I read most of them, and what I read was excellent. I didn't finish one story because of a personal phobia, one because of the content, and one because my copy had a misprint and cut out a huge chunk of Tommy Orange's story (one of the stories I was most excited to read, naturally). Each voice in this collection is unique, and I never got the feeling I was seeing the same thing rehashed while reading. Excellent stories, beautiful cover....more

If it had been the same length as the others, I would have liked it more. Maud is a favorite character for me because she's so unexpected. For people who claim to be geeks, they sure hate geeks. Most of these stories are based on the worst stereotypes. I picked this up because I like Garth Nix, John Green, and Libba Bray and wanted to read more from David Leviathan. Their stories were okay. Some of the stories are straight-up inappropriate (hello 15 year old girl trying to meet up with a 34 year old man), and the writing was juvenile overall. ...more

The authors are from Spain, so their perspective was a bit different from some similar anthologies I've read. I'm not sure if it was because of translation or if it's a general stylistic choice, but the writing had this interesting staccato style. I recommend this book for graphic novel lovers looking for great memoirs and female voices....more

I liked that some of the characters came back in stories throughout the book because we got to look at them more closely from different perspectives. Some of the stories feature typewriters, but for the ones that don't, he sneaks a reference to a typewriter in (I think there was one that didn't have it); those were fun easter eggs to look for.
Short story collections aren't usually my cup of tea, but this collection is put together well. Common themes run throughout, but each piece is still unique. I didn't enjoy all the stories, but some of the stories really made me smile....more
