It took D H Nevins five years to write it and it was worth the wait!
The world and characters captured me and I am so eager to get back into the story and find out what Kali will do. In her dystopian world, she has some difficult choices to make.
Her forbidden love for Tiamat…will it sway her decision?
Good and evil. Angels and demons. If you think you know angels…think again. These angels are not ones you want knocking on your door.
Tiamat is Nephilim. They were sent to wipe out humans from Earth in The Cleansing. But, when Tiamat met Kali, his world shifted. Can an angel disobey? Will he?
Kali is half human, half demon. Tiamat is half human, half angel.
When Kali is faced with death, her Shadow saves her, but at what cost? Is it a friend or foe? Can she control it, or will it control her?
Each character, no matter the size of their role, is a valuable addition to the story. Not all will survive and I was especially saddened by one Nephilim’s death in particular, but I do like that an author is not afraid to kill off a character if they feel it is necessary. Life is not always happy ever after, so why should a novel be?
Tension mounts and war approaches. Nephilim against Nephilim, demon against angel, where does Kali fit in? I am so happy that I have watched Supernatural, the TV show, because it allows me to understand and visualize the world that D H Nevins has created.
I am eagerly anticipating Book III, And After The Shadow, Light by D H Nevins, which will be published in the fall of 2018.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of Angel of Shadow by D H Nevins.

It is unusual that I become so enamored by a “bad guy”, but Lolly has my full attention. I can’t help but feel some empathy for her in this novella. With her background, it is not surprising that she turned out the way she did, but she is a human being. There is a heart, though it seems to be buried pretty deep. Can anyone reach her, make a connection?
She is on the run, with only one person to turn to. But, can he, will he be able to help her?
I was walking through the words, strolling along. Before I knew it, I was racing through the pages, so curious to see the outcome. Images flashed through my mind – Lolly holding the man by the heels, threatening to drop him off the roof – scaling walls and creating fire with her super powers.
I love it! Stephen Henning had my attention from the beginning to the end. Lots of action and emotion in such a few pages. I think this novella will entice you to read further and discover the adventures of the superheroes, James and Sam. Maybe you will even develop some empathy for Lolly, as I did. After all, she is only an unhappy teenager with superpowers. How bad can it be?
I received this novella from the author in return for an honest and unbiased review.

I love the combination of private investigator and magic. I do love some light heartedness with my murder and Shami supplies plenty.
I really enjoyed the characters Adair Finch, a warlock and private investigator, a young girl, Bree, and Kull, a spirit. I love how they learned to work together. Bree brought Adair back to the world of the living. He had isolated himself after his brother’s death, feeling he was responsible. Bree came to him after her mother was murdered and her father was kidnapped. Her mother had told her that he could be trusted. She is so cute and determined. He soon finds he cannot deny her anything.
Adair also has the ability to turn back time, and it really came in handy. If something went hinky, he would rewind time and fix whatever didn’t work the first time. And it definitely came in handy, seeing there was so much going on he could never be prepared for everything.
Time Marked Warlock by Shami Stovall is fast paced, unputdownable.
If you like the paranormal and mysteries, Time Marked Warlock is sure to fit on your reading list. I feel this can stand alone, but there is more than one mystery and only one has been solved. Because I don’t know if I’ll be around to find the answers for the unsolved mystery, the book has to pay the price, the lack of that fifth star for an excellent rating.

Normally I am a patient person, but waOMG! MY Mind Is Officially Blown!
Update
Hold onto your seat, because Fourth Wing is sure to have you flying high.
Normally I am a patient person, but waiting for Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros had me checking my library app repeatedly. Now, that I have read it, I am checking every day for the second book in the series, Iron Flame, and am not being the least bit patient. I need it NOW.
At first I thought, “This is a great book and Book II would be the one to blow me away.” Due to the length of Fourth Wing, 650 pages, Rebecca had me overwhelmed with emotions. The characters jumped off the pages and the dragons had me flying high. I didn’t want to stop reading. Even though I am a fast reader, it took me a couple of days to read it.
I know they are working on a TV series, and I feel I will end up disappointed, because they’ll probably try and force me to buy an app to watch it. We shall see. I thing the Empryean series will be like Twilight and Lucifer. A series I will binge watch over and over again.
Romance, friendship, and battles…all will be tested.
If you are thinking of buying Fourth Wing, you might as well buy the whole series. Once you get attached to the characters, they won’t quit talking atcha.
Fourth Wing is amazing and sure to be one of my favorites of the year.

I watch Below Deck on TV and when D V Sullivan asked if I was interested in reading a copy of Lair, I dove right in. I can see why he thought of yatchs as a setting, seeing he has been a yatchie himself. What an original idea.
Aurora runs from an abusive boyfriend, running right into the arms of a billionaire vampire. I have never read about vampires on yatchs and I love what D V Sullivan has done with them. Of course, he has a steady supply of blood, seeing his employees are handy and easily disposed of. Can a vampire fall if love with a human? Can Aurora fall in love with Adrian?
Aurora coaxes Adrian into trying to cure his curse and I sure didn’t see the outcome. I am really curious about the future books in the series.

I love his horror stories and to see that fabulous cover and know there’s gonna be some munching going on makes me eager to begin.
Humans: They’re what’s for dinner.
And it’s all you can eat...
With a start like that, I don’t think Hunter Shea can go wrong. If you could see me now, all you would see is my teeth, because my smile is so wide….
So…let’s travel to sunny Florida, my neck of the woods. I see a lot of lizards hanging around, but nothing like these blood thirst buggers. There are lizards galore, but, more than that, is the hurricane heading their way.
Sinkholes, everyone in Florida know what sinkholes are, but these are something else entirely.
It’s hard to write a review without giving things away, so I’ll just say this….
Hunter Shea can sure spin a wicked tale. In Jurassic Florida, he starts out slow, feeding me a little at a time…Until the storm hits and all hell breaks loose.
I must warn you not to get attached to any of the characters. It’s hard to say who or how many will survive, because Hunter Shea is not afraid to kill them off in a savage and brutal way. I must be sick because I can’t help but laugh as I picture the events unfold like a movie in my mind. I love all the blood curdling gnoshing going on and revel in their misery.

I love the series, and would love Avenging My Wolf if it was more fleshed out. It’s rare when I want more details, but that is what happened here. Sure, we have danger, romance, and some sexy trysts, but I wanted more danger, more romance and more sexy trysts.
Jace has not fully recovered from the curse, so he keeps Lydia at bay. She is his mate, so I say, “Get over yourself, Jace.” Life is too short to devote it towards revenge, but he’s not listening to anyone.
Lydia escaped an abusive boyfriend, leaving his pack and joining Jace’s. She’s confused about Jace’s actions, seeing he’s her mate. She tries to seduce him and definitely gets him hot and bothered. They both need cold showers. lol
I am loving the Stone Mountain Wolf Shifters, but Avenging My Wolf felt rushed. I wanted to be more involved, but I couldn’t get there. Gotta remind myself that this is an ARC.

I want to thank NetGalley and and Mira for the opportunity to read Legacy of Blood (The Blackbird Files, #3).
Special Agent Jeanette LaFarge is on her way to Paris, not for a wine tasting, but to discover why murder victims are being drained of their blood. History is repeating itself, and it’s not vampires that are running the countryside.
I am familiar with the Krewe of Hunters and am excited to meet the team of Blackbirds.
Jeanette will be paired up with Daniel Murray, who is new to being a ghost whisperer. They will need all the help they can get to discover who is behind the killings.
It didn’t take me long to single out one suspect, among the many others. I find out I am right about her and to discover those she is working with, that was not so easy.
I love ghost whisperer novels, where the ghosts are peripheral characters that help solve the mystery. To have some romance thrown in adds another element, and I am not surprised because of how closely the characters work together.
We have plenty of danger and suspense as the complex mystery deepens and I am all in.

In The Spirit Witch, we are dealing with vampires and witches. Vampires vs vampires. Witches vs witches. Vampires vs Witches. Vated Ordo vs Sisterhood. Good vs Evil.
First off, I would like to mention the gorgeous cover. I love when a cover fits a story so perfectly, as does the one for The Spirit Marked Witch by Olivia Boothe. She is Avery Jaxson. Her innocence shines through, as it does inside the cover.
We begin with the Prologue. I love Prologues…don’t you? Allorn, a realm outside Earth, 5,000 years ago
Rayne wasn’t only fighting to save herself. She was fighting to protect her daughters from the most ruthless queen her realm had ever known. The queen had no idea there were two daughters, twins. To through the queen off the scent, they separated the girls. Rayne says:
“I don’t know how to be without you, Enid. Who will sing sone with me at night? Or tease the lily hoppers by the pond?”
Enid leaned in. “When the wind brushes against your cheek, sister, it will be me sending you a kiss.” As if speaking in a silent language only they could hear, they smiled and embraced one last time.
That was soooo sweet and soooo sad. What will become of them?
Present Day, New York City: We are at the underground club, Requiem run by Luther, an evil vampire. As he drains the last drop of blood from his blood host, there is a knock on the door. His debt has come due and Lilluth is there to collect. She is a member of Vates Ordo, the most powerful dark arts witch hive in the world.
As long as Avery could remember, people had thought her crazy. She shares a home with her best friend, C J. They have much in common, alone and raised in a series of foster homes.
Avery’s dreams are nightmares. She spends many hours drawing detailed images from them. They feel more like memories than dreams. A crow crashes through her window. She mends his broken wing….and her life is changed forever.
Kane knew something was wrong and headed to New York. The ‘family’ will come together. Luther, Kane and Azael. All of them desire Avery for different reasons. Where Avery, a Spirit Marked Witch, ends up depends on the winner of the battle to come.
I wrote and highlighted so many notes, I am having to decide which to share and which to toss out. The battle for dominion over the realm is fought to the death. Who will be left standing will not be decided until the end.
As Avery’s magic awakens, the danger increases, through no fault of her own. The Prophecy has come true.
The Spirit Marked Witch by Olivia Boothe is told from multiple points of view. Each character has their story to tell and it didn’t take me long to figure out what side I stood on. Olivia is not afraid to kill off her characters. Even though I knew some would fall, I was crushed at one in particular.
Olivia Boothe can pen a story that captures my heart and mind. The tempo and pacing of The Spirit Marked Witch kept me reading until the last word was read. I was so engrossed in the story, I never saw the end coming. Avery shone through Olivia’s words as she grew into the Prophecy. Her innocence may have been swept away, but her maturity and sense of right and wrong will carry her through the worst of times. I can understand some of the cruelty, but her mother? I am eager to meet the other guardians that will come to protect her. I know I have already seen the second one. There are those that will stand beside her, and those that want to use her, and I can hardly wait to read more of her story. The series does need to be read in order…and I intend to be there at the end.

I really mean it nowadays too. Life has a way of taking us on journeys that we didn’t want and maybe didn’t even need. but those journeys make up the essence of who we are. I, for one, will always look back and remember those fragments of time. Those pieces of memory.
The quote was at the end of the book, but I thought it was so pertinent to life, that I had to share it in the beginning.
Richie Sterling comes from a broken home. He felt he was on the outside, looking in, until…
A group of boys, in a Trailer Park, become fast friends and discover that life is not always as it appears to be. Richie, Jose, Roberto and Frankie are on the adventure of a lifetime.
The rumor is, the old man next door is a vampire. Of course, curious kids are intrigued and their imaginations run wild. Jose begins to act differently and the kids are on the case. They never could have anticipated what they would discover. I feel I should have known what Mr Rosen was all about, but I never stopped reading long enough to figure it out. A bit of a rhyme there. Maybe I could be a rapper too. :-).
When Richie’s dad comes clean and starts rapping, I couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
Trailer Park by C D Kester is perfect for teen and young adult vampire lovers. A light, yet gruesome adventure sure to peak their imagination.
C D Kester’s writing is amazing. He can write some of the most in depth, gruesome horror for adults, and some of the most fun and adventurous mystery horror for teens. We have a great ending that is not all unicorns and rainbows. Trailer Park was a quick read but chock full or horror goodness and I couldn’t put it down. I thought of two ratings, a four for adults and a five for teens and young adults, so a five it is and I’ll leave it up to you to decide.

Draco is a dark fantasy and we do meet some familiar characters, though the book can stand alone.
Whether in Hell or on Earth, the characters can find love.
Normally her books are laugh out loud funny amongst the chaos and ruin her characters create. Draco is different, dark and moody. That threw me off a bit, but Draco is still worth the time spent with him as he struggles to be with the woman he loves, no matter what.
King is not someone to be messed with, but I feel Draco is up for the task.
Sometimes, Piper can’t tell the difference between fact and fiction, present and past. Will she run to Draco…or away from him.
Draco was one hell of a story and I dare you to come along for the ride.

H R Boldwood has included bits of Cincinnati history, so you know where to avoid when the zombies arise. LOL
All is a badass bitch, so beware when confronting her…about anything. I love her kickass and take names attitude. She rides a Harley, carries her trusty Ka Bar and Hawk, her custom 9mm along a backup Glock. She also carries a bag of Doritos. Even zombies love Doritos. To her zombie hunting is simple.
Step One: Lure deadhead
Step Two: Drop deadhead.
In Corpse Whisperer: Torn, Allie and Toussaint will have their final showdown.
Allie has a wild crowd hanging around her house, Nonnie her next door neighbor, Headbutt, her bitersniffing bulldog, her African Grey feather duster and a new addition to the bird family, Hyrum, the feather duster’s baby.
Allie will have some romantic moments and I, for one, think it’s about time. She deserves something good in her life every now and then.
I love everything H R Boldwood did to wrap up the series. We had some good people die and that is a necessary thing in a novel like Torn. Not everyone can get out of the zombified world unharmed. Allie kinda hits the lottery. Maybe she can afford a better snack than check flavored dog biscuits. She has some romance in her life and her nemesis is no more.
I laughed and cried. I sat on the edge of my seat with white knuckles and I leaned back in my seat, wiping the sweat off my brow. Or was that some zushi. LOL I will sure miss the Corpse Whisperer gang. I wish them luck in all their future endeavors.

With a gun in one hand and a blade in the other, Allie Nighthawk searches the streets of New Orleans for the necromancer, Toussaint. Who will win the face to face confrontation?
She can raise the dead, but spends most of her time putting down the freshies, flesh eaters and corpsicles with the help of her hotty, wantta be boyfriend, Ferris.
As I picture the zombies from The Walking Dead, I am laughing most of the way through the blood and guts, the zushi. The writing is humorous, even when they are shooting, slashing and stabbing, and their lives are on the line.
