Ben Harper is determined to get the answers to his mother’s death. Was it really suicide? Or did someone push her in front of the train.
Ben Harper has been haunted by secrets and death. Will he write the story?
Every time I turned around, I was met with another surprise, more danger. How many bodies will fall before all is exposed? Sure kept me guessing. The more I read, the more curious I became. I do love a fast paced novel filled with mystery and intrigue, and Twelve Secrets by Robert Gold fits the bill.

The men and women that make up the Trackers are highly specialized FBI agents. Anita Dickason supplies them with good looks and great personalities, adding in some thrills and a little romance to spice it up, all the things I look for in suspense and thriller reading.
Riley Phillips is a reporter and photographer for the Fredericksburg Register. She’s using an abandoned farm house as a search and rescue sight for her dog, Milo. At first Riley thinks something has gone wrong and Milo will fail at her SARs training. When she clears the debris, she finds a dead man. I love the connection Milo has with Riley.
The body disappears. All the Ws apply…Who? What? When? Where? Why?
The police force leaves a lot to be desired and Riley is on the wrong side of the law when it comes to needing their support. They are not solution for her, but part of the problem. That changes when Cody, a Tracker, enters the picture.
Ania Dickason creates some intriguing characters with intriguing traits, like Cody with his Native American, Apache, heritage and a photographic memory, and Nicki, a free spirited technological whiz that reminded me of Penelope on Criminal Minds, and, of course, Milo and Riley.
The title, The Iris Code, applies to the technology used as a layer of security for a new drug. The Iris is as unique as a fingerprint and the software creates an algorithm for future comparison.
As the investigation into the dead man grows, danger arises. The body count grows and someone has Riley in their sights. Can Cody protect her? You’ll have to read The Iris Code by Anita Dickason to find out for yourself. I highly recommend any of her work.

I was glad I did. I quickly got attached to Beth Ralston and curious about her sister, Lindsay.
Beth’s relationship with her family members are complicated, but she is confident and can stand on her own two feet. She was the responsible one, covering for her sister when they were growing up. Lindsay was the one taking risks, telling Beth, Don’t Ask, Don’t Follow.
When Beth’s boss is found murdered, she begins an investigation that reveals secrets that affected her life and her family’s life. I consider myself a realist and I know that sometimes it is family that can hurt you the most. Beth will be discovering. Maybe, too often, I think the worst of people.
As the investigation deepens, I found people playing God. They may mean well, but who are they to play judge, jury, and executioner. What makes their decisions the RIGHT one?
Guess what? I also saw my name, Sherry, was given to a character. Will she be a good one or a bad one? I don’t care. It’s just fun to see my name in a book. Author’s don’t use it a lot.
There are Book Club Discussion questions at the end of the book, and I think this could be a good one for your book club. There are plenty of questions about the characters motivations and the dysfunctional family that Beth is part of. Mary Keliikoa threw out enough false leads for me to follow and question how I could be wrong about this or that. Red Herrings are always fun to run across, being lead down a fuzzy path of clues.
The only thing I found missing was that heart in my throat, what will happen next feeling. That’s what makes the difference between a mystery and a thriller to me, and I consider Don’t Ask Don’t Follow more mystery than thriller.
As I read along, I wondered why the title was Mia when it seemed to be more focused on Jack. By the time I got to the end of the story, I knew why.

Mia by John Lansing is the fifth book in the Jack Bertolino series, but my first one. I will recommend starting with the first book if you get the opportunity, but I don’t think it affected my enjoyment of Mia at all. Flawed characters that live dangerous lives create fast paced suspenseful stories with twists and turns and book surprises galore.
From state to state, country to country, and continent to continent, the race is on, the danger rising, and her life could be forfeit. Kill or be killed.
The ending…I sure didn’t see that coming, but it was a perfect fit.

I think we are in for a chilling time in the Cascade Mountain Range of Washington State. It’s winter time and the storm of the century is heading their way.
Seeing Collier is a small town, it has a small police force. Bet’s the Sheriff, Clayton is her right hand man, and Alma is the glue that holds them all together. Bet is the first line of defense against disaster and most likely the last line too. She could use another man and Kane is in need of job. He’s qualified and I liked him right away.
We start out with a snow machine death and the Lakers, hometown folks, spin out of control. It’s hard to figure out who is doing what to who, but that is common for an Elena Taylor book.
The Colliers had founded the coal mining town and could Rob be a love interest for Bet? We shall see in future books in the Sheriff Bet Rivers series.
I love Shweitzer and Grizzly, the critters who add a certain something something to the story.
The avalanche…I had my heart in my throat for a moment or two.
We have so many suspects and so much action going on, at times my head was spinning. Elena Taylor does not make it easy to figure out who is doing what to whom and why they are doing it. She kept my interest from beginning to end.

She lives her life surrounded by horses and dogs and her character, Sheriff Bet Rivers, will need to be a dog whisperer to win over Schweitzer, her father’s dog, a dog that picks her person.
Sheriff Bet Rivers has come back to the small town of Collier after her father falls ill and calls her home. She comes from a long line of policeman. She hasn’t reached the 30 years old mark and has one foot out the door. Will Collier become her home? I hope so because I plan on making a return visit.
When she starts investigating the caves, I had shivers going up and down my spine. Better her than me, that’s for sure. You wouldn’t catch me going underground with a killer hanging around.
Long buried secrets will be exposed. A nightmare comes to life. On top of that, it’s an election year. Complex mysteries will need to be solved and Elena Taylor keeps the mystery alive until the last pages are read.

She needed her two best friends, but…one had been murdered and the other was lost to her. She thought it was easier for her to be a cop than a friend, as she stood at Allie’s graveside, staying focused and numb. Tunnel vision made her a good detective, but not so good a friend or sister.
Kudos to her, her strength in dealing with physical and mental ailments thrown at her.
I wondered who her love interest would be.
Uh oh. I have a lot of characters to sort through, as I try to find the villain. I love when they hide in the pages and I have make a mental list of can they or can’t they be who I’m looking for. I love damaged, dysfunctional characters and we have plenty of them in Secrets & Photographs by A K Ramirez. I find it hard to read them, not knowing which way they will twist and turn.
One mystery is solved, but we have an ongoing mystery that feeds my need for the next book in the Marissa Ambrose Witness Series.

Tiberius Granger was born into a cult, thus his specialty in the FBI is The Christians…twisted fanatics. He had managed to escape their clutches, but had to leave his love behind.
Now, an off the cuff comment that went viral has pissed off the killer, making, not only him, but all those around him a target. What’s even worse, the woman he had left behind, Bexley Hemmingway’s sister has gone missing and he is on the case.
We do have a second chance romance.
The Garden Girls by Jessica R Patch is wicked good. The villain(s) is well hidden, and, even though I knew a lot of what was going to happen, there was a lot that I didn’t know. Jessica had the book surprises rolling out, one after the other, until the very end. She’s not afraid to kill off a character or two if it makes the story better. If a hurricane heads your way, you may want to rethink evacuating the area.
Soooo…hold on tight, because this is one hell of a ride. I have my eye on you, Jessica!

OMG! I am blown away. Sue Coletta has taken ecothrillers and vigilante justice to a new level. Every time I think she can’t surpass herself, she goes OMG! I am blown away. Sue Coletta has taken ecothrillers and vigilante justice to a new level. Every time I think she can’t surpass herself, she goes and writes an excellent story such as Savage Mayhem. I know my words will not be able to express how much I enjoyed the book, but I will do my best.
Let’s start with the cast of characters. We have Mayhem,an Apache Warrior and serial killer. Then, we have Shawnee, a cat burglar and his partner. They will stop at nothing to protect those who cannot protect themselves from the Killzme Corporation…and this time it is the American Buffalo. Just a little note…I had seen a documentary on TV about the American Buffalo and I mentioned it to Sue. She was already writing about it in Savage Mayhem.
We have their feathered friends, Poe, who has a sibling rivalry going on with Shawnee. We have White Crow, who is the spirit animal of Mayhem’s wife. Sue has introduced a new crow, Odin, who has become enamored with White Crow. She makes them seem so real and they have their part to play in the battle. There are moments of sadness and laughter.
I have wondered, in the last couple of books, if there could be a romance between Mayhem and Shawnee. Savage Mayhem had some smokin’ hot moments and I loved it…and that’s all I’m saying about that.
I do want to say that it is best to read the series from the beginning. Mayhem and Shawnee are very different people. I love that Sue Coletta turned them into ecowarriors, determined to put the poaching KillzMe Corporation out of business, one villain at a time. She seamlessly weaves Indian folklore and tradition with danger and death.
