I am going to start this review by thanking my sweet friend Ingela for recommending this to me and then giving me a slight push to read it soon! OMG girl, thanks so much!!!
The blurb pretty clearly states what is going on, but honestly if I hadn’t gotten a push to read it I would have put it on a shelf and gotten to it eventually maybe. Rockford Fielding (Rock), is an absolutely yummy, melt my heart, tug at my soul character. Still living and dealing with the emotional scars from his treatment by is dad, he is so far in the closet he doesn’t see a way out. Rock is ex-military, big tough, alpha guy with a vulnerability and emotional scars that absolutely stabbed me in my emotional heart. Although you can feel his anxiety and fear, he chances a few tentative steps towards accepting himself and then a few more. I am such a sucker for a big tough guy with a soft squishy center!! OMG I LOVE THIS MAN!
And while I was in love with Rock enough to carry me through this story, there is also Carter! Carter….Carter! He has been working for an escort company for 10 years and is now months away from the end of his contract. And while Carter gives every outward appearance of being confident and pulled together, inside he has his own demons and fears.
When you love the characters you can forgive quite a bit (at least I can), and this story definitely had some issues that simply didn’t matter to me. One was that Rock could go from so deep in the closet to standing before the world “out and proud” was a bit far-fetch I think. And the way Carter seemed to be his own worst enemy, constantly pushing Rock away so he wouldn’t get hurt emotionally was a tad bit annoying.
What made me hesitant about this book (especially after reading the blurb), is that it was mostly about hot sex (hey, don’t roll your eyes I am not really complaining about hot steamy sex). I enjoy steamy action, I have read plenty of them *thinks back smiling*, but what I really want is a book that grabs me emotionally. I want a book to grab me swift and hard emotionally and never let go till I reach the last page. And when I finally reach that last page and I am a combination of happy for a great ending, and sad because its over. And this is exactly what happened to me at the end of this one. ...more
This was a winner!! I love the Spy V Spook series, and getting to know these characters from that series is just as fun! This book is about Theo and WThis was a winner!! I love the Spy V Spook series, and getting to know these characters from that series is just as fun! This book is about Theo and William. You don’t have to read Spy V Spook series first, but if you love this one you have to read that series!
When Theo comes out to his family his father throws him out and tells him never to come back. A fifteen year old boy on the streets doesn’t have many options, so circumstances force Theo to become “sweet cheeks” a rent boy. So the story takes you through Theo’s journey, how he goes from bad to worse, and eventually finds some fellow rent boys who become his friends and family.
Eventually Theo meets William, and the two hit it off right away. I loved their story, their chemistry. William never looked down on or treated Theo differently because he was a rent boy. And I loved how Theo soon decided he didn’t want to live the his life the way he had been. Theo soon finds hope start to blossom in his heart and he hangs onto it.
This story moved along well, it kept my attention. Theo and Wills had chemistry and heat, and I enjoyed being in their head.
I am becoming a real fan of Tinnean books and her writing style, and i can’t for book 2 in this series! i am so going to read it!...more
