I really can't label this an anthology because even though it is three novellas, it's more like a three-part novel with the same characters...Mac, Ryder, Kit, Jack and Mia. All set in the same crappy south Texas town, all set within the same few-months time frame. I love pretty much anything Maya writes, so of course, I liked this one as well, but you can REALLY tell that this was one of her earlier works. Above all, and I know this is nit-picky, but I have never seen so many anal sex scenes with no lube. And such a blatant disregard for condoms, especially with Jack and Mia. The story was really great. You so rarely get to see a menage develop like this where one of the guys decides he wants the girl for keeps and it takes the other guy a while to catch up. It was really, REALLY different and refreshing to read. There were no FSOG aspects to it. The action in Jack and Mia's story was really compelling. This book kept me up until 5 am reading, so it definitely held my attention. The settings in the small Texas town were very descriptive, and while I can't for a million years understand why Maya sent them to GALVESTON of all places (seriously, Maya, you're a Texas girl, you know Galveston is gross!) it was very descriptive with the talk about the seawall and the muddy waters, and to me, setting is really crucial as I like to feel like I am there with the characters when I read. Very, very hot, although the sex scenes could have really benefited with a nice big bottle of Astroglide. All I could think of when I was reading the scenes where Kit was getting nailed in the pucker was OUCH.
