- Support That's a relevant catalogue for artworks in Italy. --Ysogo (talk) 21:50, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Yiyi, Ysogo: Done as LombardiaBeniCulturali collection ID (P12703). Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 13:44, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
- Comment @Yiyi, Ysogo, ZI Jony: Why isn’t this an external identifier? It has a formatter URL, a single value constraint, a unique value constraint, the number of IDs is given, and its name includes “ID” – all properties of external IDs. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 18:22, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Tacsipacsi:, here are some examples that has a formatter URL, "ID" included in the title, and properties data type is "String". RTE substation ID (P12583), HomoloGene ID (P593), ICPC 2 ID (P667), NCI Thesaurus ID (P1748) Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 04:00, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
- @ZI Jony: Per Property talk:P1748, that property isn’t an external identifier because of the too many single/unique value constraint violations (to the day: as of 7 May, there are 1400 single value and 1362 unique value constraint violations). HomoloGene ID (P593) and ICPC 2 ID (P667) don’t even have unique value constraints. The former seems to be an exception to the rule; the latter two don’t even match the rule.
- RTE substation ID (P12583) is a fairly new property, proposed by a user with less than a thousand edits and created by you this April. The fact that you’ve already made this mistake doesn’t mean it’s not a mistake. (And P12583 hasn’t been used yet anywhere except for the three example statements you added when creating the property, so the chances that someone noticed that it’s in the wrong section are pretty low.) —Tacsipacsi (talk) 20:39, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Tacsipacsi: you mean say that none of users who participated in the discussion of the RTE substation ID proposal noticed that the data type was selected incorrectly! However, I would like to suggest that open a discussion to change data type from "string" to "external identifier" (even for both) so that we could ahead. - Yes, I do. In total, other than the proposers, two users participated there and one user here. If I would’ve been among them, I probably would’ve overseen it as well – that single line is quite subtle, and everything else (examples, presence of the formatter URL) is right. (I only noticed it because it was listed in the “General datatypes” section in the weekly newsletter.)
However, I would like to suggest that open a discussion to change data type from "string" to "external identifier" (even for both) so that we could ahead.
- I’ve opened a discussion by commenting here. Or does it need to be more formal? How does it need to look like? Where should it be? —Tacsipacsi (talk) 14:21, 2 June 2024 (UTC)

Change data type
[edit]@Yiyi, Ysogo, David.Monniaux, Back ache, Vladimir Alexiev: I would like to request all of you to give opinions to change data from "string" to "external identifier" for RTE substation ID (P12583) and LombardiaBeniCulturali collection ID (P12703) as proposed by Tacsipacsi. Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 03:31, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
- Support I don't see why not. I have added a URL match pattern to LombardiaBeniCulturali collection ID (P12703) and translated its description to Spanish Back ache (talk) 09:37, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
