with engaging banter, tension, and a well-paced slow burn, the story explores the complexities of their evolving relationship. While the last quarter of the book introduces a somewhat cheesy element that some may find excessive, overall, Moreland skillfully crafts a compelling narrative with complex characters. The audiobook, performed by John Lane and Titiana Sokolov, adds to the experience, with Lane shining in his role, though Sokolov's portrayal of Katy falls slightly flat. A rollercoaster of emotions, "The Contract" offers a satisfying romance with moments of humor and heart....more

The refreshing honesty bIn Samantha's latest installment, Ethan Berkley's journey through anger management intertwines with a captivating love story. The refreshing honesty between Ethan and his life coach, Alexandra Kinder, adds depth to their undeniable chemistry. While their relationship faces external challenges, the minimal internal drama allows their bond to flourish. Samantha skillfully navigates the complexities of their pasts, weaving a compelling narrative that surpasses previous entries in the series. The professional and personal growth of the characters adds layers to the story, making it a solid four-star read that leaves readers eagerly anticipating the next chapter in the series.
My struggle in this book was the lack of professionalism from Alexandria. I felt like she was willing to tell all to any and everyone about Ethan's issues. This made it a struggle to really connect with her as the heroine.
This book also lacked content warnings of mentions of past abuse suffered by the heroine.
This series has been an overall joy to read. I loved Asher's story but book 2 was ok. I was excited to check out Ethan's story and it did not disappoint. The camaraderie, humor, and good-natured ribbing among these friends are a joy to experience. Beneath the extravagant stakes, there's a genuine warmth as they prove to be there for each other when it matters most.

The children in the story add depth and charm, and the lake house setting offers a delightful backdrop. Give it a chance if you enjoy stories of love and healing amidst the challenges of single motherhood.

I've been a fan of this author for a while, having enjoyed many of their previous works. However, this book left me disappointed. It's not what I expected from the author. I am super pissed about this book. It lacks intimacy. From one abusive relationship to the next. ALso was she curvy or plus size- pick a damn lane. The fat phobia was yucky. The heroine never deals with the trauma of 10+ years of abuse and an alcoholic/ abusive father. The heroine is excited to be second best to a dead women. It was really a love triangle where the 3rd person was dead. I don't believe in their HEA and I hated Lorenzo in the end. the possibility for a story here could have been so powerful instead we got crap.
I have really enjoyed this series but this book was a complete letdown for me. The storyline got lost in all the cum...

Hagen, however, struggles with feelings of inadequacy and finds it difficult to express his emotions. This creates doubts for Penny until she realizes that Hagen's actions speak volumes about his feelings for her.
Hagen is a complex character, hiding his true self behind a stone-cold persona due to his troubled past. But with Penny, he reveals a tender and caring side, utterly enamored by her. Surprisingly, his jealousy and possessiveness only ignite her passion further. While Hagen has loved Penny for as long as he can remember, articulating his emotions proves challenging. Chase and Juliet, the main characters, captivated me with their incredible bond. Having known each other for years, their connection and chemistry were palpable, and I couldn't help but be swept away by their story. I was in awe of their complexity of character. The writing allows the reader to see into their thoughts without it becoming bogged down in the pacing of the story. I can't wait for more from this author and the Ravage Family.

I have to admit, there's a certain sweetness to Macon and Lennon's relationship, although it does have its peculiarities.
This story encompasses several popular tropes: best friend's brother, enemies to lovers, a touch of a love triangle, the classic good girl/bad boy dynamic, and a forbidden element. It's undoubtedly messy, full of angst, and the characters aren't always likeable.
This book compelled me to keep reading. It drew me deep into the story with its addictive qualities.

This book had a promising start. But if I am honest it quickly fell off for me. I do think the portrayal of Brooks and Greer's friendship, was great. The characters are likeable and memorable. I think my disconnect comes down to the author’s writing choices. The ending portion of the book redeemed it for me. I appreciated the humor, and the way Brooks and Greer confronted the challenges presented by their families and those who might oppose their relationship.
While this book had the potential to be good, it suffered from a lack of development and a slow pace in the middle. The spa and murder podcast were filler. The author’s choice to break the fourth wall was not well executed. The pacing suddenly shifted to a rapid tempo, providing insufficient opportunity to explore the interactions between Brooks and Greer.

Juliet had always craved love and security, and after overcoming a difficult childhood and finding a transformative romance, she felt content. However, one fateful summer altered her life's trajectory and led her to someone who would impact her for years to come.
Despite a few issues, this reader remained invested in the story's outcome. I do wish for more one-on-one time between the main characters, feeling that too many interruptions disrupted their connection. Another point of view would have provided more insight into the hero's emotional state. Nevertheless, the novel showcased a woman's journey towards a happy ending despite the heartache and obstacles she faced....more

Enter the captivating world of "Devious Deals," a dark contemporary romance that draws inspiration from the beloved tales of The Little Mermaid and Tarzan. Throughout the story, readers will find plenty of unmistakable references that pay homage to these classic stories. It was done in a way that it wasn’t campy and created instant connections to the story.
The premise of "Devious Deals" holds great promise, combining the elements of a dark romance with the allure of a contemporary fairy tale. However, the fast-paced nature of the story often leaves readers feeling like they need to backtrack to ensure they haven't missed any vital details. The connection between Ari and Kieran feels somewhat lacking, making it difficult to fully invest in their happily ever after. It does make it harder for the reader to connect and understand Keiran.
Overall, "Devious Deals" offers an enjoyable story, it is kiny and fast paced. I wish it had delved deeper into the intricacies of the relationship between the main characters, moving beyond surface-level dynamics....more
