i was seriously here for the vibes. I don't think the author even knows what to make of the plot, and the reason the whole society of 6 was after Jeremiah and Sid was so lame. Most of the topics were brushed off as if they didn't really matter.
this follows right after book 1, so it's not a standalone! this whole series is connected. and it has somewhat sharing moments (not threesome).
“My feelings for Jeremiah aren’t too different than my feelings for Lucifer, and that makes me feel…gross.”
Sid is so fucking indecisive, i can't. She couldn’t even decide who to trust (understandable), but one minute she hates Jeremiah, the other she realizes that he's her safe place and she loves him. It's the same with Lucifer, she hates him but then fucks him. Luce was right about saying that this girl is predictable because SHE LIKES SEX.
She was sold to different men throughout her life as in foster families, she killed them and didn’t cower, and that made her a liability? like bffr
Lucifer is also freaking indecisive! Even though he had cute moments and I did like some scenes, he was clueless. He didn’t even know what to do, and all his "I HAVE TO LET HER DIE" shit was confusing. again, one moment he is like 'i hate her' but the next he's all possessive & jealous.
“I’ve always wanted to fuck you.”
JEREMIAH RAIN IS THE ONLY ONE WHO ACTUALLY HAD BRAINCELLS AND KNEW WHAT HE WANTED! He wanted Sid. Only Sid. And even though it was so fucked up to read about him kissing her (when she didn’t know he wasn't his brother), I enjoyed that ...more

It isn’t until you throw a resignation letter at your boss that he finally gets his head out of the gutter and looks at you in a new light, as the respectable lady that you are. this book made me realize that some books aren’t THAT bad just because you were in a ‘slump.’
⌞ Luca Windsor & Valentina Diaz ⌝ ᯓ 34-29
• Luca & Valentina have this professional boss x assistant relationship going on for 8 years. of course, she got a little comfortable sharing her opinions and remarks, but at Ares Windsor's wedding, thanks to Luca's impulsiveness and jealousy, they hooked up. And things went downhill (not really) from there.
Initially, i stamped Luca with an ASSHOLE label for how he behaved post-hookup, saying all the dumb things to Val, that made me scream FUCK YOU in capital letters, bold, underline, and italics. i even agreed with all the one-star reviews because why not?

“Dear Kitten, please know that I wish it were my hands on your skin each time you wear these necklaces.”
Don’t we all deserve someone like Xavier Kingston (or just him), who's been obsessing over Sierra for decades? stealing her projects just to get her attention, naming every one of them after her (including her favorite dishes on the menu), keeping her favorite drinks in his cabinet in case she comes over, gifting her an annotated book to express his feelings, baking her cookies every day because she loves them, and even decorates them with X & S. cashed in on all the favors her brothers owed him to get their support in his plan to marry her, got her a machine that keeps her drinks warm because she forgets about them while reading books, and he even writes a book titled *The Story of Us* ...more

he suffered guys!!!! he suffered way too much and i was eating up each & every scene. theresa walked him like a dog ffs! the whole book had groveling, and it's a proper marriage-in-crisis book. it did have a lot of problematic moments and made me furious, but groveling & suffering > his assholeness.
“Theresa, if you ever wanted revenge for the way I’d treated you, you got it in spades when it felt like nothing I was doing or saying was making any difference to the way you felt about me.”
⌞ Mr. & Mrs. De Lucci ⌝
ᯓ theresa & alessandro might've had a good relationship as they both liked each other from the first moment, but because her father forcefully made Sandro marry theresa, he despised her. their 18 months were purely physical (aaron warner's excuse iykyk), and she slowly lost her trust and love for him and asked for a divorce!
–
“I want a divorce,” she whispered. “I’m sorry,” he groaned. “I’m so sorry for more things than you could possibly imagine… but that’s the one thing I can’t give you”
seriously, these men need a little push in the right direction and 'i want a divorce' was the best one for Sandro. he did act cruelly towards her emotionally and thought that hanging her cousin's debt over her head would make her change her decision, but he wasn’t ready for her cold attitude. i swear theresa's constant flinching from his touch, as if he's not worth touching her, and not even believing anything coming out of his mouth, literally tore his heart out, and i was on the sidelines cheering for my girl ...more

I don't even know how I'm feeling right now after reading this. I’m going to develop a new personality soon! THIS BOOK WRECKED ME. It’s the first in the series, and it was so messed up that I’m jumping to the next one immediately. Kade's obsession with Stacey is something I'll never forget!
• KadeStacey (21), have been obsessed with each other since they were 15. They became intimate when they were 18 and fell in love. But something happened between them, and they fell apart. Now, Kade despises her way too much.

“She’s the girl I watch, the girl I obsess over until I feel like I’m going fucking insane."
Kade Mitchell is a complicated character. He’s got a lot of layers—psychotic, obsessive, but also deeply emotional, even though it’s hard for him to express it. As a teenager, he had a vulnerable side, always panicking and nervous around Stacey. But after their breakup, he went down a dark path, getting involved with the wrong people. He’s badly traumatized, and I literally sobbed because of what he was going through. Reading his pov, seeing how he retreated into his own mind, feeling the emptiness that consumed him, was heart-wrencing. They could never make me hate him ...more

I didn't expect this to be much better! I laughed so much while reading it, and this one is definitely the perfect enemies-to-lovers story. I thought Chrysantha's story would be a letdown, but it turned out to be amazing!
