There is no denying that this book is well written and sticks with you long after you read it, so I have been unsure as to what rating it demands of me. It is because of it being so very real and brutal in places, that I am unsure. Sensitive people should stay far away from this book. I would have not picked this one up myself, however; it was a book of the month and I was reading it by the time I found out it was about a school shooting and some very sensitive subjects.
And I thought, okay, this is the worst of it, but no... there is always more in KS books. When you get through one of her books you feel like you have really been through something. She is a great writer, but she holds nothing back, so her style is very masculine to me.
I identified with the stigma that growing up in a small town brings and was glad she addressed that in the book.
