Our Wives under the Sea is one of my favorite books and I decided to finally pick up her debut short story collection before I read her newest release Private Rites.

I really liked this! Since it's a short story collection I obviously liked some stories more than others but they all had the very distinctive Julia Armfield writing style, prose and themes. This is literary horror at it's finest. My favorite story was by far The Great Awake, I would read a whole novel or novella with that concept! Some other favorite stories were: salt slow, Cassandra After, stop your women's ears with wax and Formerly Feral
