Ughh, this was so incredibly bland. Literally. This was dry as all hell.

There is nothing interesting about this plot, these characters or this relationship. Everything was boring, superficial, and often times even frustrating.

I felt no connection with Roo or Tanner, and I was struggling to see any chemistry between them. The constant miscommunications and insecurities between them got annoying real quick, and also contained a lot more stupid than I can handle. It just didn't make any sense, and was overly dramatic for no reason.

This whole book was just Roo feeling sorry for himself about Tanner not wanting him, while Tanner was struggling to have a personality other than being the 'Golden Boy' and screaming “I love Roo! Please Roo, stay with me, please!” *sigh*

I mean, when the stupidity isn't even entertaining, then what do you still have left? Nothing but this trash book, I guess.

Midra Wth?? Is the lead's name really Roo. I get that author wanted to go for something unique but Roo? Really?

Imme van Gorp @Midra — lolll well, his name was actually Royce, but his nickname was Roo! ;)

Lau ♡ The fact that I enjoyed this book and you complained about it being superficial. And you enjoyed Glitterland and I complained about the characters being shallow😆 I'm sorry you didn't like it. I'll say book three is a lot better but maybe our tastes are a bit too different and you'll dislike it too 🤔

Imme van Gorp @Lau — lmaoo yess that is funny! You enjoyed the lighthearted superficialness here, and I was intrigued by the shalowness regarding mental health in Glitterland. Both so very different, although having a similiar name, and it’s interesting to see different reactions to it all ;)
I was already kind of on the fence about this one going in, yet think book 3 sounds very fun and more like my kind of thing; so chances are high i would actually enjoy that one! I think I’ll give it a shot regardless, because I actually love Saxon James as an author! :)

message 5: by Marci (new) - added it

Marci I’ve added and taken this book off my tbr so many times but now I’m gonna officially take it off. Great review!!

Imme van Gorp @Marci — hahahh glad to be of service!😉 x

message 7: by Snjez (new)

Snjez Great review, Imme! Sorry you didn't enjoy the story more. ❤️ I liked the novella, Friends With Benefits, but I couldn't get into this one. Good to know I'm not missing out. 😉

Imme van Gorp @Snjez — Thank you❤️ And nope, definitely no missing out here; it was a total snooze-fest loll
I’m glad to hear the novella is good, though! Because I am planning on continuing the series, as I’m usually a fan of Saxon James’ work ;)

Lau ♡ @Imme I'm crossing my fingers. I hope you at least don't hate Auggie. He's one of my comfort characters for when I'm having a bad day 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

message 10: by Imme (new) - rated it 2 stars

Imme van Gorp @Lau — Well, from what I could gather about him in the blurb he honestly seems like a character I would love too. I adore the awkward and quirky ones!! Especially if they’re sweet too :) ❤️

message 11: by L Ann (new)

L Ann LOL!!! this review! I'm surprised you gave it 2 stars. 😂

message 12: by Imme (new) - rated it 2 stars

Imme van Gorp @L Ann — yea, honestly I’m not sure if I should have given it 2 stars😅 might have been a bit too generous lolll

message 13: by MarianR (new)

MarianR Sorry it didn't work for you, Imme! I haven't read any books just by Saxon yet. I hope to read some this year. But I still have to decide which one! Great review! ❤️

message 14: by Imme (new) - rated it 2 stars

Imme van Gorp @MarianR — oh yess you should totally do that! She has plenty of good books (a lot co-written with Eden Finley as well). I’d pick a different one than this one though😉 hahahha

len ❀ amazing review, imme! miscommunication always gotta ruin everything. 😭 i’ve been wanting to read this for a while because it’s childhood friends to lovers and because i’ve wanted to go through this author's backlist. sad to see you didn’t like it. i saw the series has progressed a little though but not so much. i don’t have much hope though. 😅

message 16: by Imme (new) - rated it 2 stars

Imme van Gorp @elena — Thank you!❤️ This is definitely hardcore childhood friends to lovers; it plays a really big role. So, maybe you’ll like it more than I did!
I also saw that the series progresses, that’s why I continued to read it, but honestly, none of them are really good or anything. They’re average at best.

Mariam, the clown This review had NO RIGHT to be so hilariously accurate 🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨

message 18: by Imme (new) - rated it 2 stars

Imme van Gorp @Mariam — lollll I mean, it really had to be said😂

BookSafety Reviews Glad I saw this review so I can yank it off my tbr

message 20: by Imme (new) - rated it 2 stars

Imme van Gorp @BookSafety Reviews — LOL glad I could be of service😉🤣

Drache.... (Angelika) Yay to feeling exactly the same about this one..

message 22: by Imme (new) - rated it 2 stars

Imme van Gorp @Angelika — I mean, I’m glad we agree, but I’m sad that means you had a pretty bad time with this one as well😔🩷

Cat the bookworm (in a semi hiatus of sorts) I seem to have liked it more, but I honestly can’t remember anything about this book, so you’re rating it more accurate than mine 😅

message 24: by Imme (new) - rated it 2 stars

Imme van Gorp @Cat — Well, my rating is about two years old, so I’m not sure how accurate it is anymore either🤣

message 25: by Marieke (new)

Marieke (mariekes_mesmerizing_books) Sorry you felt this way, Imme. Hope you’ll love your next read more.
