Melissa, 20 y/o, had been fan girling Diego, his neighbor, ever since she could remember. Due to their families' history (and hostility), she tried to hide her fascination of him. For Diego, being 12 years her senior, made an effort to put aside his physical attraction to this young one. An incident brought them together and lo and behold, they had sex. To protect his family's honor, Diego was forced to marry her. Before long, resentment descended and he distanced himself from her, blaming her for trapping him into a marriage he did not wish. He treated her badly, even when she tried to reach out to him. He pushed her away, even telling her she repulsed him. Hurt and humiliated, she ran, fell and found herself in a hospital with the doctor telling her she almost lost her baby. Terrified that Diego's family would take her baby away, she led him believe the baby was lost. And feeling lost and alone, Melissa ran away. Fast forward 5 years later, Diego received a phone call asking him for a permission to operate his wife who had survived a plane accident. He was in for a surprise, not only at finally able to see his missing wife, but a boy who looked a lot like him. Was he? Nah ... Melissa must had had an affair. So he treated her abominably. Anyways, you read the rest.
I loved the angst. It was an interesting read. I usually don't love such age - gaps between the couple but since the storyline was solid, I gave it a go. And am glad I did. I loved the way the heroine was able to put off her feelings and tried to push the hero away for the hurt he caused. (Groveling) ... Yes, I love grovelings. So ... nice weekend read overall....more

I liked my heroes mean, cold hearted, so full of contempt (at some point, I felt a bit too much) but heck, that's the way I like 'em. The more scornful, the better. (No cheating though or physical abuse, those are no nos, and there were none in this story). All stemmed from a huge misunderstanding.
It was a bit illogical to have the hero (Ramon) and the uncle and aunt turn 360 degrees just like that. But oh well, this is a fiction. I also would have liked to see more groveling please ....
Overall this was an interesting read. I finished it within a day. Loved the heroine, she was full of strength. ...more
4.5 Stars. I'm docking off 0.5 star due to insufficient groveling by the hero. I feel like he needed to apologize profusely. Overall, a very nice story o4.5 Stars. I'm docking off 0.5 star due to insufficient groveling by the hero. I feel like he needed to apologize profusely. Overall, a very nice story of a tortured, filthy rich - mogul, Sandro, who was betrayed by his wife, who left right after she gave birth to her son. Two years later, the so- called estranged wife came back, wanting to see her son, her son whom she never knew. Angered beyond reasoning, Sandro vowed to punish his wife (they had not divorced) for running out and disappearing on him.
Yes, Sandro was cruel and mean, which how I liked my heroes to be. But rest assured, there was no cheating, no physical abuse or anything.
The author was able to draw us - the reader - pages after pages on pure torment - super curious on what caused the heroine to flee and vanished without any trace at all. It was pure agony, but it worked. I read this book from start to finish. Well done. ...more

I think I gained some wrinkles; was scrunching up my forehead the whole time I was reading this. I kept hoping for some 'give' for the heroine, some groveling. Even in the end, when it became clear that (view spoiler)[the heroine was innocent, and the hero was in fact the father, he did not apologize straight away. He went away for a few days!!! Damn it. (Slamming my hand on the table). I was so annoyed at the hero. (hide spoiler)]
Having said that, I loved the plot. Dunno why, I love jerk heroes - big misunderstanding - heroines who stood up for themselves. I love Sara! She's a tough cookie....more
I scooped this one up within 2 hours. It was goooooood. The storyline was so fine ... exactly how I liked my stories to be like: forced marriage, heroI scooped this one up within 2 hours. It was goooooood. The storyline was so fine ... exactly how I liked my stories to be like: forced marriage, hero hated heroine, heroine did it for a reason she was not willing to disclose; content with the hero hating her even more and vowing to make her life miserable.
Alex was oh la la! And Mia was ugh, I just adored her. Her character was a formidable one, definitely not a doormat. She did not allow herself to cower. She was hurt all her life, more so the past 7 years and therefore subconsciously built a wall to protect herself, refusing anyone to come near her. Alex was resentful of her, not knowing the cause behind her facade. Once he did, he did a double take to win her.
It was an 'Awwww' moment. The one drawback was that the sexy time was too mild hahaha. ...more
2.5 stars (3 max) Where do I begin? Essentially, reading this book was peeling your scab ... slowly. It was painful but you couldn't help but feel the 2.5 stars (3 max) Where do I begin? Essentially, reading this book was peeling your scab ... slowly. It was painful but you couldn't help but feel the satisfaction. Or like having an open wound and sprinkling salt over it ... bit by bit. It was a bit sickening.
I was ready to put down the book, the main couple was just too deranged in their own guilt over Gracelyn's death. They punished themselves; Killian by blaming Juliana and vowing to inflict her pain. I was turned off by a guy who could behave like him towards a female. The way he verbally and physically abused her was over the top. That was not the quality I liked in a male character. He was weak. And at first I sympathize with Juliana, I understood she felt guilty and felt responsible for her sister's death, but towards the middle, I realized she was as delusional as Killian, unhinged somewhat. I really could see there was a very thin line between insanity and what they both were behaving. However, despite all these, I kept reading. So, was I mad as well?
The ending was very forced and abrupt. It didn't make sense (I know this was a fiction but come on ...). I was sorely disappointed. ...more

First of all, the cover will not do. It just won't do. (smh). I really, really love the plot, however, the climax was too forced and abrupt that it lacked the built up. It disappointed me. Plot Four years ago, Salt and Jane fell hopelessly in love with each other at first sight. At eighteen, Jane had her unborn child taken forcefully from her. Unbeknownst to her, nor Salt, - each believing the worst of each other- the whole painful episode was the result of someone's vile machinations. Fast forward 4 years later, Salt married Jane; hating her more than ever. Jane, still hopelessly in love with Salt, accepted the marriage. Where could the couple go with such distrust to emblem their marriage?
Salt: 34 y/o, most handsome, rich, utterly cynical, his presence felt the minute he stepped into any room. Ferocious. I liked Salt a lot. He was hot. He was mean, but he never abused Jane (physically) nor did he cheat. [image]
Jane: 22 y/o, absolutely beautiful (inside and out) with black raven hair and blue eyes as well as petite body, and a gentleness that exuded not only poise but wisdom beyond her age. She had the coyness about her, innocence and graceful countenance. I liked her character a lot. She was naive but possessed a worldly wisdom.
